Nineteen

Xenia had a quick bath and returned to the bedroom, wiping her hair with a towel.

"Alpha Maxwell... would you like to eat something?" Xenia asked, looking through the mirror but he didn't respond to her question, which made her turn.

She saw he had already fallen asleep.

She went over to him and played with his hair while smiling cutely.

"I'm sorry for causing you pain, your highness," Xenia muttered and decided to do something for him that would make him happy and she knew what best to do.

She quickly dressed up and wore something simple, a simple blue gown that did justice to her pretty face and naturally endowed curves.

She carefully pushed the exit door of the chamber to avoid making a noise that would wake him up.

She made her way to the kitchen, yes, she plans to make him a delicious meal that will bring back the energy he lost.

She was acquainted with making dishes that add strength and replace energy loss.

As she made her way to the kitchen, she bumped into someone... Beta Dimitri. He looked at her with a stern expression, a not-too-happy one.

"Sorry." He said and attempted to leave but Xenia blocked his path.

"Sorry, may I help you with something? Your Highness?" Dimitri asked, with a grumpy face.

"You hate me, don't you?" Xenia answered, then looked into his eyes.

Beta Dimitri giggled a bit, and stopped at once, bringing back his old cold face.

"I don't hate you, I hate your guts, I hate how u don't listen to advice and I hate how Alpha Maxwell makes you a powerful Luna." Beta Dimitri exclaimed.

"My intentions were good, I promise," Xenia replied.

"I know they are, but the consequences are something I don't want to talk about. I'm sure the Alpha is still unconscious, battling pains just because he found his mate and she happens to be a stubborn one." Beta Dimitri scoffed.

His last words kind of made Xenia chuckle.

"Fine, I will listen to whatever advice you will have for me in the future, just please don't hate me. I'm not ready to start with a dislike game with my Beta, I mean, our beta." Xenia stated.

Dimitri twisted his lips like he was thinking about what she said.

"Fine, just know that I never hated you. I was so angry at what happened to Alpha Maxwell. He wasn't just an Alpha to me, we grew up together, if I don't see him as my brother then I see him as a best friend I can't afford to lose, that was what angered me because I thought you were Jeopardizing his safety." Beta Dimitri replied.

"So, we are cool now?" Xenia asked, folding her hands and smiling.

"Why does it even matter?" Beta Dimitri asked.

"Okay, stop acting hard to get, I'm sorry okay? And I told you earlier, I had gone through so much already and I don't want to start here by making an enemy, especially when the enemy is the beta of the pack." Xenia stated.

"Fine, we are cool. I promise." Beta Dimitri said and gave her a genuine smile.

"Thanks. I will take my leave." Xenia Uttered softly.

"Yeah, be careful not to bump into someone again." Beta Dimitri teased with a laugh and Xenia glared at him before taking her leave.

She arrived at the kitchen and the maids rushed into her.

"Greetings Your Highness. Do you need something? Tell us, and we will provide it right away." One of them said after they all greeted.

"You didn't even have to take the stress of coming to the kitchen by yourself, you could have informed Roselyn and she would have reached out to us." The head maid said, in a sweet voice.

"It's fine. I'm here because I want to cook." Xenia replied and they gasped, looking like they had been sent with a death sentence message.

"Cook? You? No, I'm sorry but we cannot let you cook. The Alpha won't think twice before getting our heads off, please." They pleaded.

"Don't worry, I got you, he won't," Xenia assured them with a smile.

They glanced at each other worriedly.

"But...can we at least help with something?" They requested.

"Okay, maybe you can help with the veggies and some ingredients, I guess," Xenia answered and they felt relieved.

They got to work and Xenia was enjoying their hospitality.

It seems everyone is nice in the pack except Martin.

While cooking, Roselyn barged into the kitchen looking freaked out

Xenia was worried, thinking it was about Maxwell.

She dropped the knife and rushed to Roselyn.

"What happened to him?" Xenia asked, almost on the verge of tears, her heart plummeted down to her stomach.

"It's not the Alpha, Luna Xenia, is you! What are you doing in the kitchen? Don't you know it's taboo for a Luna to step her feet in the kitchen?" Roselyn exclaimed.

Xenia exhaled a deep breath.

"Gosh, you scared me. And for a minute I thought something had happened to the Alpha in my absence. Don't worry, it's not a taboo to me, I knew of a dish that would make the Alpha strong and it's only right if I make it myself, as an appreciation for saving my life." Xenia replied.

"Okay, since you insisted," Roselyn said.

"I will help you around." She added.

"Thanks, Roselyn." Xenia glowed.

An hour later, Xenia was done preparing the meal and it was already dark, such a long day, right?

She arranged everything in a tray and made her way to the chamber, the maids offered to help but of course, she rejected them and decided to do it herself.

On arriving at Alpha Maxwell's Chamber, she was caught with the scariest sight.

Alpha Maxwell's body was shaking violently, his teeth chattering loudly. His eyes were closed, and his face was filled with visible pain. The bed was soaked with sweat, his body shaking with fever.

Xenia's eyes widened in fear as she rushed to his side, panting heavily.

She placed her hands on his face and she felt the fire burning his skin. His temperature was very high, his body burning with a internal fire.
