Damon's pov

She looked reluctant when I asked her to be my date to the event and I wonder why. It seems like she knows him before I called my P. A. 'get me info about John Humphrey and his relationship with Charlotte' I told him. I must get to the bottom of this.

EVENING

Coralline's pov

I took a bus home. I couldn't wait to tell Sophie what had happened. As usual, I met her at home making dinner.

'Guess what happened today at work' I told her

'you know I'm not good at guessing' she said

I explained everything to her. She stood up and screamed.

'I've always known the both of you are meant to be together. so your stalker is actually your boss and a popular business man. Wow I'm so jealous.' she said.

'Stop gushing, he hasn't even asked me out' I said

'Not yet just wait let me give you guys a week or two. He even asked you to be his date, you guys are going some where.'

'going where?' I asked

'forget about that, so John is actually getting married to Vivian?' she asked 'yeah, they actually fit each since they are both betrayers.' I felt betrayed but it's better like this, I won't get married to a cheat.

We heard a knock on the door and Sophie went to check who it was.

'It a letter for you' Sophie said when she came back.

'From who' I asked

'I don't know maybe your prince charming' she said smiling.

'let me see' I took the letter from her and opened it, it was an invitation letter to John and Vivian's engagement. I scoffed and threw it into the bin. 'what was that?' Sophie asked. I was about to reply her when I heard my phone ringing. I checked who was calling and saw an unknown number.

I picked the call.

'did you get my letter?' I heard a very familiar voice

'Vivian' I muttered

'yes, it's me. Wow you could even recognize my voice easily, did you miss me that much? So are you coming to my engagement……..'

I ended the call half way.

'Gosh I can't believe that girl used to be your best friend' Sophie said

'Me neither, but thank God I've got the real best friend standing next to me who has help me so much. Thank you Sophie for everything.' 'you are always welcome bestie' Sophie said smiling

John's pov

'Did you get her new location?' I asked my private investigator

'Yes sir and she leaves for work around 6:00 AM every morning' he said

'Good make sure everything is ready for tomorrow. I don't want any mistakes

'yes sir' he assured

Coralline, after this you won't be able to leave me again. Just you watch and see.

I laughed fanatically. You will soon be mine Caroline, you just wait.

Coralline's pov

I looked into his eyes and said 'kiss me'. He dragged me close to him and place his soft lips on mine. He started slowly but became rough. He kissed me hungrily like he couldn't get enough.

'what are you doing' he stopped and asked

'Huh?'

'wake up Coralline'

My eye snapped open and saw Sophie's face extremely close to mine.

'Why did you disturb my sleep?' I asked

'It's 6:30 and you're still sleeping'

'6:30?' I jumped out of the bed and went to my wardrope to set the clothes I'd wear. I picked out a black pencil skirt and white top to match.

'Who were you smooching in your dreams?' I stopped abruptly and turned to see her smiling mischieviously.

'No one' I lied blushing profusely

'Well your red face tells me otherwise' she said

I ignored her and went to the bathroom, took my bath and quickly got dressed. I left the apartment immediately to avoid Sophie's questions plus I was already late for work.

I decided to wait for a taxi since it was faster but out of nowhere a black van stopped in front of me and five hefty wearing masks jumped out and came at me. They tried to force me into the van. I screamed for help and tried to escape , just when I was about giving up, some men in black suit came to my rescue. They tackled the kidnappers to the ground. One of them came to me and said 'my boss has been waiting for you'

'Boss…. Which boss?' I asked

'You'll see' I looked back at the kidnappers groaning on the floor, one of the guy's mask fell off and I recognized him immediately. Seth, he is John's head guard. What is he doing here? Did John send him? I had many unanswered questions in my head.

'This way ma'am' the man said. I followed him and he stopped in front of a black jeep. I tried to see who was inside but couldn't because the glass was tinted. The man opened the back door for me and I saw Damon sitting at the edge.

'You know what to do'

'Yes sir' the man said and left

'Come in' he told me and I complied. He ordered his driver to start the car and he zoomed off.

Damon's pov

She was silent throughout the ride. I could see confusion written all over her face. Just you wait Charlotte, the truth would finally be uncovered. I just found out through my investigation that the Humphreys were behind the accident that happened twelve years ago which claimed the lives of mine and coralline's parents.

'John Humphrey, you don't know what's coming for you and your household' I said inwardly

John's pov

I watched in anger as they drove off. F*ck, those thugs are incompetent, including that dummy Seth. How could they get caught? It wouldn't take time before they expose my plans to Damon . That f*cking Damon ruined my plans. I was supposed to be the savior not him so Coralline would feel indebted to me then I can have her under my control. I dragged my hair in frustration.

'F*ck' I cursed loudly. I have to find a way to get rid of Damon. Yes my plans can't get ruined because of that jerk. No way
