“Scarlett, thank you for seeing me despite preparing for your honeymoon,” Jessica said. She was behind her office desk when her lips thinned into a smile. She urged Scarlett to take a seat, saying, "I have important news to share with you."

“Of course, Misses Hogans,” Scarlett acknowledged. “And it’s not a bother. I had things to take care of here before leaving tomorrow.”

A day after their wedding, Scarlett and Kaleb were arranging to fly for their long-planned honeymoon. She was buying last-minute necessities at the mall when Jessica asked her to drop by at the Longhills And Hogans Associates Law Firm.

“I just wanted to set your expectations.” Jessica began while picking up an envelope from her desk. She gave it to Scarlett, saying, “Because when you return, you will have added responsibilities.”
