Kitty woke up in a clean, soft bedroom, wearing nothing.
She didn't take anything over from the bar, or, her old life. The one room key and the cloth on her were everything that she had when she checked in the hotel last night.
But being a luxurious hotel with sky-high price, which, she only got to knew after she walked in the lobby, it had almost everything she needed. All she did before she went to bed was taking a long, hot bubble bath in the huge bathtub.
Her woolly blue hair fell on her tiny body right to the waist. She sat up in the bed, hugging the soft, fluffy beddings close to her chest and shook her head, giggling because the ticklish feeling on her waist caused by her hair.
It was a great, sunny morning, nothing to complain about.
So many things had happened in the past week that waking up in a room with a 61th floor view over the city was like a dream to her. Kitty covered herself with a bath towel and got off bed to sit by the French window -- the southeast corner of the room was not a corner, but a huge floor-to-ceiling window with a curve in the places of two walls, giving a great view of both directions -- and gazed into the city scene.
What now? Kitty thought to herself. She used to worry every morning when she woke up, about food, about where to live, about her siblings, but none of those worries was like what she was worrying about now:
Is she a witch? Was her mom also a witch? Did her parents really die only just last month? Had they been hiding away from her the past three years? Why did Perses send men to get her?
And what was bothering her the most, was that when every one of these questions were popping out in her mind, it was Erebus's face she was seeing behind them.
What does he have to do with any of them?! Why cannot she just stop thinking about him? It's not like they have any connection whatsoever.
"Let's figure it out after some breakfast. I have to live first, IF I want answers." Kitty mumbled to herself and stood up, only to froze where she was because she just realized, while she WAS living in a very luxurious hotel, she didn't belong there:
She had absolutely NO money. Nor an identity for that matter.
"Ughhhh..." Kitty let out a cry and threw herself on the huge bed, covering herself again under the cover as if that could make all of her troubles go away.
It would be nice to have some magic now, if she really was a witch!
Kitty sat up again and went to pick up her cloth from the floor. She didn't survive on the street for three years just to starve in a luxurious hotel bedroom! She didn't have anything else if not her will to live. Any problems thrown her way; she would find an answer in the end.
She was in desperate need of a job, any job. But it wasn't like she went to some fancy schools, or any school for that matter. Her mom home schooled her until she was 12 because she thought she could teach Kitty more than a school could, and Kitty DID do well in her first year ever in a school when she was thirteen, until she got pulled out of there and sent to an orphanage just a year after that.
"Bet you didn't see that one coming, mom." Kitty mumbled after a long sigh.
She learned enough to educate herself, AND she learned enough to survive on a street. But she didn't have the luxury to educate herself in the past three years, and it somehow felt weird to look for food in a garbage can only to returned to a luxurious hotel in the night.
"Is this a joke to you?!!!" Kitty yelled at Erebus in her head.
Kitty rubber her hair in frustration, but right when her hair was a mess, there came a knock on the door.
"Hmmm... yes?" Kitty answered in a small voice. She had no idea who could be visiting her right now, at this place no less. Only Erebus and his men knew she was here.
Right when she was struggling about what to do, a woman's voice rose from outside the door:
"Good morning, miss. Room service. I'll just leave the breakfast out here in your lobby. And someone left you a box with a note on it, I'll leave it here on the table too." Ohh, right. This room had its own lobby. A small hall between her room and the hallway so that room service won't be a bother to the guests, but no one could get in without a key either, so to protect the guest's privacy.
"Ohh! Thanks!" Kitty replied, and she could hear steps walking away.
After a few minutes, Kitty opened her door and stuck her head in the lobby. No one was there.
She slide into the room with one arm around her waist -- she was still in the bath towel.
Breakfast looked fantastic. It was two slices of toast, a fried egg, a cup of milk and a bowl of strawberry. Her favorite!!!
"Luckyyy~" Kitty yelled and jumped to the bowl of strawberry. If she had the sensation of a werewolf, she would have known someone was right outside her door. But she was not, so she just dropped a strawberry in her mouth and went on the check the box.
Erebus leaned against the wall of the hall way, listening to the sounds coming from Kitty's lobby. His lips curved into a smile when he heard her yelling "lucky". Of course she loved it, that was the result of his experiment he did the first morning when they had a meal together. His huge bowl of fruit cuts got him a list of fruits that she likes, from top favorite to just so so.
He stood straight again and left without making a sound, and only the hall way witnessed a legendary alpha smiling to the air for nothing but a little girl's happy morning.
"Something to remember me by." Said the note on the box.
Of course it was from Erebus, and in it was her new clothes and necessities they picked up together for her.
Kitty took the box back into her room with a deep thought look on her face. She dressed up herself in silence, and hurried with fresh up and breakfast and getting herself ready for another day of her new life. But just when she put her hand on the door knob again, she suddenly slowed down and put down her hand. She turned to lean against the door and took a longgg sigh:
"As if I could forget you, you mischievous, charming devil."
