When I saw his sad expression, I was almost tempted to take back my words. However, I remained firm in my decision. When he stared into my eyes, I pursed my lips and frowned at him. He looked pitiful when he looked down and stared at the floor, but I couldn't just let it slide.
"Please accept my apologies, Selena. I didn't want to hurt your feelings, but it just happened, and I felt bad for it," he explained.
As I listened to him, I could feel the sincerity in his words. However, it wasn't an excuse for his lies and pretensions. "You must have laughed at me behind your back because you managed to fool me, Lee."
"It's not true!" He denied my accusations. "I know it's hard to believe, but I fell in love with you during our first meeting."
"Now, you're making me laugh. Are you telling me that it's love at first sight? Are you kidding me, Lee?"
"Can you give me another chance? I want to prove to you that my feelings are sincere," he said.
"Lee, I am terrified to accept you again or to live with you again under the same roof. However, I believe that I still need you," I said without thinking twice. I may appear desperate because of what I said, but I couldn't just let him reach out when he exerted some effort. When the intensity of his gazes changed from being serious into a lusty one, I tried to distance myself from him, but he was fast enough to hug me tight.
Lee's mouth engulfed mine, and I softly purred as he gently bit and sucked on my lower lip. I was engrossed in his kisses as usual, but he abruptly came to a halt and glared me down. Then, he whispered into my ear, "I want to show you how fantastic I am in bed," and the hair on my nape rose.
"Have you had your morning meal yet?" When Lee realised what I was asking him, he snorted.
"Not yet, and you?"
"I was ready to sit down and have a cup of coffee when I saw you! So, do you want a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, or a glass of milk?"
He jokingly said, "Hmmm, I'd love to have some freshly squeezed milk from a woman's breast," and I blushed at the image he was trying to conjure up in my mind.
"Yuck!" I slapped his arm, but he deflected the blow. "Let's eat first, then we will continue with this conversation," I told him, and he was hesitant to follow me into the dining room. "Come on, Lee. Don't test my patience," I warned him. "Good morning, Aunt," I greeted the woman, who was also shocked upon seeing my bodyguard again because I had informed her about Lee's resignation.
"Mr. Lee!" She said in surprise.
Lee smiled at my aunt before she asked us to take our seats. When she went to retrieve our food from the kitchen, I glanced at Lee, and he looked nervous. "Why do you look like that?" I asked when he kept on massaging his fingers.
"Like what?"
"Nervous," I replied with a single word, and he arched his brows in response.
"I can't help it. Your father will be shocked to know the truth," he stated.
"Then we will not tell him," I suggested.
"I don't think it's a good idea because my parents are coming over for dinner tonight. I told them to expedite the wedding," he said without blinking an eye.
Suddenly, I felt uneasy about the fact that his parents were aware of us. "I am not sure about the wedding, Lee."
"I understand, baby. However, your father is set to marrying you off to any of his acquaintances with good financial standing, whether it's another man or me."
"So, are you implying that I should just choose the lesser evil?"
"Yes," he replied, and for a moment, I became speechless.
"We need to discuss this wedding thing after breakfast, and we must come up with agreeable terms on how to make this work," I told him.
"Shhhh, she's coming," he warned me about my aunt, and I immediately shut my mouth and composed myself.
"Join us, Aunt," I said.
"I'm full," she refused the offer, and after setting up the table, she left us alone.
Lee smiled and locked his gaze on me for a short period. "I like the new you, I mean, I enjoyed your former mischievous self, but you're blossoming now and looking so lovely."
"Now, that's the biggest lie you have ever told me. We saw each other last night, and now you're trying to seduce me with your flowery words. Anyway, which version of myself do you prefer?" I challenged him to choose wisely.
"Can we eat first? I'll tell you later," he said, and I nodded because he was correct. The food on the table couldn't wait, but our conversation could stay anytime.
For a moment, we were so focused on filling our stomachs, and the discussion remained neutral. He avoided discussing our current issue and focused on his introduction. He mentioned his brothers, Lance and Ethan, who married the woman they loved, and he also said it was his inspiration for complaining about the fixed marriage with me.
"Are you sure that you don't want to back out now? It might be too late before you realize your mistake," I jested.
"Unless you tell me to go, then I might reconsider," he answered.
"And that's what I've been telling you since you got here, but you just got so bossy and horny early in the morning. You didn't give me a chance to be so mad at you, and we ended up kissing without patching things up between us!"
"Your eyes didn't look sincere when you said those words a while ago," he reasoned out.
"Seriously, Lee? Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore. I could be mad at you right now, but I have decided to keep you unless there's a better candidate to become my husband," I told him, and his jaw dropped in surprise. "Don't be surprised, though. You will know that our parents are doing this for the sake of expanding our business."
"Are you saying that you may dump me anytime?" He asked, and I chose not to answer directly and just shrugged off my shoulders, but then he slapped the table so hard, and I was shocked. I glared at him for being violent and threatened to leave.
