Leaving Home

I stare at her while she’s inhaling her last wind. They dragged me here, saying just in case of emergency. But, what kind of emergency are they referring to? This woman is already breathing her last breath, it is a miracle that she's able to deliver a child in her situation.

I feel uncomfortable when she looks at me, with her tired eyes, I want to avoid her gaze. This woman only asks for favors and spit command like a boss, I don’t hate her…. It's just, she’s annoying. Shes the type of girl na hindi mabubuhay pag walang utusan, Nakakabobo sya sa totoo lang.

She smiled at me weakly at mas lalo akong nairita “please guide my kid” ngumiti ako ng sarkastiko sa sinabi nya. The nerve.

Someone dragged me to a room. Judging by the wallpaper and furniture, it’s the kids’ room. Dali dali nilang binigay ang mga damit nitong nasa bag, feeding bottle, powdered milk, pacifier and pampers. When I saw the pack of items in my hand, it hit me…. Magbabantay ako ng bata.

Bigla akong nanginig sa realisasyon. Anong alam ko sa pag babantay ng bata? I look at them, alarmed. Mga bobo, mas maiging patayin nyo na ako ng maaga kung ako lang din naman ang pag babantayin nyo. But I can’t talk like that, it’s the mistress’ baby.

I’m just a 19 year old, teenager and I already dirtied my hands. I’m the not-so-innocent black girl of Mistress Natasha and now, I already have a baby to take care of.
