Amadeus' Point of View

We were halfway back to Makatza when I felt it. The anguish and despair shoving themselves into my mind. For a moment, all I could do was breathe. In through my nose. Out through my mouth. I felt it again. Felt it jab into my mind and linger for longer than I was comfortable with.

From the way Alastair gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white, I knew he felt it as well. Lysander was on his way to Alpha Dumelo. We were tasked with taking the present Dumelo had given to the house. But I wanted Alastair to floor it. To get to Nerezza as soon as possible.

There was no denying she was hurting. So much so that she shoved her emotions down a bond that wasn't even fully formed yet. Only the most intense of emotions could do such a thing. Whatever had happened in the last few moments must have carved deep into her soul.
