I moaned out loud, writhing under Jake as he thrust deep inside me. My walls clenched around his cock, and I stiffened before letting out a cry of sweet release. A minute later, Jakeson grunted out his release. He wasted no time in slipping out of me. I moved to hold him, but he slapped my hand off. I ignored the pain of rejection that sliced through my chest, swallowing it like I usually do. I was used to it. I just didn't understand why I kept on trying like a fool. “Where are you going?” I gathered the courage to ask, staring at his beautifully sculpted body as he walked towards the bathroom. “To work, don't wait, I may not come home today.” He said flatly. I looked away, staring at the wall in front of me, trying my best to blink away the tears that were starting to form in my eyes I pulled my legs close to my chest and pulled the cover over my body to hide my exposed body. The sex had been wonderful as always, but his behavior afterward made me feel exposed, unworthy. It was always like this whenever we had sex. He grew distant and uncaring. In fact, he was only nice when he wanted sex, and only when he wanted sex. I had no idea why I thought it would be different this time. Jakeson and I have been married for five years now, and in that five years, I could count the number of times he had looked at me with love and care in one hand, and even those times, it was when he wanted to make love. That was the only time we had any semblance of connection with each other. Every other time, we were strangers to each other. I had done everything to make him see me, to make him love me, but nothing worked, and it was all because I was human. He didn't think I was worthy to be his mate. He never said it outrightly, but it showed in the way he treated me like I was a piece of…meat. To Jakeson, I was a burden, an obligation, a replacement for the woman he actually wanted. I should have left a long time ago. Nothing was holding me here, but I couldn’t. I loved him too much and still held on to the hope that one day, he would eventually see me. Jakeson walked out a second later, his hair was wet. He had just showered. He looked divine as usual. “So, you won’t be coming home tonight?” “Didn’t I just say so?” he snapped. I flinched. “I was just asking so I can prepare dinner.” He didn't respond; instead, he finished buttoning up his dress shirt, took his gadget, car keys, and walked out, leaving me staring after him like a fool. You'd think by now I would be used to this treatment, but the pain was the same as always. My hands curled into fists before me, and as soon as the door slammed shut, the tears I had been holding back broke free. My heart rose and fell in rapid succession. I deserved better than this, I really did. A sharp pain suddenly sliced through my stomach, and I let out a scream. “Ugh,” I groaned. I had been experiencing this for a week now, sharp pain in my stomach and chest. It was always brief and lasted two seconds. But this one was hurting longer than usual. The pain suddenly disappeared, and I sighed in relief. I stood up, about to go to the bathroom to shower and clean up, when it hit again, this time stronger. I collapsed to the floor with an excruciating scream. “Help,” I yelled, and a second later, my handmaid came barging into the room. “Luna, are you alright?” she rushed to my side. “No, please… take me to the hospital now.” I choked out, the pain worsening by the second. I felt like I was going to die as the pain crawled up all the way to my chest. Carla looked around frantically while I clutched my chest. She began to yell for help when It suddenly stopped again, and I stood up and followed Carla to the car, where the driver drove us to the packhouse. …… “Congratulations, Luna. You are pregnant.” Doctor Mayfair said with a smile as she walked in. My eyes widened. I had arrived at the hospital an hour ago, and the doctors had run some tests, telling me I was going to be fine, and didn't need to worry. “Really?” I exclaimed and she grinned wider “Really!” My heart swelled. I couldn’t believe it. I had given up on ever having a child with my husband years ago after so many tries with not so much as a miscarriage. At some point, I even thought my human genes could not mix with his werewolf genes, even after the doctors assured me that it wasn’t. “But why was my stomach hurting so bad, doctor?” I questioned, sitting up from the bed. “Well, your stomachache was due to the lack of certain vitamins your baby was taking from your body. He is a strong baby, an alpha actually. A strong breed, just like his mama.” She smiled. “That’s what caused all the commotion, but don't worry. I have prescribed a few medications for you to help with the pain.” “I see. Thank you.” I smiled, wondering why she had said my baby was just as strong a breed as I was. I wasn’t even a werewolf. I was human, at least to my knowledge. Maybe she was just trying to flatter me. “You are welcome.” “How far along, doctor?’ I questioned, already imagining the joy from Jakeson when I gave him the news. “Seven weeks.” …… I left the hospital, feeling so much better. Doctor Mayfair had given me a list of medicines to take, and a type of food to eat, to avoid for the next nine months. Carla had done most of the listening because I was way too excited to sit still. “Congratulations again, Luna>” Carla said. “Thank you, Carla. I feel great. Get the chefs to make the Alpha his favorite meal while I go find him. We will be celebrating tonight.” “Of course, Luna,” Carla said and left. While I made my way to the hotel Jakeson was having his meeting today, I found Leo in front of the hotel talking to a couple of well-dressed wolves. I walked up to him, and his eyes widened in surprise. “Luna, what…What are you doing here?” “Where is the Alpha?” “He's in a meeting right now.” “Good, you're on your way there, aren't you?” “Um, yeah.” “I'll come with you then,” I said. He looked a little skeptical, but I didn't wait for him to say no. I walked into the hotel, and he followed me.Octava’s povI smiled at him before taking in deep breaths.“This doesn’t feel real.”He smiled and stepped closer. “This one is.”Soon, the day of the wedding came, as the blue skies and pleasant air filled my senses.Today was my day and nothing was going to ruin it.I stepped out onto the path to see him waiting at the end for me.In his eyes were love and affection. No doubt.I soon got to him and took his hands as he smiled.“You look amazing,” he whispered.“So do you,” I said softly. We soon said our vows in a simpler, honest way, and when he kissed me, everyone clapped. After that, the party started as we danced, everyone drinking and laughing to the fullest.“Look, the wolves and lycans are dancing,” I said.He followed my gaze and smiled.“We did it together. Now imagine all we can accomplish.”In that moment, an arrow hit the pillar beside us as someone screamed. Everything fell apart. Soon rogue wolves burst in. They were dressed in black and had weapons. Chaos started as
