Chapter 94

“You’re such a flirt” “so I’ve been told, where to?” he gives me directions to an area we can talk, I take us there and by the time we get there, the sun was setting “beautiful spot” “isn’t it?” he inhales deeply “it’s been so long since I’ve had the time to come here, thank you for today Roro, it’s been a long time I’ve felt so carefree”

He pats my shoulder in a fatherly manner “you’re welcome Zach, now before it gets too dark let me tell you, my Alpha sent me out on a mission to try and get some information in regards to the creature that infiltrated our pack that day, so I was out in the forest, Zach, can I trust you?”

That look in her eyes there’s something she wants to say and be assured it’d be kept between us ‘what do we do Drax?’ ‘we want her to trust us don’t we?’ ‘naturally, she’s my daughter-in-law but what if what she says is something I must say to Tyler’ ‘choose you words properly and promise her’ “I will give you a Goddess promise if you assure me that what you’re going to tell me will no way pose a threat or harm to anyone” “it’s nothing like that but I just don’t want you to judge me”

I smile kindly “you can trust me Roro, I pledge to the Goddess your secret shall remain with me so long as it brings no harm to others” “thank you” she takes a bottle from her sack and hands it to me and I take it and look at it, “what is this dear?” “the potion I coated the net with that caught the Jablesse” “potion? You mean?” “yes, I know a white witch, you see I didn’t have the most loving upbringing at home with my father and step mother and their children, she and I happened upon each other one day when I was out in the woods just outside my pack border and we slowly became friends, she’s like the mother I didn’t have growing up, she taught me potions, healing medicines and more”

“My Alpha got suspicious of me after our pack was attacked by a Rounce before and I was able to recognize what it was and knew how to kill it”

“I assured him just like I’m assuring you that she is not dangerous, she shared her knowledge with me and treats me like her own and not once has she asked me anything about my pack to say she using me to spy on the pack or whatever, she’s only ever been concerned about how I was treated and my exhaustion working two jobs back to back just to avoid being at home”

“anyway, after the infiltration, Alpha sent me to find out if she would know what it was, while I was in the forest where she dwells I noticed a group of Rogues, nine in total walking and talking about a woman telling one of them to come see her and bring others for her other girls, of the nine of them, only one was sceptical but still went with his friends”

After about Ten or Fifteen minutes Six of them came running through the woods, running for their lives and hot on their trails was the Jablesse and a few jackolanterns, naturally I couldn’t leave them to die so I went to their aid, when I got to them they were surrounded by the lanterns and under the enchantment of the Jablesse with the exception of one, I am unsure as to why it didn’t work on him as there is no way he’d be mated and still go looking for women right?”

This is really a lot “I ambushed them capturing the Jablesse in the net and spraying some of this” she hands me another vial of potion “they ran when I sprayed it which gave the men a chance to get away, my friend heard the commotion and came to my aid, she’s the owner of the box the creature was stored in, we then hid and not too long after, more Jablesse and lanterns came looking for her but they couldn’t sense her as the box seals them inside, even if she was screaming they would be unable to hear her and here we are now”

She looks up at me as though searching my soul, she looks so vulnerable “thank you for trusting me with your secret, I will trust your friend through your affiliation, because had she not taught you we would not of had the chance to capture the Jablesse, I do understand your reluctance in talking about knowing a witch in light of how our kind views them since the war but thank you for telling me the truth”

She smiles at me and her eyes water which tugs at my heart “I think we should head back now before it gets to dark” the sun has already gone down but the sky was dimly lit with and orange hue.
