It was one of the worst days in Leah's life until now.
Gordon and Mia decided to handle the situation with fatso while on the other hand, Leah helped Igneel to reach the infirmary room. She felt extremely bad for Igneel as he limped beside her. Leah had his arm around her shoulder to support him. Only if she reached a little earlier he wouldn't be this beat up.
"I tried to fight back." He said in a low voice. Her eyes slightly widened before turning into sad ones in no second. He tried to fight back...just because she told him to stand up for himself. "I'm a" Before he could speak any further she poked in
"You did great. You fought back against so many. It takes great courage to even talk against so many...who have no intention but just to hurt you." She said, Her voice was gentle as ever and so were her expressions.
"You did too." He said and she paused.
"What?" She asked while slightly raising her head to look at him. "You defended me too...yesterday." He said and her smile widened once she realized what he meant. "That's what friends are for." She said and soon they reached the infirmary room.
"Your clothes are all torn. I'll bring some extra pairs of uniforms for you. Get treated." She said and ran away to get a pair of uniforms for him. She was sure Gordon had some extra pairs in his locker. A smile made its way to her lips as she ran through the corridor. He wasn't pushing her away like yesterday and he even tried to fight back for himself...he just needs someone...he can follow.
That boy....she wants to know him more.
If he becomes strong...she is sure no one can hold him down.
She immediately got back to the infirmary once she grabbed the extra pair of uniforms from Gordon's locker. She knocked on the door before entering inside. Her bright expression dropped once she saw the room was empty...only the doctor was sitting on his respective chair.
"Where is Igneel?" She asked the doctor and he frowned. "No one came here." The doctor said and she frowned. She told him to get treated. Where did he go in that messed-up condition? "Oh, I'm sorry for disturbing you." She said and left the room immediately, totally ignoring the doctor that was about to say something.
"Where did you go? Silly boy." She said as she ran out of the school building. Rubbing the back of her neck she looked around with a concerned expression plastered on his face. "Is he stupid? Why is he acting like this?" She whispered under her breath and quickly turned around when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Are you looking for Igneel?" Tobias said and she frowned. "How do you know I was looking for him?" She asked and he shrugged. "I know everything." He said and she gave him a poker look. It was clear she doesn't like him.
"It's quite sad how you act all smiley with him and quite nasty with me," Tobias said and she took a deep breath. "Where is he?" She asked, ignoring him. "You got an attitude. Oh, I saw him going towards the back of the building." He said she was about to rush towards the back of the building but paused when her eyes landed on Tobias' slightly red knuckles.
"Blood." She whispered under her breath. Before she could investigate him...he already turned around to leave. "See you." He said while waving at her with his left hand which had no blood on it.
She kept staring at his back...
Why does he have blood on his knuckles?
She shook her head and ran towards the back of the building which was a park...students rarely come here. There is a rumor that this place is haunted.
Once she reached the back of the building she looked around and found something moving behind the tree. She gulped and quickly ran there. "Igneel." She yelled.
Igneel flinched and quickly wore his shirt back as his back was facing her. "You...should've gone to the infirmary instead of treating yourself." She said while looking down at the water bottle and a small first aid kit full of bandages.
"Let me treat you." She said while stepping towards him but he raised his hand in front of her. "I'm almost done." He said with his head low...his voice extremely low as usual. Without a word she grabbed his hand which he was raising in front of her and put the uniform on his palm.
"Get changed...I will be waiting for you in front of the building." She said and turned around to leave but his words stopped her in her tracks. "You don't have to wait for me." He said. She felt like he was pleading with her. He sounded desperate. She couldn't understand why he was like this but something....something was truly up with him. He didn't go to the infirmary. Why? Treating his wound in such a bush place. Why? He doesn't rely on anyone even though he is so weak. What is he so afraid of?
"I don't want anything bad for you. I understand....there must be a reason for you to be like this but....sometimes it's okay to rely on someone ready to give you his shoulder to cry on." She said and walked away.
She just wanted him to trust her...she wanted to help him.
She held her hand towards him but he was too hesitant to hold on to it.
She understands..he must be scared.
She leaned against the front wall of the building. The bell has already rung...students are taking classes while some have to practice early in the morning. She looked towards the basketball playground and found the boys practicing.
Unlike these players...he is different.
He has this mysterious aura around him...but she is sure that's not the only thing about him that allures her.
She kept waiting for him until he showed up in front of her. He was limping. Her face lightened up once she saw him making his way toward her. She ran up to him and grabbed his arm, putting it on her shoulder to support him.
He just looked down at her as they both made their way inside the building.
"Thank you." He said in a low voice and she smiled. He wasn't hesitant to say thank you or sorry...this shows that he isn't bad.
"Anytime." She said with a huge smile on her face. He didn't understand why she is like this...all he knows is that...she is crazy and he likes it.
