Chapter Seven

Note from the author; from now onwards, am going to write the story in the third person point of view. I'll indicate at the top if I want to write in my character's P.O.V. Thanks

Authors pov.

"I stole something from you and you want your money back that's why you searched for me," Rose said without thinking.

Christopher looked at her for a while and said, "if that's what you think then, let me tell you that, you are wrong. The money you stole is too small to make me search for you for years."

Rose was confused at his reply. If it wasn't because of his money then what? "Why then did you keep searching for me?" She had to ask.

"I was sitting alone in the club that night and immediately I saw you, I was captivated. I felt pulled to you. You can say it's love at first sight but, I wanted to know you. I wanted to follow you. That's what drew me to you. I could have left you at the club that night but, I couldn't. My whole being didn't want to leave you all alone there so, I took you home. Do you think I will take any random girl to my house?" Christopher said.

"Isn't that what you did? I was just a random girl." Rose said.

"All my life I have never taken any girl home from a club. Yes, it was random but, in your drunken state, I got to know you are an orphan. I had made up my mind to ask you to stay with me the next morning. It's was unfortunate that, when I woke up, you were gone. I was pissed but it wasn't because of my money. I didn't even notice that you had taken the money until later." Christopher explained to her.

Rose was even more confused. What could be the reason? She didn't want to believe what he said about love at first sight but, her whole being beloved him. "So?"

"So, I am saying finding you wasn't because of the money. My feelings for you haven't changed since that night. Seeing you yesterday made me realize how much of my heart still yearns for you. Call me selfish or whatever but, I want to go back to Lagos with you and my child. I have done some findings and I know you haven't had any man in your life since you came here. Please Rose," he said as he switched seats to sit beside her. He held her hand and began again. "Think about it. Do you not feel anything for me? Was I just a one-night stand to you? I won't force you to make any decision today but, I don't have much time to spend here. I'd like to go back as soon as possible."

Rose's heartbeat started running a marathon immediately he held her hands. She doesn't remember much of what happened that night but, the way her body was reacting now is something she has never experienced before. "Why me? Why do you want me to go back with you? Will your family accept me? I don't know what to say sef. Please, Christopher, I don't know what to call you but in all the years that I have had to live with you in my mind, I never gave so much thought to what you are to me except my baby's father."

Christopher didn't want to pull her into his world that is a mess but, he didn't want to leave her either. "Rose!" He called her name and placed his hand on her cheeks to make her look into his eyes. "I won't lie to you at this moment, you didn't just steal my money years ago. You stole my heart as well. The more I searched for you, the more my feelings for you grew. Taking you with me won't make your life any easier, in fact, I will be pulling you into my messed-up life. Look into your heart and ask yourself why you are still single. The heart knows what it wants and I believe that's why you are still waiting. Rose, I want to marry you not just because of my child. I want to marry you because it's you."

"But..." Rose started to say.

"No. You don't have to give me an answer tonight. I will be here for two days so, use that time to think about it. You could have gone home with any other guy that night but, the universe chose me. It chose to give you a child after that night. Think about it Rose."

"Fine. Let's see what will happen. I can't promise to give you what you want but, Iet's see what happens in two days." Raise said looking into his eyes.

Her answer brought a smile to his lips before he stood up and adjusted his shirt. "I need to go now but, I'll be here bery early in the morning. I promised Princees that I'll go to her school with her tomorrow. She wants to show me off to her friends." He said with a chuckle.

She also smiled and said, "be ready to meet all her friends then. It's like she knew you would show up soon. She has never troubled me about her father but, recently, she started asking about you. Get prepared to go with her to wherever she wants to go to."

"Am sorry it took me so long to find you. I guess I didn't search hard enough."

Rose walked him to the door and waited for him to walk out but, he walked out but didn't go. He turned to her and pulled her into his arms. Rose didn't react immediately because, she was expecting him to do that. When he eventually pulled away, he said, "let's use this little time you have till you make your decision to get to know each other more. Let's spend time together as well. What do you think?"

Rose just nodded her head in agreement and that brought a bright smile to his face. He pulled her into another hug and this time around, he didnt just pull away. He kissed her forhead and said, "good night Rose. I'll see you very early tomorrow."

"Good night!" Rose replied and watched him walk away. After she closed the door, she leaned against the door and smiled. She didn't know why she was smiling but, she felt at peace. "Maybe, it's time to start afresh." She mumbled and walked away.

Christopher was in cloud nine after leaving her house. He was smiling till he got to his hotel room and that smile never left his face till he laid down to sleep for the night. "I'll make sure you agree to be mine Rose, you can't run away from me this time around. I'll make sure of that." He vowed before sleep took over.
