CHAPTER 2

I whirled ready to lash out at whoever it was, only to stop dead when I saw who it was, He was something straight out of a fantasy novel, he had this slight tan thing going for him, and the tux he wore did nothing to hide how toned his body was, I had to tilt my head backwards a bit to get a good look at his face, he had honey brown eyes and a very defined jawline and Dark hair, I’d have really hated it if he were blonde, no offense to my mother.

“ You’re drooling Princess”

“Get your own wine peasant” I shot back, he took a step forward and I took one back, knowing My back would hit the balcony if I went back any further and I think he knew it too because he took two steps forward, trapping me between his hard body and the balcony, I scowled up at him to find him smirking down at me.

“You don’t happen to be Devonne Ivy Marchetti now do you?”

“Of course I’m Devonne, everyone in Goddamned Cali knows that”

“Cocky isn’t she?” He chuckled a little to darkly for my liking, but my body seemed to have a mind of its own as my breasts tightened and my nipples pebbled. I instantly regretted my choice of clothes as his eyes went lower than my face.

I wasn’t ashamed of my body, added to my perfect skin, I was very curvy, but right now I wasn’t feeling overly good about having full breasts and hard nipples pointing out at someone I was really starting to dislike.

He cocked his head to the side as his eyes roamed my body, I was pretty sure I wasn’t breathing

“I knew I made the right choice by wanting to meet you in person” he said, dragging his eyes back to my face, I let out a breathe and then I realized what it was that he just said. My eyes widened.

“Edward?” No no no, this self serving piece of shit couldn’t be the investor I came here to meet. “The aunction is about to start…….. I have every intention of breaking your winning record” he said before leaving me on the balcony.

I see, so that was why he wanted to meet here, what an idiot, I could win this stupid aunction if I wanted to and without effort too, but I hate doing things like this rashly.

It was a Friday, I mused, if he were really interested in my stock, he’d meet me in my office on Monday, not some silly aunction for the properties of dead people who have no will.

I don’t know that for sure anyway.

I stayed on the balcony and made a call, after a few minutes I went to the roof, got on a helicopter and left.

“We were supposed to have a business meeting on Friday!”

I was looking at a very very angry Edward and I was smiling, I’ve always hated Mondays, but this one was a cake that had a cherry on top, seeing his face like this.

And I was smiling without a care in the world,

“I hope you won the aunction though, I was kind of rooting for you” I added with a sweet smile

“You, the deal is off!”

He seethed

“There was never a deal to begin with” I added even more coldly “Get out”

I started pinching the bridge of my nose again, my headaches have gotten worse lately. And I hadn’t the slightest idea what to do about them. I looked up to see that he was still standing there, with a softer expression on his face.

“You look tired,” he said “That’s because I am tired, just go away will you?” I muttered.

“Need a head massage?” He tried again “What, you wanna go from annoying me to being a masseuse?”

“No, I just happen to be good really good at giving massages”

It seemed I was starting to like when he talks, something about the way he manages to make that simple statement sound erotic.

“No thank you Edward, I think I’ll pass”

“Alright then, let’s get to the meeting at hand, I am here with my board members and if you don’t mind, we have to get down to what we’re really here for” He said, now sounding all pompous and official.

“Thought you said you weren’t interested anymore?”

I eyed him skeptically

He was definitely acting cynical.

The board meeting went on pretty smoothly without any rude or annoying remarks from Edward, which seemed

surprising even though I did just meet him a couple of days ago.

It was agreed upon that they would invest in our wines and Breweries business and we share whatever profit comes off it 70/30. The 30% being my profit and the rest being theirs.

Edward’s board members were somewhat shocked and became a little bit questioning as the deal sounded too good to be true.

“No company would want to give out that much profit, are you sure about this” an old man, who really did seem like the eldest amongst them asked me

“I am very sure, my next move in this company of mine, will be almost entirely on your money, and looking at it from that angle, I’m losing just about nothing, also I will be granting a refund, should our partnership not work out the way you would’ve liked” I paused, to ensure they understand my point before continuing.

“I may come off as shrewd, but I like being transparent in my business dealings, if there is no other thing to discuss, then I’d like to excuse myself so you all could make a decision, I’ll just have my secretary draw up the necessary papers in my end and I’ll be expecting yours”

I walked out of the conference room, feeling more exhausted, I looked at the time and it was almost 6 pm. In a few hours the workday would be over, I didn’t even have my breakfast or lunch for that matter. I got into my office and collapsed into my chair.

Sansa, my secretary and personal assistant came in with two bottles of water and a lunch box on a tray, she set it before me and stood back

“Is there anything else you’d like me to do for you Devonne?”

“No thank you Sansa, but I didn’t ask you to get me anything”

I said looking at between her and the tray in confusion.

“I noticed you were in there for long, I just decided to take initiative and get you something and the headaches you’re having might be because you’re dehydrated, hence the water”

I knew there was a bemused expression on my face at that point, but I just dismissed it because Sansa has always been smart.
