Willa's POV
I darted my eyes at the seat in front of me, and then I darted them back at the Alpha.
"What?" He asked with a shrug.
"Why am I at your house?" I asked, trying to suppress my impatience. I couldn't afford to shout at the Alpha...I repeated in my mind as I forced a smile.
"You were injured, so..." He shrug again.
How was that even a logical answer?! I got a house! Though it was also technique his, but...
"I want to go home."
"This IS your home, from now on."
"This is YOUR home. You gave me a home, a week ago." I frowned. How was I supposed to hide my one million secrets from the Alpha when I live IN his house?!
"Exactly, now I'm giving you this one." He grinned at me.
He grinned at me!
Something was wrong with him. Either that was Rudy, or he won the lottery. But it wasn't Rudy because his eyes didn't flicker.
The Alpha stared at me, and I stared at him--
"Please don't tell me you are waiting for me to make the breakfast." I almost snapped at him.
I was JUST badly injured by HIS spoiled little princess! He got me a shoulder bag just because she tried to murder me, and now she nearly succeed, shouldn't he be getting me a car or something by now?
"I WOULD say yes, but--." He smirked.
"My ribs hurt..." I clutched my wounded side and faked a painful look.
"That's weird, you should be healed by now." Alpha Kirsch put down my notebook on the table and leaned into my face, "Maybe I should feed you more blood, the dads-moms way?"
I jumped back a step, staring at him in alert. He smirked.
I sighed as I rolled my eyes, heading to the kitchen defeatedly. The next second I nearly bumped into a full plate. The plate rose out of my way as I flinched back, but then an arm pulled me into a hug!
"Oh my God!" I flinched back and looked up--
"Al?!" I shouted with a gasp, shocked frozen.
"Al?" The Alpha repeated my word in a mutter to himself, frowning in confusion.
Al grinned at me as he put the plate on the table. I stared at him with my mouth open in shock. He was in an apron! He was in an apron with his right arm wrapped in bandage--
"What happened to your arm?!" I reached out to his arm, and Al rose it closer to me but I didn't dare to touch, "Who could have hurt you...why are you even here?!"
"The Alpha did, who else?" Al made a bitter face, "HE broke my arm, AND he is making me cooking for him with only one arm!"
He rose his wounded arm to show me, like a kid telling on another.
I snapped my head at the Alpha, feeling anger riled up in my chest. How dare he?!
"Why did you hurt him?" I demanded, glaring at the Alpha, hardly able to control myself. I no longer care about staying in the pack anymore. I wanted my revenge! No one hurts Al!
Alpha Kirsch suddenly sat up straight, looking nervous as his eyes darted between me and Al before he furrowed his eyebrows at Al: "Can you please explain to her? She already hates me as it is!"
Al burst into laughter.
"So when you said you stayed in town, you meant at the Alpha's house?!" I asked Al, leaving the comfortable nest I just made in Al's arms. "I could have sneaked here--"
I bit my lips, realizing this was Alpha-inappropriate content.
Al grinned at my slip of tongue.
"Wanna help me with the rest of the breakfast?" Al nudged me on the shoulder as he went back to the kitchen, and I followed him.
It was a huge kitchen with absolutely no trace of any recent usage, except for that morning. Sunlight sprinkled little shiny stars on everything, but the several plates emitting delicious smells caught all my attention.
"You made all these by yourself?!" I shouted in awe, staring at the food piled in the kitchen. He made toast AND pancakes, with scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, two different sausages, AND bacons, all nested comfortably in different plates.
I poked the pancake and got the Maple Syrup on my finger. I put my finger in my mouth before I looked up at Al--
"It's soft!"
"Like how it SHOULD be," Al chuckled, gazing at me with a smile, "You do that again and Cerberus would bite you."
I NEEDED granny to meet Al. He would understand my shock when he meets granny's stone-bread, and maybe granny could learn a little one thing or two from Al!
"He won't! So, his name is Crebures?" I grinned at him, hiding my finger away, "He is the best and cutest!"
Al's eyes flickered.
"Cute name." I mumbled, knowing Cerberus was peeking out from Al's eyes, "I missed you. Where have you been?"
"Out. Sorry." Cerberus grunted and I burst into laughter at his clumsy answer. He stared at me with a confused look, turning around with his eyes fixed on me as I moved along the plates Al filled up with magic.
"What can I do?" I stole a blueberry from the pancake plate.
