“Can I come?”

Ralph requested for the seventh time in ten minutes.

With an annoyed whine, I responded for the seventh time in ten minutes. “No! for fuck sake if you ask me that one more time, I’m gonna slap you across the face and I won’t regret it!” I clamored as I picked up my backpack from the table.

When I turned to him, I found him gaping at the floor with a beaten-down expression. I sighed, striding towards him and placing a hand on his shoulder, he looked at me. His hazel eyes were flickering with dismay. “Look Ralph, I know you want to come but you see my boss is an asshole and he doesn’t like extra visitors that aren’t customers and I don’t have money to buy you something that would make you a customer. If you want to come so badly, make yourself imperceptible or something. You’ve done it before, I don’t get why you can’t do it again,”

“I can do that but I can’t,” came his answer.

I was still questioning if indisputably he was my angel because I didn’