Out for a whole day job hunting, Kitty was exhausted and starving by night. Breakfast was great but not enough to last her for a whole day. She dragged her feet back to the hotel, tired and dizzy, almost falling to the ground when she went through the revolving door.Walking with an empty stomach was horrible enough, not to mention it was all for nothing!Of course she couldn't get any job. Any proper place on hiring request at least a citizenship of any candidate, if not also a degree. And those that weren't so big on being legit were NOT making any offer even close to fair! They were more often th
Kitty was starving when she woke up the next day. She waited in the bed, and then on the floor, in front of the French window and in the end, she was pacing back and forth in her room, for that breakfast, the one meal that was promised in her day now.The knock on the door came through. Kitty jumped towards the door but she didn't open it. She was listening and waiting for the owner of the footstep to leave. Everything was the same except the fruit. It was pineapple today. She took the plate back to her room and sit by the window, eating every bit of food on there. But she didn't leave right away af
"What did you do this time?" A woman's voice surprised Themis, who was then sitting on the kitchen floor back in the bar, holding her knees close to her with a blank face as if she lost her soul.Themis looked up in horror: "Why are YOU here?!"It was the waitress from the hotel; the one that took Kitty to the job interview."Well I HAVE to come because my boss is here." The woman laughed and sat down on the kitchen table in a sexual way, hinting at the door.Themis turned her head to follow the waitress's eyes, only to find the man who interviewed Kitty standing by the door with his arm held in front of his chest, looking at her with a cold face."You are her boss?!" The man in front of Themis shocked her worry about Erebus being mad at her out of her head."Stop joking around." The man said coldly to the waitress, ignoring Themis."Are you not the boss?" The "waitress" giggled, "Why do you get the office and I have to be waitress then?""Because that's Lord's order." The man answered
The standard procedure of the rest was easy. Kitty got her uniform, nametag and a stuff card -- as in, her food stamp for all she could have so long as she works here -- for only a simple form. She spent the next few days living in the cloud. She had all day to herself, and a few hours working at night -- from 9pm to 1pm -- learning about bartending at a open-air rooftop bar with a great city view. She barely even stepped out of the hotel, not only because she didn't have much to throw away, but because she didn't have to.All she needed to do now was waiting for her 18th birthday -- which was only
"What?!--" Kitty started her sentence, only to realized she was basically yelling. She took a deep breath and a few seconds to calm herself before she tried again: "What are you doing here?""Well, I'm here for a drink, which I believe is the one you are holding in your hand." Erebus smiled innocently as ever, and stook up to take the cup on her plate.Kitty backed a step at his action, trying to hide the plate behind her. She was NOT gonna give him her "Winter Night"! What was going on?!"Yeah, well, are you aware that you have a bar, TOO?" Kitty stressed on the "too" hard with her mind a total mess, trying to process what he could possibly be here for."Ohh, this bar is WAY fancier than mine, right?" Erebus didn't try to steal the drink from her. He just stood there with still the huge smile, looked annoyingly confident and mischievous as if his appearing in front of her was absolutely normal."Yeahhhh!" Several voices rose from the table, agreeing Erebus's joke. Of course--His loya
Kitty sat in the chair nervously while Erebus taking sips of her Winter Night in a casual and relaxing way, as if it was a romantic date and he was just appreciating a good drink. He said he wanted her help, but all he talked about was all kinds of random topic BUT his "urgent problem"."I probably should go back to work." Kitty took the plate, "Let me know how I can help you, okay?""It's okay, the owner is aware of this already. He's fine with you lending me a helping hand." Erebus just gently pressed the plate, hinting her to sit down again."What-- when?!" Kitty suddenly felt like she just stepped in another trap."Well, it's only right that I asked for permission before I ask for your help, right? I won't want to get you into trouble." The sly fox didn't seem at all sorry, but as if his asking the owner for her time before he even talked to her was a matter of course.Kitty squinted her eyes at him and yelled at herself in her mind: How could you keep forgetting he's just a smooth
"A small town named 'Evergreen' was found burning with none of its residents anywhere to be found. The reason for the destroy of the town is still under investigation. The police are suspecting it to be some kind of natural disasters leading its residents to leave..."Kitty turned off the TV and fell back into bed. Now that she had a few stable days without too much to worry about, she finally felt a bit settled and had more room in her head to think about stuff. It has been a week since Erebus delivered Perses to the King. It was not like the King of the underground werewolf world would announce hi
"Wh--what?!" Kitty couldn't believe her ears.Just when she was finally accepting the fact that her mom was a witch all along, and she might be a part of the magic world, she was once again, thrown out of it. Just like how her whole life had been:losing everything."I..." Kitty opened her mouth, but couldn't find any words. She didn't know she wanted a witch life that much. Now her expedition was over, and she was sad it never got a chance to exist.