Cerberus frowned for a second and Al's eyes was back to his ocean blue. Cerberus hid away. Al tapped his temple lightly with his fingertip, as if adjusting the exchange with Cerberus: "He knows nothing about cooking--ouch!"
"What's wrong?!" I frowned nervously.
"He doesn't like me telling TRUTH about him." Al rubbed his temple with a naughty smile. I let out a surprised laugh as I walked over, putting my fingertips on his temples and rubbed softly. His eyes flickered for a second. Cerberus peeked out before he hid behind Al again.
Al pulled me in for a long, tight hug before he let go of me. He curved his lips as he handed me a plastic bag: "You are in charge of these."
"Strawberry!" I shouted in ecstatic before I grabbed it, looking for an empty plate, "They are my favorites--"
"Can I have my breakfast anytime soon? Some of us have work to do." A displeased voice came from the kitchen entrance -- the cold Alpha got impatient.
Oops.
I knew Al and I owned him favors just by staying there, but still, he was totally bullying Al!
"Right away, your highness," Al smirked as he picked up two plates, heading out.
Kirsch grabbed the plate out of Al's wounded hand with a frown as he protested: "You are just doing this to get me on her black list!"
Why was he so grumpy about that all of a sudden? He had been on that list ever since he rejected my appeal to join the pack for no good reason.
Al laughed as he headed out with his wounded arm draped over Kirsch's shoulder. I stared at that in shock. How could Al stand the cold grumpy Alpha and be so happy around him? Was he so nice to me just because he was like that to everyone?
I felt a little sad.
"Please don't put Alpha Kirsch on your black list," Al noticed me standing where I was with my mind wandering off. He came to me as he appealed, "Alpha Kirsch would only bully me even more if you do."
I frowned, darting my eyes at Alpha Kirsch who froze where he was, looking at us nervously.
Al pulled me into his arms from behind so we both faced Kirsch. His arms were around my waist, and his chin landed on my shoulder. I held my breath as my body stiffed at his touch. I froze nervously, the tingle rushing through my skin made me forget that little silly sadness I had a moment ago. I felt like the thin shirt on me burnt into flames as his hot body pressed against my back.
He turned and pecked me on my cheek before he whispered by my ear: "I need you here to protect me."
Alpha Kirsch: "..."
Well, I guess I was living at the Alpha's place now.
Willa's POV Al and Alpha Kirsch sat at the two ends of the dining table, and I sat on the first seat on Al's right-hand side. I never paid too much attention to food, but Al's cooking really blew my mind. I couldn't stop myself from getting more pancakes and making different combinations under Al's suggestion. Though it was such a waste to Kirsch because he just put everything together and piled a pancake mountain on his plate. "It's Sunday, where are you gonna work on a Sunday?" I turned to Kirsch after I bit the tip of a huge strawberry. "To the whorehouse, maybe?" Al teased as he leaned toward me. I pressed my lips to hold back the laugh, glancing at the cold Alpha in a sneaky way in case I met his eyes. Al took that chance and bit on the other half of the strawberry in my hand! Sneaky! "I'm not the one drowning in alcohol and women." Kirsch narrowed his eyes at Al, who grinned with mischief. "Really?!" I exclaimed, eyes fix
Taran's POV Searing pain exploded in my chest when Willa said she would rather go to a hospital than let me heal her. I knew it was stupid to feel hurt over such a thing, but the pain of rejection was real. At that moment, I could barely control myself to act normal, let alone smile. I used my arm with great force to inflict pain, that was the only way to cast away the pain in my chest, just by a little. Kirsch stood up to clean the table after breakfast. Kirsch always cleaned when I cook for him. He was a disaster at cooking. I wanted to talk to Willa with this chance but she just grabbed the empty plates out of Kirsch's hand, dodging my eyes: "I'll do it." She was trying to avoid me. Kirsch didn't insist. Instead, he turned to me: "Can we talk?" Though we knew Willa doesn't have a wolf, we still left the house in case she could hear us. We both knew the topic we had in mind was not "Willa-friendly". "She's your mate, isn't sh
Kirsch's POV I should have known that Willa was Taran's mate. I should have noticed a long time ago. I didn't think of it because I was so focused on my feelings toward Willa. There were so many signs. He "attacked" them only to flee himself; He got upset at me joking about Nat being his mate for the very first time; he got grumpy when he thought I might have seen Willa change. I should have known. I didn't think it that way because I didn't thought Crebreus was able to love. He was cold to everyone. He had no friend. He was mad. But Cerberus changed, after he met Willa. He even came out to talk to her this morning in the kitchen. He never came out to "talk", the only times he came out was to punish and rule when Taran was still the Alpha. That was why Rudy was confused about Willa! I only felt the similar pull to Willa, but not as strong at to Taran because I marked him by mistake, and b
