I offered to drive Victoria, but Damien said it would be more convenient for him to pick her up, so he did that instead. Right at this moment, Mariana was soundly dozing off on my chest. I was embracing her waist while at the same time I was gently massaging the area where she had cut herself. My temper has been flaring up up until this point, and I don't want him to observe how I become enraged. I could still remember the time when I asked her if she could still see me as a monster, and Mariana answered in the affirmative. I could still remember that moment.

They were all aware of the ways in which I could become irate, but I'm making an effort not to display that anger in front of her as much as I can.
