 MY MATE, MY PROTECTOR 

    CHAPTER ONE

Estelle's POV 

     Running, fighting, surviving, hiding… violence. That's all my life has been about ever since my pack was invaded and ended. I had nothing left.

     It's been eight years since I became a rogue wolf, fighting different species of wolves and all sorts of other wide animals to survive and thankfully, I'm still alive.

   Always on the run as usual, I stopped by a river to drink and take a nap. The water was cold and refreshing, the perfect thing I needed to cool my body after running for hours under the summer sun.

    I was in my wolf form, Mira, I lowered my muzzle into the river and suddenly I sniffed a strange scent. It was a strong scent of wood and mud and I heard paws hitting the ground from a distance. I knew I wasn't alone in the area, my wolf sniffed out three to four of them, I immediately started to panic but Mira was still calm and continued drinking. I could tell they were close by and they've noticed me too. 'Masculine' Mira said as they moved closer. I picked up my backpack and strapped it to my back, preparing for whatever they brought.

    There were four of them and they already surrounded me and I was still drinking. The first one I saw was a big brown wolf with ugly scars scattered on his body, 'rogue' Mira sniffed as I turned to face them properly. The brown ugly one was bigger than the other three but his wolf size was up to mine, Mira was a large wolf too and everyone we've always come across was always awed by her size.

     "Isn't this the girl that stole our supplies some days back?" One of the smaller wolves said as they all stared at me with preying eyes. 

  "Yh, it's the same scent" another one agreed. 

  "She was also the girl that wounded Jake!" The brown wolf said as he started pacing towards me. I wasn't even sure what they were talking about, I've already broke into lots of rogue camp to steal food and also fought and wounded lots of werewolves too.

    "I have no idea what you're talking about" I said, calculating my steps as I backed towards the river slowly.

      I was caught unaware as the ugly one leapt forward and I slid past him before he landed, he furiously charged at me as he landed again and I dodged again and crashed on him from the behind. 

     He lost balance and fell on his side and he immediately stood up back on his feet. Surprisingly, the other three didn't make any attempt to fight me.

      I quickly scanned the width of the river to measure if I could jump across, it looked like I could try. I pretended like i wanted to hit the brown wolf as I ran at him and he was running towards me too, but I turned abruptly and leapt as high as I could and I made it across with my hind leg slightly hitting the water. It took them a while to comprehend what happened and I started running as fast as I can.

    They all managed to jump too and started chasing me, dodging branches and zig-zaging through trees, I didn't stop. They were far behind but they didn't stop, I was expecting them to have given up but they didn't stop. 

    Mira sniffed a pack's territory border and I knew I should stop but I didn't. I've run too far to stop and surrender to the idiots chasing me. I looked back and could only see one of them, he was the fastest among them and he kept running. I crashed my muzzle into a tree trunk, Mira winced but we didn't stop. We finally got to the border and I wanted to stop but I didn't, instead I crossed into the packed territory ran a little further and stopped.

    I looked behind and finally, they had stopped, they were glaring at me from a distance.

    "Girl I wouldn't do that, that's Nightfall pack" the wolf that noticed my scent, "Their Alpha would have you killed immediately ".

    "Just leave me alone!" I yelled at them in response.

    "We don't plan to harm you, we just wanted to have a little fun with you and you'll be left alone" The ugly one said to me and the others were snickering behind him. 

   "Get lost" I barked at them and Mira winced, my nose was bleeding bad. I was exhausted because we ran for a long time, I sat down nibbling my nose with my paws.

     They were debating whether they should cross the border but they seemed to be very scared, and all of a sudden, they sprinted off.

   I became alert and stood up but Mira was calm. I caught a scent and immediately I sniffed it in, the sweet smell filled me and it was relaxing. My wolf started wagging her tail as she howled softly.

    "Mira, What's the matter?" I asked because she was filled with excitement.

    'mate' that was the only word that went through her head, I decided to sniff in the scent one more time and I realised the wolf was already so close. I turned to face back and I saw a big Red wolf with red eyes staring down at me, he was a bit taller than my wolf, all I did was just staring into his eyes and was lost in them. 

  "Rogue!" The Red wolf roared and I snapped out of the trance. He radiated a very powerful Aura and my wolf struggled not to bow low before him. He towered above me like he wanted to intimidate me, then his eyes softened a little bit, he looked closer and growled lowly.

    It was already late before I noticed we had company, another wolf was right behind me and as I turned to look, I felt a sharp pain in my head as I fell to the ground. Then I saw a guy with a gun in his hand and he obviously hit me with it.

    "Mate!" I heard the Red wolf say before I slumped and went unconscious.
