OCTAVA

I moaned out loud, writhing under Jake as he thrust deep inside me. My walls clenched around his cock, and I stiffened before letting out a cry of sweet release. A minute later, Jakeson grunted out his release. He wasted no time in slipping out of me.

I moved to hold him, but he slapped my hand off.

I ignored the pain of rejection that sliced through my chest, swallowing it like I usually do. I was used to it. I just didn't understand why I kept on trying like a fool.

“Where are you going?” I gathered the courage to ask, staring at his beautifully sculpted body as he walked towards the bathroom.

“To work, don't wait, I may not come home today.” He said flatly.

I looked away, staring at the wall in front of me, trying my best to blink away the tears that were starting to form in my eyes

I pulled my legs close to my chest and pulled the cover over my body to hide my exposed body. The sex had been wonderful as always, but his behavior afterward made me feel exposed, unworthy.

It was always like this whenever we had sex. He grew distant and uncaring. In fact, he was only nice when he wanted sex, and only when he wanted sex. I had no idea why I thought it would be different this time.

Jakeson and I have been married for five years now, and in that five years, I could count the number of times he had looked at me with love and care in one hand, and even those times, it was when he wanted to make love.

That was the only time we had any semblance of connection with each other.

Every other time, we were strangers to each other. I had done everything to make him see me, to make him love me, but nothing worked, and it was all because I was human.

He didn't think I was worthy to be his mate. He never said it outrightly, but it showed in the way he treated me like I was a piece of…meat.

To Jakeson, I was a burden, an obligation, a replacement for the woman he actually wanted.

I should have left a long time ago. Nothing was holding me here, but I couldn’t. I loved him too much and still held on to the hope that one day, he would eventually see me.

Jakeson walked out a second later, his hair was wet. He had just showered. He looked divine as usual.

“So, you won’t be coming home tonight?”

“Didn’t I just say so?” he snapped.

I flinched.

“I was just asking so I can prepare dinner.”

He didn't respond; instead, he finished buttoning up his dress shirt, took his gadget, car keys, and walked out, leaving me staring after him like a fool.

You'd think by now I would be used to this treatment, but the pain was the same as always.

My hands curled into fists before me, and as soon as the door slammed shut, the tears I had been holding back broke free.

My heart rose and fell in rapid succession.

I deserved better than this, I really did.

A sharp pain suddenly sliced through my stomach, and I let out a scream.

“Ugh,” I groaned. I had been experiencing this for a week now, sharp pain in my stomach and chest. It was always brief and lasted two seconds.

But this one was hurting longer than usual.

The pain suddenly disappeared, and I sighed in relief. I stood up, about to go to the bathroom to shower and clean up, when it hit again, this time stronger.

I collapsed to the floor with an excruciating scream.

“Help,” I yelled, and a second later, my handmaid came barging into the room.

“Luna, are you alright?” she rushed to my side.

“No, please… take me to the hospital now.” I choked out, the pain worsening by the second.

I felt like I was going to die as the pain crawled up all the way to my chest.

Carla looked around frantically while I clutched my chest.

She began to yell for help when

It suddenly stopped again, and I stood up and followed Carla to the car, where the driver drove us to the packhouse.

……

“Congratulations, Luna. You are pregnant.”

Doctor Mayfair said with a smile as she walked in.

My eyes widened. I had arrived at the hospital an hour ago, and the doctors had run some tests, telling me I was going to be fine, and didn't need to worry.

“Really?” I exclaimed and she grinned wider

“Really!”

My heart swelled. I couldn’t believe it. I had given up on ever having a child with my husband years ago after so many tries with not so much as a miscarriage. At some point, I even thought my human genes could not mix with his werewolf genes, even after the doctors assured me that it wasn’t.

“But why was my stomach hurting so bad, doctor?” I questioned, sitting up from the bed.

“Well, your stomachache was due to the lack of certain vitamins your baby was taking from your body. He is a strong baby, an alpha actually. A strong breed, just like his mama.” She smiled. “That’s what caused all the commotion, but don't worry. I have prescribed a few medications for you to help with the pain.”

“I see. Thank you.” I smiled, wondering why she had said my baby was just as strong a breed as I was. I wasn’t even a werewolf. I was human, at least to my knowledge.

Maybe she was just trying to flatter me.

“You are welcome.”

“How far along, doctor?’ I questioned, already imagining the joy from Jakeson when I gave him the news.

“Seven weeks.”

……

I left the hospital, feeling so much better. Doctor Mayfair had given me a list of medicines to take, and a type of food to eat, to avoid for the next nine months. Carla had done most of the listening because I was way too excited to sit still.

“Congratulations again, Luna>” Carla said.

“Thank you, Carla. I feel great. Get the chefs to make the Alpha his favorite meal while I go find him. We will be celebrating tonight.”

“Of course, Luna,” Carla said and left.

While I made my way to the hotel Jakeson was having his meeting today, I found Leo in front of the hotel talking to a couple of well-dressed wolves.

I walked up to him, and his eyes widened in surprise.

“Luna, what…What are you doing here?”

“Where is the Alpha?”

“He's in a meeting right now.”

“Good, you're on your way there, aren't you?”

“Um, yeah.”

