Chapter 26 (part 1)

After two days locked in his room, Adam decided to get up. As he sat up, however, he was seized by intense dizziness. His body was clearly signaling a total lack of fluids, food, and sleep.

He felt like a wreck both inside and out. His body lacked strength, and his heart lacked emotion. He was utterly drained; the tears he had shed had drained him of everything.

With difficulty, he reached for the bedside table where he had placed both mobile phones.

The constant calls from his sister had made him so uncomfortable that he had turned them off after informing his boss that he was unwell and would not be going to the office.

For two days, Adam had been lying there, staring blankly at the white ceiling, while hot tears poured down his pillow.
