Chapter 596

Author: Light Breeze
Xavier's breath was extremely warm. He lowered his head and tilted it a little, seemingly trying to kiss Gabriella. But he stopped at the last second and stared at her intently instead.

Their bodies were pressed tightly against each other, and their chests rose and fell with each breath. The air was thick with intimate and shameful tension, and it even brought back memories of old.

That month was a whirlwind. Xavier's stamina was endless, and Gabriella begged him to finish it every single time. Both of them simultaneously thought about how reckless they had been those days, their expressions complicated.

After a long time, he murmured, "Is it too late to start loving you now?"

Gabriella chuckled. "Now? Xavier, what do you take love for? Do you think it comes and goes at your beck and call?"

Xavier lifted her delicate chin, his tone carrying a hint of love. "You've never been this difficult and rude."

Gabriella smacked his hand away. "Well, you better get used to it."

Xavier opted not to engage with Violet further, neither meeting nor contacting her. He realized, like any mature person, when it was time to back off.…In the evening, the promotional event ended, and Gabriella, knowing that Xavier was coming to pick her up, dismissed the chauffeur and instructed him to return to the company instead. She had just walked out of the media platform building when she spotted a black Bentley waiting for her at the base of the stairs. It was then that the car window lowered, revealing Xavier's striking face. "Get in."Having settled into the passenger seat, Gabriella rummaged through her handbag. "I'll call home and say I won't be back for dinner. Why don't we head over to the Ziegler residence for dinner instead? You can explain that we coincidentally met, and you wanted to visit the children." Xavier, with his hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, asked with a languid smile, "How about I inform your folks that we happened to coincidentally sleep

Gabriella followed Xavier's gaze and looked over. She smiled gently. "Allow me to introduce you guys. He's Xavier Lund, and she's Violet Johnston, the female lead for 'The Blind Well.'"Xavier, Violet actually went to your college. She's probably your junior or something."He turned his gaze away and smiled faintly, "Really? I hadn't noticed."Violet's gaze flickered a little. She walked down the steps and stopped in front of Xavier, looking deep into his eyes. "Oh, you're actually my senior. Xavier, it's a pleasure to meet you."She reached out her slender and fair hand, letting it hover in front of him. Xavier wasn't an inexperienced fool who was clueless about matters of love. He could distinguish the difference between courtesy and flirtation, and Violet was being overly overt with her advances. Clearly, she was feeling him out. He didn't get out of his car or shake her hand. Instead, he took a measured step by nodding gently and driving away. The black Bentley cruised on t

  • Leaving You Bereft   Chapter 608

It was 3:30 am. Gabriella, Ash, and Lynn were sleeping soundly in the bedroom, but not Xavier. He took the guest room, but sleep wouldn't come to him. Instead, he sat on the balcony, gazing blankly into the night. The cigarette between his fingers was about to burn down to the butt, but he didn't stub it out before it almost scorched him. To the east, dark clouds rolled across the sky, dragging with them a pale, white glow.Xavier was reminiscing about his past. It was something that happened a long time ago. During his college days, he fell in love with a lady, pure-hearted and delicate. She came from a remote mountain region. She never spent more than ten dollars in the cafeteria, and she wore the same clothes over and over. He had never seen her in any of the gatherings amongst friends. Normally, she spent her days in the library or working a part-time gig at a convenience store. Back then, Xavier frequented the convenience store, bought a lot of stuff, and gave them all to

Xavier was hopelessly blunt. Gabriella might've been thick-skinned, but not even she could take it. She took her time combing her hair and said deliberately, "Ash and Lynn are sleeping on the bed. Where are we supposed to do it?"Pressing his thin lips tightly against the back of her ear, he let out a warm breath on her soft, delicate flesh, causing her to tremble slightly. He looked into his eyes, not missing out on any of her reactions. "During our honeymoon, there were days when we did it in other places.""Xavier." Her voice was soft and tender, her tone tinged with a hint of shyness and irritation. He chuckled, finally stopped teasing her, and focused all his attention on the woman in his arms. He asked in a sultry voice, "Do you miss me?"Naturally, Gabriella didn't want to answer that question. Aside from sharing the twins, their only connection was to satisfy each other's needs. It would be too sappy to say they missed each other. That said, Xavier had his way of making

It was almost evening by the time they went back to Xavier's villa. In the late autumn, the setting sun cast a vivid color across the sky, blanketing it in a purplish hue. The black limousine slowly drove into the villa, circling the place once before coming to a halt on the porch. An elm tree stood nearby, reaching into the sky, its dense canopy shading everything from the fading sunlight. The place was filled with the delicious aroma that drifted over from the kitchen. And the clinks of pots and pans could be heard from there. When the black limousine was parked, Xavier got out of the car, opened the door to the backseat, and carried Ash and Lynn out. Then, he rested his gaze on Gabriella and asked tenderly, "What are you still doing in there? Do you want me to carry you too?"Gabriella shot Xavier a sideways glance, pride in her eyes, but he absolutely loved it. His beloved woman finally looked at him. He put Ash and Lynn down, letting Guadalupe take them away and play wi

  • Leaving You Bereft   Chapter 605

At first, Xavier wanted to go to Crimsonir. He desperately missed Gabriella. He was halfway to the airport when he received a call from the Zieglers. Lynn had a fever, and she missed her mom and dad a lot right now. Gabriella was in the mountains, doing location shots for the documentary. And there were no signals there. So, they called Xavier instead. Willow rushed back to Brindley during the evening. The doctor dropped by the Ziegler residence twice, but Lynn's fever never went away. The little girl lay on the bed, sniffing uncomfortably and shedding tears. The sight was enough to break Julian's heart.Underneath the dim lights, Julian carried Lynn in his arms, soothing her with his soft voice. Meanwhile, Willow had the medication in her hands, feeding them to the little girl.Every time Julian coaxed Lynn a little, she would take a little bit of the medication. Her round, petite face looked utterly pitiful—clearly, a child raised in a family full of love. By the time Xavie
