Chapter Ninety Six

Almost everyone in the room had shock written on their faces except Christopher and Uzo. They just watched calmly. None of them expected such a reaction from the person who was always very quiet.

"You all should stop looking at me like that. She deserves to die!! She ruined everything. She took everything that was supposed to be mine.!!" Ene shouted angrily.

Blessing who had already eaten a spoon of the poisoned food started to panic. "Please... Someone should save me!!! I ate the food! Please!!!" She shouted.

"Don't worry. Nothing will happen to you. That food is fine. There is nothing in it." Uzo answered her. When he was going back home, he stopped by a restaurant and bought the exact food that Rose was eating before she started reacting. The first thing he did when he got to Christopher's house was to rush into the kitchen making sure that the maids didn't see him. He took the food he bought and hid the one that was at home.

Blessing breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that. Ene glared at Uzo and felt like killing him. How could she had been so foolish as to fall for such a cheap trick? "You!!! You just ruined everything!!! I am the rightful owner of all she Is enjoying! What right does she have to just come out of nowhere and get married to him?" Ene asked with anger and hatred. "I have been waiting patiently for the right time. She just came out of nowhere and destroyed everything.!" Ene shouted and rushed to attack Rose who was sitting on the bed.

Paul was quick to hold her back. "What are you talking about? How did she take what belongs to you?" Christopher asked.

"Don't you get it? If you had married Cindy, things would have fallen into place. She just had to ruin it all!!" Ene shouted and struggled to get out of Paul's hold. "He promised that I would get it all. You just have to marry Cindy then I know how to get her out of the way!." She continued to say.

"Just take her away. You know what to do!" Christopher said and waved at Paul to take her out.

"No!!! No... You are not taking me anywhere!!! I need to get her out of the picture. She needs to go!!!" She screamed as she was carried out.

As she was being carried out, Princess rushed in. She ran to Rose who was on the bed. "What happened, mom!? Why are you in a hospital!?" She asked.

"I wasn't having a stomach ache. Why are you not in school?" Rose answered and asked.

"Something happened in school and I was saved by them.!" Princess answered and pointed at the woman who had walked in when Princess pointed at her.

She was in her forties and as she walked in, she was looking at Rose with tears in her eyes. A younger man walked in after her. When Ada and Uzo saw him, they looked at each other In shock. He was the person that had been asking questions about Rose. They both recognized him at a glance. "Hi, sis!" He said to Rose with a smile.

"Sis!?" Everyone in the room chorused.

"Yes, sis." He answered still looking at Rose. The woman who came in with him still did not say a word. She was just looking at Rose till tears started falling out of her eyes.

She eventually walked to Rose and said. "Please, forgive me, my child. Forgive me for leaving you behind and not coming back for you..."

Rose looked from her to the young man who called her sis. "What's going on?" She asked no one in particular.

"Calm let me introduce myself. My name Is Daniel. This is my mom and we are twins! She gave birth to us and left you behind because our father didn't want a female child.!" He explained to Rose.

"You must have walked into the wrong room.! I don't have a mother." Rose said.

"That's where you are wrong sis... I am your twin and this is our mother! We even have a younger step-sister and you have met her." He answered.

"Please, my child. Let me explain... I really am your mother and he is your twin brother.!" The woman said with tears. Everyone In the room was only looking on with shock and curiosity. "I believe you must have known the kind of work I did in the past? Well, I was lucky to meet your father. I thought I had seen who will take me out of that life. He would always come to see me. When I got pregnant, he made it clear to me that he doesn't want a daughter. He promised to get married to me if I give him a male child." She explained. "When I gave birth and it was twins, he asked me to take you to the orphanage that he doesn't want a female child. I couldn't do that so, I gave you to Nkiru. I planned to come back for you but, he sent me and your brother outside the country immediately and I haven't been back till a few years ago. When I got back, I went to look for Nkiru. She made me understand that you ran away from her when you clocked eighteen. Am sorry it took me so long to find you." She explained and while she was talking, no one said a word. They were all trying to absorb the story.

"Am sorry but, I don't have a mother. What kind of mother would leave a child behind? I don't want to know what your reasons are but, I already accepted the fact that I am an orphan. You can leave now..." Rose said looking away from the crying woman.

"Please, my wife is sick now. Maybe we can discuss this another time. Can you excuse her for now?" Christopher asked. "She needs to get better as soon as possible and I wouldn't want to stress her right now." He added when he saw the woman hesitate. "You know what? Why don't I see you off? I haven't thanked you for bringing Princess back yet..." He added and pecked Rose on her forehead then whispered. "I'll be back soon." Christopher said And led the woman out.

When they were walking out, the young man who came in with Princess and the woman refused to follow them. "The two of you can go and talk. I have to stay with my sister." He said when he saw Christopher looking at him. "What? You better stop looking at me like that. You don't scare me at all!! I am her brother so you have to respect me." He added.

Christopher walked back to him and said. "When she accepts you, we will talk about who is to respect who. Now, follow me!"

"Do you think I am scared of your glare!? You don't scare me at all..."

"Please, let him stay..." Rose said and her twin brother gave her a wide smile.

He looked at Christopher and gave him a look that said. "See, she chose me!" Christopher just shook his head and walked out with Rose's mother.

Silence was all that remained after the others left. They both just kept looking at each other without saying a word. Each had their thought. They didn't look identical but after a closer look, one could see that they did have some sort of similarities. But they weren't identical.

"You know you can come over here and sit right?" Rose said after watching him for a while and he was still standing where he was.

"Oh. Thanks " He walked to the chair beside the bed and sat on it.

"So... What do we say to each other now?" Rose asked. She didn't even know what topic they could talk about.