I was taken aback by the property where he took me after the wedding. From the exterior, this property seemed to be luxurious. It was constructed of grey brickwork and had white cedarwood ornamentation. Tall, circular windows allowed plenty of natural light to enter the residence, and they have been strategically placed throughout the structure in a reasonably symmetrical design. The property was furnished with a standard kitchen and three bathrooms, a large living room, two bedrooms, a small dining area, a library, and an oversized garage with plenty of parking spaces. The structure has a rectangular form to it, and beautifully landscaped grounds completely encircled it. A large number of smaller windows would let plenty of natural light enter the rooms below the roof. Besides the home itself, there was paved land around it with numerous party areas, such as a luxury grill and a campfire. I was amazed at the design, but it was expected for Liam to own something gorgeous. “Vera buil
The majority of the female guests were taken aback by the edginess of my wedding dress, but the majority of the male attendees were drawn to my cleavages. I shook my head in surprise when I realised that even married guys were staring. When a marching song began to play in the background, my father appeared behind me, and the two of us went together toward the red carpet that had been spread out on the ground. Over the years, he practiced hypocrisy, and he successfully convinced everyone that we were on good terms. “You should get an award for being the finest actor in the world, Daddy,” I said with my teeth gritted, and when I turned to look at him, he grinned at me. “It will be over soon,” he whispered back as if his statement would make a difference. I was so preoccupied with my predicament that I completely missed the presence of the guy waiting for me at the altar. I looked around for my groom, but I couldn’t seem to locate him anywhere. “Can you tell me where Robert is?” “T
The skyline was dotted with towering buildings, many constructed within the previous ten years or less. The city was seeing unprecedented growth in employment, which has received a great deal of attention. Several distinct cultures have left their imprints on education and the personality of the city as a whole. What was once a city of little variety has evolved into a fusion of everything. The sense of belonging to a heterogeneous society has made its imprint. One may choose from hundreds of clubs, theme restaurants, and diners. Those looking for something different could go sightseeing, touring the city, doing aerobics, or visiting one of the numerous other recreational places. “My parents can be talkative sometimes,” he suddenly said while he turned left in the next corner. “Your parents? Wait, are you saying that we are going to dine with them?” “Yes. We are heading towards one of your restaurants,” he said. I slapped his arm to question his motive, but he just ignored it. Th
Robert remained quiet and puckered his lips in response, and I frowned at him! Was he under the impression that he could intimidate me with a severe look on his face? He has to rethink his position! I stepped away as he walked towards me as if he was going to kiss me! As soon as he got close enough to kiss me, I ran upstairs like a coward and didn’t look back. An hour later, I went downstairs to talk to my father, who had just gotten home. It was up to me to persuade him that my marriage to Robert would be a complete catastrophe. The bodyguard stayed in the shadows but kept a close eye on me at all times. “Daddy, can we talk?” “Can you tell me what it is this time?” He inquired in a severe tone that made my palms shiver in terror every time he spoke. “I don’t get along with Robert, Daddy.” “You’re not required to do so. Just get married to him and let him save you from total humiliation! Your future is safe in Robert’s capable hands!” He said it in a matter-of-fact tone, which I
When Robert stared at me for a second, I thought he would rebut my accusation, but he remained staring at me, and it was uncomfortable. When he remained silent and just stared, I arched my brows at him and asked, “Are you not going to say anything?” “You used to like me when we were younger,” he said, implying that I had a crush on him in the past. I thought I would die of annoyance when he mentioned the ‘crush thing’ from the past. “It’s all in the past, Robert. While it is true that you are still good-looking, I don’t think I can survive living with you. You smelled like a dead person!” “Having body odour is normal, isn’t it?” “Oh, my God! Here we go again,” I let out a sigh of exasperation. When he tried to come closer to me, I yelled and turned around. I hurried towards the door, my hand covering my lips with the other hand. He had feet that smelled like a dead animal, and I felt sick to my stomach! Could he get any more repulsive? “Selena, wait!” “Stay where you are, please
Robert was rendered speechless, but it didn't take him long to change his expression. In a split second, he stared daggers at me, and the way he looked at my neck, and I was worried he would strangle me to death. For a moment, I felt relieved that my father hired a new bodyguard who was probably lurking near us to save me anytime. "Are you looking for the bodyguard? I'm sorry to disappoint you, Selena, but he's not here now and wouldn't be able to save you. Do you understand what I am trying to tell you?" "Yes!" I replied, and without any warning, I ran towards the safety of my room. When I heard him call my name again, my hands shook in fear. When I looked behind my shoulders, I saw him move a little, and as he got closer to me, I became so nervous and almost peed on my clothes. I pointed my finger at him and warned him incessantly not to come closer, but he merely grinned as if there was something funny going on. "Stop where you are right now!" I shouted at him. "Selena, what's
