Anxiety!

As I—we, the entire student body—waited for the school day to end, anxiety happily devoured every nerve in my body.

As Ralph and I entered the school’s cafeteria, all eyes turned to us. I tried to shrink myself by allowing Ralph's larger body to frame me, but their eyes followed my every move, murmuring about how dead Ralph and I were. They were probably right.

While I was being cut down by anxiety, the school was exploding with energy. It was only supposed to be a basketball game, but I could see the thirst for blood in their eyes as they watched us take up our seats. Felix was already there with his lunch.

His gaze flitted between us. "The whole school is talking about the game; have you ever played basketball before?" he catechized, peering at Ralph, who shrugged.

I sighed and rested my head on the table, stifled. Of course, the bastard had never played basketball before, but he accepted a challenge from the school's best player.
