Chapter 4

" What the heck are you doing here and why the heck do you smell like that? "

Gosh, how I wish I could rip this woman's voice box out and step on it " considering I live here Nika, where else would you expect me to be after my shift at the hospital? and what you smell on me the scent of a Rounce we just killed in town " " what the f-k is a Rounce? wait! did you say in town?! oh my Goddess! my boutique! " she runs past me towards the door and slams it on her way out, it's amazing that she didn't think once of her children but is worried about the store.

I shake my head and head on up to my room, I need a shower.

You may also be wondering how come she doesn't know what a Rounce is, it's because they're rarely spoken of and even more rarely seen, they dwell in lands far away from wolves which is why I was so shocked to encounter one here, the only reason I knew what it was, was because of Tabitha, she showed me books about different mystical beings, the good and the bad and even the forgotten ones and Rounces were among them.

There was even one time she took me out to the wastelands where they dwell and we came across a few among other creatures of the dark there, we needed to get a plant that grows only in that region and I volunteered to tag along with her just to see the area and the creatures that lived there.

Rounces are basically demon pigs, souls of the wicked that turned into such a creature to continue their torment upon the earth even after death, however they can't withstand the sun which is why I was so shocked to see that one today here, far from the wasteland and out in the day time, it truly doesn't sit right with me and I am positive Alpha is going to want to know, how I knew what it was as it is not something of common knowledge unless you're much much older, a creature of the dark or a witch, in this case I am neither of the three but know one of the latter.

I strip down and get into the shower to wash away my night shift from the hospital and the gosh awful smell from the Rounce, I wash from head to toe with my favourite Vanilla body wash, shampoo and conditioner, when I'm done I pull on a tank top and shorts and throw my clothes in the machine to wash, I do not want the scent to stick at all or drag on in the house.

I trek to the kitchen to make myself something light to eat as my last meal was earlier the night before, I usually make my own groceries and keep them in a separate pantry to the rest of my family to avoid any conflict with Nika and co.

I opt for a bowl of Oats with Blueberries and a cup of Watermelon juice after, I clean up and head back up, by then the machine cycle had finished and I tossed them into the dryer and plopped down onto my bed, I will have to make some time to visit Tabitha and tell her about the Rounce attack and find out if she has any idea how it ended up all the way here.

I'm so damned tired, I truthfully work all these shift because I want to spend as much time away from the house as much as possible, it's insufferable to be here and feel so damn unwelcome in a home by everyone.

I am out like a light in no time.

My body naturally wakes up when it's time to start getting ready for my shifts, so I'm up from my nap at 20:15, the bathroom to freshen up and get dressed, our uniforms are brown and dark green, naturally for camouflage purposes, they used to be black until I asked in passing if that colour combination wouldn't make more sense to the Alpha, I honestly hadn't given it much thought as I spoke while having dinner at the pack house with them, so you can imagine my surprise a week later our squad captain announcing we have new uniforms issued and when they were distributed, they were brown and dark green, naturally I never said anything but did thank the Alpha for taking my passing comment seriously.

I pulled my hair back into a bun and pull my tam over, considering the colour of my hair I'm sure you can understand the reasoning behind it plus the nights are starting to get cold as winter starts approaching, I lock my room door and push my key down into my waist bag next to my dagger, I came home more than once and was greeted with my room being ransacked and in some cases, personal belongings missing, I never complained because I knew nothing would come of it or perhaps because I've never shifted my step mom and sister presumed I wouldn't know they were responsible and I kept mum because I was unsure as to who it was, however my senses work just fine and I can scent on every item that was over turned, damaged or broken which of their scent was on it.
