"how is he?" Roselyn asked as she approached Xenia.

Xenia blinked her eyes twice.

"I don't know, Roselyn. The doctor is still with him. Maybe the wound is that deep. Beta Dimitri was right, I shouldn't have…"

"What you did ended up saving lots of girls life, what Beta Dimitri said was absolute bull shit, and I'm sure the Alpha will sanction him for disrespecting you." Roselyn ranted.

"No, please, don't let Alpha Maxwell know about this, okay." Xenia pleaded.

Roselyn was so angry but she had to nod.

"It was as if he were only waiting for an opportunity to get mad at you." Roselyn muttered.

The door finally opened, and the doctor came out of the Alpha's chamber.

Xenia rushed to him with her heart pounding.

"Doctor. How is Alpha Maxwell?" Xenia asked, moving closer.

The doctor's expression was grave, his eyes filled with concern.

"He is stable for now. Thankfully the bullet only brushed him through his shoulder, but that means he won't be able to use that particular hand for some time. I had placed his hand in a porch, plus, he had loss so much blood, he will need a lot of rest for him to get well soonest." The doctor exclaimed.

Xenia's heart sank, her mind racing with different thoughts.

"Will he…he will be fine, right?" She stuttered.

"Yeah, he is out of danger. Thanks, the Moon goddess." The doctor answered.

"Thank you, thank you." Xenia cried as she closed her eyes, thanking the Moon Goddess.

"Can, I, please see him?" Xenia requested.

"Yes, you may, but you shouldn't disturb him, okay? He needs a lot of rest, just like I had said earlier. I will take my leave now. In case if anything happens, please let me know." The doctor said, closing his bag.

"Thank you so much, doc. I'm so grateful." Xenia beamed, happily.

"You are most welcome, my Luna." He replied with a little smile and left.

"I told you he will be fine. See." Roselyn grinned.

Xenia forced a smile.

"I don't even know how to look him in the eyes, Roselyn. He almost died, all because of me." Xenia said.

"But he didn't die, right? I'm sure the Alpha will be yearning to see you, so stop wasting time, Luna Xenia, go be with your mate." Roselyn giggled, pushing her to the door.

Xenia beamed.

"I can't believe Anabelle's stepfather can be this cruel. I'm sure that Anabelle isn't aware yet, she would have being here with us." Roselyn said.

"Roselyn, he has messed with the wrong person, I promise you, I will punish him myself, and I vow to give the most terrible punishment that he will be wishing to die. He could have shot me and escaped, but not my Mate." Xenia vowed, her eyes stern firmly.

"I know you will, he deserves it and worse. But for now, go be with his highness, he needs you." Roselyn replied. Xenia nodded slightly, before taking a deep breath, her hands shaking as she pushed the door open, and stepped her foot inside. Alpha Maxwell was laying on the bed, his eyes closed, his one hand bandaged.

He looked so weak and Xenia hated herself for being the reason.

She took a deep breath again, before walking to the bed, and placed her hand over his face.

He opened his eyes slowly.

"Xenia." He muttered, in a low voice, yet with a smile on his face.

"I'm sorry." Xenia exclaimed, starting another episode of tears.

"Shiii, don't cry…" He tried to wipe her tears but groaned, his hand hurt.

"Please, take it easy." Xenia said, standing up immediately.

"Water." He muttered.

"Water? I will bring it, right away." Xenia replied and rushed searching for water.

Her hands were trembling, as she tried to get a grip of the cup, but she ended up spilling the water on the floor.

"Shit." She cursed and rushed to get a towel and wiped the floor.

She took the cup and hastily returned to Alpha Maxwell.

"Thank you." He said as she came with the water, he tried to collect it, but she stopped him.

"I will do it." She replied and took the cup close to his mouth.

He gulped a good amount of it, while staring at her face.

He pushed the cup when he was satisfied.

"What did you do to yourself? Had you been crying?" He asked, wiping some wet strands of hair from her face with his other hand.

Xenia's expression changed.

"You didn't have to take a bullet for me. What if you died!" Xenia scolded.

"And what if I had let the bullet hit you? What if you died? You may be able to take it if I die because I know you don't love me yet, but Xenia, I love you, a lot, I really do. And if anything happens to you, or our babies, I will never be able to live with it." Alpha Maxwell exclaimed.

Xenia bend her head and stared at the ground, her tears fell on the ground.

"Okay, I'm alive, why are you still crying? If you really don't want me to get mad at you, then you will stop crying and go wash yourself up, I really think you need medical assistant too." Alpha Maxwell stated.

"And calm down, I'm a true Alpha, I can't just die like a coward. Come on." He glared at her and she giggled.

"Fine, I will stop crying. Only if you stop talking." Xenia said.

"Mmm, if I stop talking, what should I do, then?" Alpha Maxwell asked, looking into her eyes.

"I don't know, but the doctor said you shouldn't…"

"Unless if you will stay with me, so I can stare at you all the time, only that will keep me shut. Your captivating beauty will be the only thing that can buy my silence." Alpha Maxwell cut her off in a sexy soft voice, his other hand trailing over her face.

Her face was as red as a tomato, she was blushing hard.

"I will wash myself and get you some food, then you can look at me for all as long as you want." Xenia replied and stood up, heading towards the bathroom.