Octava’s pov“Yes, your eyes,” he continued, “they are strong, and I like that he has them.”I smiled and kissed him as his hands found my waist. He dragged me close to him before he pulled away.“Close the door,” I said.He stood, walked over, and shut it, while locking it as he turned around. I got to my feet and removed my clothes as I stood before him naked. In that moment, he knew what I wanted and he was ready to give it to me.Within a few minutes, we gave ourselves to each other with him marking me as we laid on the bed staring at the ceiling.“What if we announce it?”I looked at him in confusion. “Announce what?”“That we’re together officially. No secrets, we’re not hiding, and there’s no uncertainty.”I scoffed. “You want the whole kingdom to know?”“I want everyone to know,” he said. “You’re my mate, and now that Luka is my son, I’m done pretending, and I have a full family to defend. I will defend it with my life.”My heart warmed at his words. “If that is the case, the
Octava’s povI couldn’t believe my ears. How could she? I stepped forward as Rick’s blade hit my chest, but I stood my ground. “Why on earth would you make such a choice?”Elma wanted us to choose between our family members, and I wasn’t about to let that happen.“Just let him go,” I said, staring at her. “Release him. Everyone can go home. There’s no need for a fight. There’s no need for bloodshed. Why do you want this so badly?”Elma’s fingers tightened around Luka as he whimpered softly. The sound almost broke me into pieces.“Because,” Rick said, “peace was never the goal.”Before I could speak again, Jakeson stepped forward beside me. “How about I offer myself?” he said. “That’s a wonderful third option.” My head snapped to him. “What do you mean?”He looked at me with kindness in his eyes that made my chest hurt. “All of this,” he said quietly, glancing at Elma, “is because she could never have me. Because no matter how hard she tried, I was always looking at you.”Elma’s expr
Jakeson’s povI was crouched there at the bushes when something snapped within me.Then a rumble filled my chest as I noticed my wolf growl. It was finally free. There was no pain, no distortion, or invisible chain pulling at my instincts. In that moment, my wolf surged free as I violently dropped to my knees. A roar tore out of my chest in anger and suddenly it echoed through the trees.“Shit,” I muttered within myself. My wolf didn’t care. It was time to save our mate. It was time to show these rogues what would happen if they mess with an alpha.Without waiting, I zipped forward and jumped into the chaos as I tore through the rogues like they were nothing. It felt good to be free and light at the same time. The rogues all stared at me in shock as I laughed.“You wanted war?” I roared. “Well, here I am.”The formation collapsed with warriors beginning to retreat. Then I felt something stronger, an aura as strong as mine, coming through the fray of the chaos. I looked ahead to see Ri
Octava's povI was standing tall in my Lycan form. My claws were digging into the earth. My breath was steaming into the night air. My body felt huge and powerful. It felt ancient. Then something happened.Something inside me snapped. It felt like a cord breaking. It felt like a chain shattering. A pressure that had been living at the edge of my senses for weeks just disappeared.I froze. That was not me losing control. That was the hex breaking. I felt it unravel through the bond like smoke being ripped apart by wind. The dark thread that had coiled around Jakeson’s wolf was gone. It was torn apart the moment I shifted fully into myself.Elma stumbled backward. Her eyes were wide. She drew her sword with shaking hands. Pointed it at me."Stay back!" she said. Her voice was trembling.I let out a laugh that vibrated through my chest."You do not need that sword, " I said. My voice was layered, beast and half woman. "I already have what I came for."Her grip tightened on the hilt. "You
Elma’s pov“Hide?” I almost laughed. “We are the Bloodfang. We don’t hide.”He scoffed. “We can go to the winter lands. The ground there is very bad for them. The storms are fierce and we know the place better than they do. We can disappear for months.”“Disappear?”“Yes. Then we can band together and wait for a good time to fight. We are better with ambushes than we are with a full-blown fight.”“So, let me get this straight,” I said, walking up to him. “All those threats that Rick was making, they’re all fake?”He shrugged. “He wanted to be the alpha. He is the alpha. He’s just making threats. In reality, there’s no one that is aligning with us. We are rogues trying packs. Apparently, we can’t fight the Lycans alone.”That was when I heard someone laughing in the distance. I turned to see that it was Octava. She was tied to a pole in the middle of the tent with magic metal on her wrists. Her white dress was dirty and bloody, but she somehow managed to look like she was in charge.“A
Octava’s povHe stared at me like he had seen a ghost as he sat up like he had not really heard me.“Pardon?” He muttered, the sound leaving his throat like a choke.“Dad, you know what I’m talking about. You can’t just sweep what happened under the carpet. Plus you haven’t even shown up to talk ab
Jakeson’s povI could have told her no, but I didn’t want to argue with the Queen in front of her subjects and her elder, so I agreed.I walked to the side, again, with her, and she smiled at them, and then turned to me.“What in the moon’s name are you doing? You should be working with the people
Jakeson’s povThe Queen shook her head and started to pace around. Then she roared and punched the slab door closing the dungeon as it cracked. She pulled away her hand as her ring, which was filled with a couple of red stones, fell to the ground. I raised a brow. I had not seen her lose control li