Starting from that day...Leah did her best to make Igneel open up with her but he kept pushing her away. She felt like he wanted to be friends with her but he was hesitant. Probably trust issues? But she didn't give up. It became her habit to roam around him and Mia always was dragged along with her."God...what does he think he is? What's with this 'hard to get ' type of attitude?" Mia asked while rolling her eyes. "It's not hard to get. He is just hesitant." Leah said as both of them entered their classroom. "I'm telling you...stop wasting your time. If you put this much focus on your math exam...you will top the school." Mia said and Leah chuckled as both of them settled down on their respective chairs. "Oh, stop exaggerating," Leah said and looked behind at the empty desk. He was late today...so unlikely of him."Mia..." Leah called Mia as she put her head on the desk. "Hmm." Mia turned toward her once she heard Leah calling her. "What could be the reason for this attitude of his
"Igneel...do I look like a pushover to you?" She asked while taking a bite of her chicken sandwich. He slowly turned his head to his left side to look at Leah who just ate her sandwich, waiting for his reply. "No." He said. His voice wasn't low. She swore it was the second time today...she felt shivers running down her spine once she heard his voice again. She never knew a teenager could have such a deep voice. The girls here will fall for his voice. Is that the reason he doesn't speak? "You're not a pushover." He said and she smiled. "I'm glad to know that." She said and turned to look at him. Her eyes widened once she realized he was too close...in fact, she was sitting too close to him. She slowly moved away and took out the medicine from her pocket once she realized that he finished his sandwich."Here, have this medicine." She handed him the medicine and he quietly took it. "Thank you." He whispered under his breath and she nodded. Both of them flinched once they heard rustling
That day... was the beginning of their friendship. All three of them went to Mia's house. Her parents were at work and they probably came late. They plopped down in her living room and started to study as planned. It was the very first time Leah saw Igneel speaking more than a line. Because he was teaching her math. She was surprised at how good he was in math and she clearly understood him. "Ahh...I'm tired and hungry. Why don't we guys wrap up for today and cook something for ourselves?" Leah asked while packing her stuff. Mia on the other hand nodded in agreement. "Let's cook," Mia said and stood up. They both looked at Igneel. "What would you like to eat, Igneel?" Leah asked Igneel who was quietly sitting beside her. "Anything," Igneel said while looking up at Mia. Leah smiled and stood up too. "I knew, you weren't picky. Let's make sandwiches." Leah said while clapping her hands together."Do...you like sandwiches?" Igneel asked while looking up at Leah. His voice wasn't low an
It was another day but with each other...it didn't feel like torture anymore. They should have met a lot earlier. "Say...have you guys started preparing for the college entrance exam?" Leah asked while sucking on her popsicle as she walked between Igneel and Mia as usual. They were making their way out of the school. "Um...I told you before...I will be taking over my grandpa's cafe once I graduate." Mia said and Leah nodded. Both of them turned their heads to look at Igneel. "I'm...gonna take a year break," Igneel said in his usual low voice. Leah pouted and took a big bite of her popsicle. "I want a break too...my parents are so pushy." She said while shaking her head. "What major will you take?" Igneel asked and Leah rubbed her chin. "Probably psychology...I love psychology. Thank God my parents aren't against it." Leah said and Mia nodded. All of a sudden Igneel fell to the ground while grabbing his hand from behind. A basketball rolled down beside him indicating that he was hit
Today, the first period was PT.Everyone was changing into their PT outfit. "I'm waiting for you outside," Leah told Mia as she walked out of the changing room after changing into her PT outfit. She put her elbows on the railing and looked toward the basketball ground. She narrowed her eyes once she saw Tobias practicing among them."Loser." She whispered under her breath while eyeing him. She lashed her gaze away from him. Her expression lightened once she saw Igneel making his way toward the building. She was about to tell his name as she raised her arm to wave at him but she paused midway when she saw something in his hands. She lowered her arm and keenly looked at the bouquet-like stuff in his hand. Her eyes widened and her heartbeat fastened once she saw a bouquet of white Camellia in his hands.A BOUQUET OF CAMELLIA. He brought it for her.She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She put her hand on her chest to calm her heartbeat. Why was her heart beating so fast? He rememb
"I promise."He said and she smiled. He kept caressing her right cheek...his touch was so gentle and tender...she was at the peak of closing her eyes and leaning into his touch. "Are you confessing?" She snickered while joking and looked up at him. She paused once her hazel orbs met his gray ones. The look he had in his eyes forced her to gulp. She can feel her heartbeat getting faster. She lashed her gaze away once she realized they were staring into each other's eyes for quite a while now. "So...uh...we need to do something about that fatty. I've told Mia to take Gordon and go to the principal office. We need to complain about that fatso." As soon as Leah said that, Igneel grabbed her shoulders tightly. She frowned and looked up at him. He had a huge frown on his face. It was the first time she saw him frowning like this. Did she do something wrong?"You shouldn't have." He said and her eyes narrowed. "Why? So they can continue to bully you? It's enough." She asked and he shook his
Did she do something wrong? She kept standing there in the middle of the corridor, scratching her cheek with her finger trying to remember her fault. Was he still angry because of the principal scene? But the fatty, unfortunately, died. She shook her head and made her way toward the classroom. Upon entering the classroom she looked at her desk to catch Igneel but instead of Igneel, she saw Jack. She frowned and looked at the desk where Igneel used to sit before and to her surprise he was sitting on his old seat. She lashed her gaze away from Igneel once she heard Mia calling her name. She silently made her way toward her desk and settled down. "Did...did something happen? Why is he sitting there?" Mia asked Leah as soon as she sat down. Leah shrugged and shook her head. "I don't know...he just ignored me in the corridor and now he is not sitting behind me anymore. I'm sure nothing happened between us for him to act like this." Leah said with a gloomy expression on her face. Mia l
"What in the hell is this?"She kept staring at the black car which soon faded away from her sight after dropping Tobias. She rubbed her forehead, trying to calm herself. She couldn't believe what she just discovered. She shook her head and decided to go near the mansion. She paused right in front of the mansion. Her jaw hung low as she looked at the luxurious mansion right in front of her. She couldn't believe whatever was happening at the moment. She flinched when she heard the side door of the mansion opening. She quickly hid behind the huge tree which was right beside the mansion. A guard came out while talking to someone on the phone."They have guards too?" She asked and whipped the sweat away from her forehead. She was sweating in the hoodie, guess winter didn't come yet. She kept staring at the guard who was busy talking to someone on the phone, his back was facing her.She looked at the opened side door and decided to take the risk of sneaking in. One thing she was sure about
