Chapter 39

Micah's POV

I jumped out of my seat with a sneer. Lovette grasped my hand with fear in her eyes as the walls shook again.

"Micah…" she whispered my name, and I bent a little and cupped her cheeks in mine.

"I'll protect you," I said to her and placed a kiss on her lips.

I followed Hayden out of the room and asked him what was going on.

"The Witches are outside the castle trying to bring it down. Turns out they have destroyed a few of my villages too," he growled, and I scoffed.

"Been there."

Guards were moving all about the halls, and the others kept running for their lives.

"What do we do now?" I questioned as we stopped behind the closed door that was beginning to break off.

Hayden's guards had already gathered behind us, and he turned his head to look me in the eye. "Help me protect my castle."
