Chapter Twenty-four

Sebastian POV

“Why did you marry me?” She was in my office, looking feisty and hot in the well-tailored navy blue pants she wore and a cream shirt. Her eyes were burning into mine with that intensity I was so used to from her on the field. It would take more than this, but it was enough for her to make me lose any semblance of control over myself, especially since I already was having a rough day but instead I smiled in amusement which made her more furious.

“Is that the real reason why you married me? You wanted my grandfather's company to run into ruins and you just needed a good plan to start your destruction? Is this what this is all about?” She went on yelling and I could tell her voice had lost its usual cool edge.

The smile immediately fell from my face. What was she going on about?

“What are you talking about?” My voice sounded more serious than I intended because at the sound of my stern tone she calmed down slightly, but not much. I took a deep breath.

It only seemed to fuel her fury even more as she stepped closer until we were almost touching each other. “Don't play dumb with me, Sebastian. I know what you did and why you did it.” and she looked at me intently.

The urge to let out a humorless laughter was almost overpowering but the look she was giving me kept me in check. There was something in her gaze that made it hard to look away. Her words had hit home and left me confused.

“Spill.” I commanded as my own anger got the better of me. How dare she say these things when I hadn't said anything? “Now.” I added.

She didn’t flinch or look all put off by my order. Instead she continued staring me right in the eye.

“You posted those photos of me,” She accused. it felt like a slap across the face and for some reason, it pissed me off more than it should have. Why would she think that? I was the one who fucking helped her.

Such an ingrate.

“I'm afraid I can't help you with your accusations.” I collected my anger back and put my most threatening voice into it. l stepped even closer to her.

Her eyebrows raised slightly in surprise as she stared back at me blankly.

“You posted them and took them down, playing hero. Meanwhile the whole time you were aiming to steal one of my company's biggest partners.” She continued her rant in a voice full of disdain. I saw red. I almost reached out and grabbed hold of her arm but I thought about what I was doing.

“That's nonsense.” I argued though the heat that burned behind my irises told a different story.

“You set me up!” She was not listening to me, she was pointing a finger at me accusingly. I didn't suppress the snort of disbelief from passing my lips. That would show her.

“What is wrong with you? I have no idea what you are talking about.” My voice was cold and detached. She narrowed her eyes at me and I saw the fire inside her flicker. This wasn't going as planned. Heck i didn't even plan this, what was this?

“You're lying...” Alina trailed off. “Since you are going to pretend like you don't know, I lost a big partner today and guess whose company he ran to? Yours! So go ahead and tell me this is all a coincidence.” She said in a dangerously low voice and stepped even closer, her eyes flashing like embers.

It was my turn to accuse her. “You are lying!” The anger was slowly bubbling up again and this time I didn't try to contain it. How dare she accuse me of this?

“I am not! My partner is now a partner with your company, don't you know that?” Her voice was now low and deadly calm. I found it soothing.

Focus Sebastian.

“When did this happen?” I asked her instead and she frowned.

“Today...” she answered hesitantly.

“Shit!” I tugged at the roots of my hair. I immediately knew who was responsible for this mess.

“Come with me.” I demanded after a while she was still watching me, clearly skeptical.

“Why should I?” There was so much aura to this woman, she was different from the woman I had met five years ago. That woman would never have questioned me. When did she get so stubborn?

“We have unfinished business” I told her

again she didn't seem convinced. The fire in her eyes flared up, as if it was the last thing she wanted to hear.

She scoffed unbelievably. “No.”

“AIina, I mean what I say.” My voice was stern and I was ready to push this.

But she wasn't going to move, she stood still, daring me to do something. I sighed and grabbed her by the arm, pulling her out of my office. She protested angrily, but I wasn't in a mood for this anymore.

I didn't let go of her hand until we were in the parking lot.

“Get into the car.” I growled as she glared daggers at me.

“No! I came in my car.” she stated.

“If you keep arguing, I'll drive away with your car.” I matched her energy.

Reluctantly, she didn't protest and I dragged her in.

Then without further argument, I drove off.

“Where are we going?” She finally asked after a while as it was obvious that she was getting impatient.

“To put an end to this nonsense.”

The silence between us grew thicker the more we drove in total silence.

We arrived at our destination.

“Get down.” I ordered and surprisingly she obeyed without protest. We made our way inside.

“Father, father!” I yelled in the empty living room . We heard some shuffling and then the sound of footsteps coming closer towards us. A few seconds later my father came in front of us.

“Why are you yelling?”

“You went after my wife’s business partner, didn't you?”

My Father stared right into my eyes. His expression changed instantly. Anger filled his eyes.

“Yes I did. They are not obligated to her but since she owns a very influential position in our community, he couldn't just turn his back on her so easily. And since I didn't intend to harm anyone or steal anyone, they are free to do their own thing, which is exactly what they did!”

“You can't make that decision, I am CEO” I replied furiously.

“And I own this company! I built it brick by brick Seb, I did all of that work myself and you are going to throw it away!” His voice raised even higher with every sentence. “I gave my all for this company, I worked hard and sacrificed everything just to make sure that when you take over, you'll bring ease but you didn't! So I took matters into my own hands. Don't push me Sebastian, don't you dare! Because you'll regret it. You'll regret ever crossing paths with me.”
