Chapter 6: Taylor's Pain

“Kei,” he tapped her shoulder and woke her up.

He was glad that she fell asleep, she was able to take a good rest before facing whatever it is at home. She rubbed her eyes and stretched out a little, it made him smile at her.

“Aww, I am really sorry, T. You should have shouted at me when I fell asleep.” She said, smiling at me and started to take her seatbelt off.

He just shook his head and kissed her forehead.

“Get your ass inside your house and I will be heading home, I need to have some good rest before tomorrow’s work.” He reached for the handle of the door and pushed her shoulders,”Go ahead babe, I might ask you to lend me a couch if you don’t get out now.” he teased her although he is not going to do that as he knew the situation.

She shook her head and opened the door before looking back at him. “I will be happy to let you sleep on my bed, T.” She teased him back.

He realized they were still playing couples but he knew he had to stop, he does not want her to be in more trouble than she is now.

“Should I hear anything from you?” He asked before driving away.

“I will send you a message.” She kissed her hand and waved him goodbye. “Let me know when you get home!” She shouted as he made a U-turn.

He gave her a thumbs up as he drove away.

He was still thinking about Keanna as he drove home. He didn’t know if it’s good that he did not ask her what was happening to her and what the problem was. He just hoped that whoever that man was living with her was not hurting her physically since he knew she must be emotionally hurting.

There was no traffic and he got home quite fast. He was about to get in the shower when he received a call.

“Taylor speaking,” He answered the phone while preparing his pajamas.

“Hi, Babe,” he heard the person on the other end. He made a second look on the phone and regretted not looking at the screen before answering it.

It was his ex-girlfriend, Mia. She was actually the reason as to why he was at the club that night. He was planning on getting wasted that night. He was on his second shot when he saw Keanna and he decided not to get drunk when he saw how she was already too drunk to go home.

“What do you want?” he asked rather coldly.

He does not believe in second chances especially when it comes to cheating. That is something he could not understand and could not accept especially when they have been in a relationship for almost two years. Of course, he hasn’t told his family about her, he was planning on it though, then the cheating happened, so his plans went down the drain.

“Babe, I’m sorry, I promise that was just a one time thing.” She has the audacity to tell him.

“We’ve talked about this the last time, Mia.” he sat down on the bed as he knew this may take a while. She had been trying to talk him into fixing their relationship and he does not want his feelings to affect his decision. He actually thought being married to her was their last stop on their relationship but it seemed like it was not her plan all along.

He couldn’t help the tears that fell down his cheek as he remembered them being together. He could hear Mia saying things at the other end of the line but his mind is not accepting them. He was too hurt to think about how she currently feels. She was the one who made the mistake and unfortunately that mistake was something he could not forgive.

He cleared his throat before speaking.

“Mia, please understand that I am hurting right now and you are the reason why I am feeling this.” He is usually not vocal about his feelings but Mia did affect him this way.

“I know, Taylor and believe me, I understand how you feel and I know that it won’t be easy for you to accept me back again in your life but I hope you would consider it.” Her voice quaked. remembering what had happened.

“Let’s not do this anymore, please. We both need time to heal and we don’t need to be reminded of each other for that to happen.” He made sure his voice wouldn't crack while he was saying those things.

He went straight to the bathroom and stayed under the shower for a couple of minutes. He let the tears flow in his eyes. He is hurting, he couldn’t explain how he is feeling right now and all he could think of was the pain he felt when he caught Mia cheating with another man.

Mia told him about the party that they were having in her office. Someone was celebrating a promotion. He wanted her to have fun and she wanted him to come, which he agreed with. He was to go to that place where they were celebrating that night but he was kept in the office as some emergency came up but he did come. He was not able to see Mia right away, he waited for her and called her but she did not pick up her phone.

The place was packed with people and he was not able to find any of her colleagues. He decided to take a seat at the bar and waited for her to come as he had sent her a message where he was seated. He waited for about 15 minutes and when she still had not shown up, he decided to roam the place. He was about to go up the second floor when he saw someone in the corner of the bar. He looked closely at the person and he was certain he knew that person.

There she saw Mia talking with someone and he could see her smiling. He was to approach her when the man she was talking with kissed her. He did not do anything, in fact, he waited for her to push him away and slap him like what a girl would do if someone suddenly kissed her especially if she was in a relationship with someone else. But that didn’t happen. There he was, watching her fiancee-to-be kissing someone else in the corner of the bar and seemed to be enjoying it instead of being angry at the guy who kissed him.

It was as if he was stabbed in the heart and the anger started to boil in his blood, he grasped his fist and walked to the corner where they were and held the guy’s shirt. He punched the guy and he looked at Mia while the guy was trying to stand up. People around them screamed and the guy started to walk towards him. The guy tried to punch him but he must be so drunk he could not even stand straight.

Bouncers appeared and dragged the guy away from him, they must have thought the guy started the fight as he was more sober than him. Then he looked at Mia, who was startled and could not say anything. He left her but she ran after him, she was in his heels all the time while he walked to the parking lot. She started explaining what has transpired but he does not have the heart nor the right mind to listen to her reasons. There would be no good reasons for her to do that.

It was so different that he cannot look at her anymore the same way he used to. Remembering that night always makes him cry. He’s in pain but he knows he has to move on and right now, there is nothing he can do but do what he’s been doing like the other times. He finished his shower and went straight to his bed after putting on his pajamas.

His phone lit up and he saw a message from Kei asking if he’s already home.

“I’m home, let me know if you need anything.” At the end of the day, it was still Kei who was in his mind before he fell asleep.