Willa's POV I thought Alpha Kirsch went out with Al, but Al came back before I could even finish washing the dishes. "Let me help?" Al reached for the plate in my hand, his finger long and straight. I stared his hand into reaching mine. "It's fine, you are injured." I dodged his fingers and put the plate on the stand. Al paused for a second. It felt like he wanted to take my wrist, but in the end, he just put down his hand with a sad smile. "I'm going out, will be back in a couple of hours." Al put his hand behind his back as he leaned on the kitchen's entrance, "You will be alright for a few hours by yourself?" "Of course!" "There is a pool on the balcony on the third floor, feel free to enjoy." "Thanks." I finished all the dishes before I dared to look up, and to my relief, Al was gone. I wasn't really good at keeping friends, let alone a friend that I had a crush on who also had a mate. I was grateful to be l
Willa's POV I reached for the glass in front of me, but Al pulled it away. "You are underage." He said simply. "Well, it's a bar. The fun IS liquor!" I frowned, reaching out for the glass again. Al grabbed my wrist, stopping me with a chuckle. "You asked my idea of fun, I didn't say it was for all ages!" Al rolled his eyes. "Well, are you having fun then?" I narrowed my eyes with a deadpan. His facial expression when he drank wasn't exactly saying fun. "The meaning of liquor is not 'fun'." Al air quoted at me, and that left the glass unguarded! I stole the glass from him and he reached over to get it back. Nice try. I turned around and took the glass into my arms with my back facing Al. He chuckled at my "defense" when he nearly grabbed my arm instead, but he didn't touch me. "Just a sip!" I looked at Al over my shoulder, protecting my trophy as I pleaded. "It's against the law." Al looked down at me, hi
Willa's POV "Are you sure about this? Last chance to back out." Al asked me in the pitch-black room, taking my hand into his. "I think I am. I wanted it in the first place." I nodded in a serious tone. "You will regret it." Al sighed, worrying about my decision as he took me into his arms. "I never regret anything." I tip-toed and pecked him on the apple of his throat. He chuckled. Light suddenly burst out in the room, and the horror movie started. The movie was alright. A few jump scare scenes, a few death in a bloody way, nothing too fancy. People screamed a few times, but that was that. "You alright?" Al bent his head at me, draping his arm on my shoulder with a smirk. He was too tall for me to do the same. "Of course! So a man she knew came to her house, only to be found later that he was the real killer that had been after her, big deal." I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit lightheaded after the drink. Maybe th
Willa's POV "Willa, is everything alright?" Al waited to ask after our mind link was over. But I felt cold all of a sudden though Al was around me. Dark cloud. I felt a dark cloud over my head. "It was Alpha Kirsch." I turned to Al, frowning and hesitating. Alpha Kirsch obviously didn't want Al to worry, so I didn't want to tell Al my worry. But what if he was in trouble? He sounded off, and I just couldn't put my mind to ease. Al's eyes fixed on mine, as if he could look into my soul. He didn't ask any more questions, but just closed his eyes, only this time he opened them soon. "What did he say?" Al asked, calm as usual. It calmed me. "He said to tell you that, 'everything will be fine'." I frowned, staring at Al, trying to understand his expression. I didn't know what that means, but it was obvious that Al did. "I see." Al nodded, but he didn't look relieved, instead there was now confusion and worry on his face as w
Kirsch's POV The Alpha's meeting took me by surprise. Taran and I both thought it was about Jason seeing the silver rogue outside our pack. But Jason didn't even bring that up. There was little chance that his men didn't mind link him in their last moments. So why would Jason keep that from the Treaty? Jason called for the meeting, but only to make an appeal saying that I should be responsible for the deaths of his men. I felt unease because that was MY plan to distract him from Taran, but it was alarming when it came from Jason. He had no reason to hide the knowledge about Taran, at all. I took responsibility for the deaths, knowing that it wasn't a big deal because while they died outside my pack, it was too close to my border, and I had every right to defend myself. In the end, me and Jason both got the minimum punishment for this disturbance-- A shot of 7% wolfsbane solution. A wolfsbane solution of this concentrati
