Chapter 38

MICAH'S POV

Hayden led us to a room where Devina quickly drew a circle with white chalk on the wooden floor. She placed candles around it, murmuring words I could not understand as she lit them up.

Devina took out a cup and a knife from her bag and walked over to Hayden, who was standing next to me by the wall and kept on chanting. He nodded at her and stretched his palm towards her.

She quickly made a cut on his palm and a few drops of blood entered the cup. "Step into the circle and kneel," she said to me and placed the cup and knife in front of me.

"Adhuc mea vox in umbra terrae audita est, sed nunc verba mea tibi salutem ferent. Per sanguinem vitae, per spiritum naturae, per arcanum potestatemque aeternam, ego te medicabo." She chanted in a loud voice and walked around the circle.