“I'll come with you then,” I said.

He looked a little skeptical, but I didn't wait for him to say no.

I walked into the hotel, and he followed me.

Jakeson’s povI slowly opened my eyes as I winced when it was hit with a bright light. I tried to raise my hand to shield my face, only to find it was restrained by something. With a heavy sigh, I fell back in my bed to look around and think of where I was.I was in a hospital, but how had I ended up here? What was the last thing I could remember? That was when it hit me. I had been engaged in a fight with the one-eyed bandit and he had sliced me with his wolfsbane-infused sword while also being shot with a bullet laced with wolfsbane.I had almost died.My eyes soon got used to the light as I found someone standing by the window. The figure of the person was blurred as I tried to make out who was standing there.“You’re awake!” the person said, as I blinked rapidly, getting the full shape of the blurred person. She turned to me. It was the queen. She was in normal clothes, not her royal regalia. And she looked so ordinary. No guards around her, no crown, no heavy makeup. She just l

Thomas’s povWhile the battle raged, I went to the side with the second leader of the rogues. He looked scared.“We are winning,” I smiled at him. “Why do you look terrified?”He looked around the hidden mound of snow we were hiding behind.“I can’t feel it anymore.”“What can’t you feel?”“The connection I have with my alpha, I can’t feel it. It’s… It’s gone.”My heart skipped a beat for a second, but I shrugged it off. “No. I doubt that means anything heavy. I'm sure it could possibly be signal… problems.”He stared at me like I was a madman. “This isn't some network connectivity problem. This is a link between me and my alpha. A supernatural link. You're treating this like it's some wifi problem.”I started to pray that this wasn't what it was silently. That the one-eyed bandit had not fallen by the hand of Kaelan. If that were true, that would be a huge problem for me and the people backing me up.“Listen to me,” I said, placing a hand on his shoulder to reassure him that all was

Jakeson’s povI felt the warm liquid spread all over my chest as I started to feel the cold wolfsbane weaken me from the inside out.The fight wasn’t over yet. If I gave up now, Luka and Octava could be killed. I wasn’t going to let that happen.“What a martyr,” he laughed. “Jumping in front of a bullet for her.”“I shoved her away and you trained the gun on me and shot me instead.”“Well… someone has to die. I have enough bullets to go around so no worries. When I’m done with you, I’ll go after her. If you survive, which you won’t, I’ll tell you where I buried her head.”My wolf screamed in rage as I stabbed my sword into him, prompting him to scream in pain which shot me three more times with his gun until he was out of bullets.“You missed my heart,” I chuckled. “But I won’t make the same mistake.”With a swift move, I sliced from his stomach to his heart and all the way to his neck. There was no way he was surviving that.I watched the shock show up on his face as he let his weapo

Jakeson’s povI ran into the bandit who sliced his sword at me as I dodged it and gave him an uppercut which had him flying backwards. He spat out blood before cracking his neck and smiling evilly. “That’s all you’ve got? Well… I should be surprised seeing that you are just a little bitch who thinks you can win a fight against a Lycan.”Before he could say anything else, I zipped into him, punching his face back and giving a flying kick to his chest which had him flying back into a tree which broke under his weight. He stared at me with an evil grin before pushing away from it and gripping his swords. “That’s enough. Now you die.”I shoved Luka down before dodging his slash as I flew into the air while giving him a triple kick. He jumped back to evade my attack but not before spearing one of his swords at me.I grabbed its sharp blade, drawing blood and stopping it in its tracks. “Impressive,” he laughed. “I guess now the real fight begins.”My vision started to fail as I noticed I

Octava’s povI rushed to Kaelan who was struggling against two rogues which I found very unusual. He was strong enough to tear through this entire hoard but somehow he was struggling against a few of them.“What the hell is wrong with you?” I asked, after slicing through the rogues and blocking an attack from another one. “You're supposed to be helping me find my son and you're playing with your food. Why would you do something like that?”He helped me punch the rogue away as he fell against the wall with a sigh. His wounds weren't healing. Something was clearly wrong.“What the hell happened to you?” I asked while trying to touch his wounds but he shuddered away from me like he didn't want me to touch him.“Wolfsbane,” he hissed. “You don't want to touch it. It has a nasty taste to it.”I shuddered away from him as I could tell the wounds were really serious. He needed to have his wounds cleaned of that nasty poison or he could die. I looked around to see Harrison, jakeson’s beta ha

Kaelan’s povI looked around to see the men with their weapons trained on us. I could easily escape but the wolves would be caught in the crossfire and they could even die. I wondered if the alpha would have a problem with me leaving his men to die.The one-eyed bandit saw me staring at his people and smiled, spreading his arms wide. “Whatever you are planning to do, I suggest you stop it before you and I have problems.”A chuckle escaped my lips as I stood to my full height and gestured for the wolves to do the same.“You started the war when you decided to go against the kingdom by kidnapping my nephew. What did you think was going to happen?” He shrugged then placed his hands in his pocket, “I do not quarrel with you prince. Now I admire how you traced me here with your men, but I have to let you know that I do not take kindly to anyone finding out my location.”“How smart of you to try to take advantage of my kindness?”“What kindness?” he laughed. “Are you even sure you know wha
