“I sealed the palace before I left to come and find you so no unwanted persons can get in, that includes my parents who made me think you died and made you father think I died, the mate they said I have and my cousin Mali who has been trying to undermine me for years with no success until her with her stroke of luck being that she is with pup and I had none” she looks back at me “now that’s not true is it?”

“It most certainly is not” She pushes the large doors open and steps out and I remain hidden inside, I do love a good dramatic entrance, “Empress your back!” they all bow “may I ask what all the noise is about?” “uhm we simply could not understand why we were unable to enter the palace your eminence” “and for what reason would you all need to defy my orders and enter the palace?”

“We were told that you were headed off to find this so called pup of yours so we merely wanted to talk to you and stop you from having a sense of false hope, that is all”

“How very thoughtful of you Mali, so very unlike you, and what was your purpose?” “Rozey we are your parents and we have always done what was best for you and for the Kingdom” “including leaving my pup out in the world, how does that help the Kingdom mother? I am dying to know!”

“W-Well uhm we were sure you would have had a pup with your mate to be the heir after you lost your first one dear” she steps a little lower “is that so” they all step back “and the Winter Wards, your purpose here is what?”

“We were told that something seemed to be amiss with you your majesty so we simply came to see for ourselves rather than listening to one side of a story” “and does anything seem amiss with me?” “well we will admit that you seem to be very angry though I do not grasp why” “shall I let my parents bring you up to speed then?”

“Rozaria Milva! Enough of this now, are you trying to make us lose all of our dignity?” “haha! Dignity?! Do you even know what that is? Tricking my mate into thinking I was dead and taking me away, tricking me into thinking that I had lost my pup and tricking me into thinking that this, this imposter was my mate! Is that what you called dignified?!”

“What has happened to you out there Rozaria? Are you sound of mind? Do you hear yourself? How could we trick you into thinking someone who isn’t your mate actually is?”

“That’s a fine question indeed Mali, one which I will have an answer to, one way or the other!”

“You go too far! If that is the case and your so called pup is indeed alive where is she?”

It’s time to shine! I push the door open and everyone gasps “here I am” I walk down to stand besides my mother “and as for her mate, here I am” my father says coming down to join us. I can hear whispers all around us and all eyes turn to her parents and Mali as well as her mate.

“H-How do we know you are who you say you are!”

“We can see clearly that they speak the truth, mother and daughter share the same aura and mates thread chained in gold from one to another and a duller gold thread chained from the empress to Adriel and another thread from Adriel to Mali”

“Winter Wards, what are you saying?”

The tall pale men come closer and stop looking at us “it would seem someone has been seeing a dark witch or wizard and it has slipped under our noses to form temporary bonds” the one who has been doing all the talking looks to another and he leans his head back and opens his mouth in an unnaturally wide and long way but no sound comes out.

The one Mali falls to the floor screaming, holding her ears “make it stop! Make it stop! Stop it! It hurts! Stop it!” when the man closes his mouth my grandparents and Adriel bleed from their nose, ears and mouth before dropping unconscious.

“Interesting”

“What is?”

He walks over to them and passes his hand over them “it would seem they have been under the influence of dark magic for quite some time, they will require treatment and once their systems are cleared they will return to their normal selves, and Adriel will be able to recognize his true mate Mali”

“Mali, you will tell us who and where you made contact with a person of the dark, you know this is forbidden! How could you do something like that to your own kind?!”

Mali spits at my mom and my mom says nothing to her “Golems take her to the Fire Pit, we shall see how long you hold out there”

My grandparents and Adriel unconscious bodies float up on their own “with your permission, we would like to take them with us, even if Mali refuses to speak we should be able to trace the magic back to it’s caster”

“Thank you, please do take them” they bow and disappear in a puff of snow.
