Ray woke up at the butt crack of dawn. He had a lot to do today in order to get things ready for his mating ceremony with Leah and not a lot of time to do it. The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 1pm, so no time to waste. Francesca and Dallas were in charge of decorations and setup, while Dallas would make sure their pack members were taken care of. The pack needed to be briefed on what would happen during the ceremony and the changes that would occur. A wolf mating ceremony was similar to the human wedding ceremony for the first half of the ceremony where the couple will stand in front of there friends and loved ones and recite their vows to love, cherish, and protect each other until death do them part. However, the second half of the mating ceremony is where things get interesting. Whereas in the human wedding ceremony the couple would exchange rings, this is the part where the couple will mate and claim each other with the pack as a witness to their union, and they with mark ea
Rage. Undeniable rage. The feeling of wanting to rip someone to pieces coursed through Theo veins. If it hadn’t been for her brother showing up, he definitely would have put that bitch in her place. A woman should be seen and not heard, dammit! Theo hid in the shadows of the forest at the edge to the clearing in the wolves’ territory. He had grown suspicious of Leah when she claimed to have an appointment when he had asked her out for lunch. He had a feeling she was hiding something so he had followed her at a discreet distance. He had no idea she was blowing him off for this.He glanced around the clearing speculatively. There were tables and decorations set up all around. Music was playing in the background while children played and danced. It appeared they were having some sort of formal celebration since everyone looked to be dressed in formal attire. A wedding perhaps, or a banquet? He shook his head. It didn’t matter what these heathens were up to. All he cared about was his wo
Leah made her way to the clear located in the center of Ray’s pack territory and landed a few feet away from where the magnificently decorated tables were set up. There were a lot of people present already. People were dancing to the music that was playing over the loud speaker and she could see little pups running around, weaving in between and underneath the tables. She could hear their excitement as they noticed her and ran over to greet her. She quickly shifted to her human form with a smile and began greeting them back, giving hugs to the pups that asked for one. They were a friendly bunch, that was for sure. Leah had expected a small amount of reservation from the pack at first. She was, after all, a stranger to them and not a wolf. But, to her surprise, she was welcome with open arms by everyone. She received lots of complements on her dress and how pretty she was. She was really used to all the praise, so she just smiled and thank them with a blush on her face.Leah looked up
The first part of the ceremony was beautiful. The couple said their vows and the pack cheered as they kissed. They followed it up with lots of food and dancing. Leah danced with Ray for a while, before one of the teenagers requested a dance with her. Ray growled unhappily, but Leah just laughed softly. She kissed Ray on the cheek and whispered in his ear just soft enough for only him to hear. “Play nice, my love, and I promise to reward you later.”Ray’s gaze heated, and he kissed her deeply for a moment before reluctantly releasing her. “Fine. I’ll play nice.” He turned and glared at the boy who was standing next to them with a shy blush on his cheeks. With a sigh, Ray patted the pup on his shoulder and walked over to sit down next to Francesca who laid her head on his shoulder with a chuckle. He poked her gently on the arm with a mock glare on his face. “Oh, shut up!”Leah pulled the sweet pup to her and wrapped her arms around his neck with a soft smile. He was adorable. He was tal
Theo gritted his teeth before slamming his fist down on the large mahogany desk that separated himself from King Sullivan. This was not going the way he had planned. The king was currently sitting across from him glaring at him like he was the one who had done something wrong, when in fact it was that whore of a daughter of his!Theo growled loudly. “Did you hear what I just said?! I saw your daughter with my own eyes! She was making out with a damn wolf when she is supposed to be engaged to me!”King Marcus narrowed his eyes at Theo and leaned forward, steepling his fingers together on top of his desk. “I heard exactly what you just said, and I will deal with my daughter later. Right now I want to discuss what happened between you two in my home yesterday.”Theo gulped nervously, deciding to play dumb. Innocent until proven guilty. “I have no idea what you are talking about.”King Marcus roared loudly, slamming his own fist on the desks so hard it cracked, making Theo jump. “Don’t pl
Leah stepped into the house and let out a deep sigh as she headed to her father’s office. Now that she and Ray were officially mated, she needed to talk to her father. She knew he wasn’t going to be happy, but what choice did she have. She was madly in love with Ray, and she knew she would not have been happy with anyone else. Now that she and Ray were officially mated, her father would have no choice but to agree to an alternative way of solving their problem with Queen Dominique’s clan. She made her way to her father’s office, not bothering to head upstairs to her room to change. She wanted to get this conversation over with as soon as possible. She made it to his office where the door was slightly ajar. She paused when she hear two male voices. The first voice she knew was her father’s voice, calm yet firm. The second voice she recognized as that asshole, Theo. Theo sounded very angry, as noted by his raised voice. Leah kept quiet and listed in to their conversation.“Are you out o
Ray sighed wistfully. He was missing his mate already. Leah had said she needed to go home to speak with her father. Ray had offered to go with her, but she declined his offer. She said that this was something she needed to do on her own. She needed to tell her father about their mating. She said that she felt bad for going behind her father’s back, and that the least she could do was to meet with him face to face and explain what was going on. Ray understood where she was coming from, and so he didn’t argue further about her going by herself.Ray kissed her deeply and saw her off, watching her dragon form fly away until he could no longer see her. He turned and headed to where the construction team were working on the new pack houses. He walked over to where his nephew, Carter, stood holding some tools for Jagger and ruffled the pup’s hair. “Hey, kiddo.”Carter smiled adoringly up at his uncle. “Hey, Uncle Ray.” He looked around as if searching for someone, and Ray chuckled knowingl
The howl of an enraged wolf broke Ray out of his shocked state. He looked up to see Dallas in shifted form rushing towards one of the pack houses. Ray’s heart lurched when he noticed that the house was already on fire. But what really alarmed him was the sound of a small pup crying for her mother. The pup was still inside the burning building.Ray raced over to the house and rushed inside, making his way up the stairs to where he could hear the child crying her heart out. The heat from the fire was starting to get to him, but he needed to get to the little girl. Why was she still inside the house when everyone else was making their way to the main pack house? Where were her parents? The child’s cries grew louder the closer Ray got to the room he assumed she was in. The door was closed. Not wanting to risk burning himself by touching the door handle that he knew would be hot from the fire, he yelled for anyone in the room to step away from the bedroom door. After a few seconds, he lift
