Chapter 1

Gabby Reid landed on the floor, furious and embarrassed. She quickly got up and yelled.

“Aren’t you just his friend who doesn’t know any boundaries? How dare you call him your husband?

“I’m going to teach you a lesson on how to keep the right distance from a married man!”

She had come prepared. She took out a few metal rods and raised them to hit me.

I held her arm back with all my strength as I questioned her back with suppressed anger.

“I don’t think we’re talking about the same person. I hate disloyal people. How could I possibly be a homewrecker?”

A lot of people started gathering around us in curiosity.

It was going to be hard for me to get out. I was afraid that I would not be able to make it home, so I lowered my voice to negotiate with her.

“Madam, if you have any requests later, you can look for my lawyer. Now, I’m rushing home to visit my ill grandfather. I don’t have time to waste here!”

After I said that, I walked past the crowd.

However, I did not expect her to take out a photo of Dan Anderson and me.

I subconsciously answered, “That’s indeed me and my husband.”

Gabby immediately exploded.

“Dan said that you’re his childhood best friend, but you’re telling other people that he’s your husband?

“Great! You’re pretending to be his best friend, but you’re actually a homewrecker who slept with him, right?”

The crowd that I had pushed away earlier got closer again. They were staring at me judgmentally, as if I had really done something really awful.

Gabby smugly started to swing the metal rod at me.

The crowd did not give me any room to move, so I was hit a few times.

After wincing from the immense pain, I felt my entire arm going numb.

I warned her fiercely, “My grandfather is ill today. I really don’t have time to waste with you here. Get out of my way now, or else I’m going to sue you!”

I was the only granddaughter.

My grandfather doted on me the most. He even made me the successor of the company he founded.

How could I be late when he was gravely ill?

Gabby yelled at me fiercely.

“Today, I’m going to let you know who I am! I’m Gabby, the lawful wife of your so-called husband!

“You’re a shameless homewrecker! You’ve asked Dan to go on overseas trips under the guise of being his best friend and even took wedding photos with him while also meeting his parents!

“I’m going to kill you today!”

As she accused me, she started hitting me again.

I gasped in pain.

I was also a woman. Naturally, I understood that she would be furious if her husband betrayed her. However, I would never condone physical violence.

I grabbed her metal rod with my bare hands and warned her with narrowed eyes.

“Enough! I married Dan five years ago. I have my marriage certificate with me. We are on good terms. It’s impossible that he would cheat on me. You must be mistaken.”
