The Fight For Ciara's Heart

"Hold on a second! 

I hope It's not what I am thinking that's running through your mind right now?" She freaked out. 

"I don't know what you think I'm thinking. But whatever it is, who knows? It might be a beautiful thing. Don't you think so?" Derek winked at Ciara and winked seductively. 

"Then you must be the biggest dreamer on earth. I don't see that happening. Just so you know, your dad and my Dad had arranged for your Brother, Dexter and I to be married," Like a rocket, Ciara launched the shocking news straight into Derek's heart.

"What the heck?" Derek exclaimed in shock and pulled over Immediately. 

"What are you doing? 

Why did you have to pull over like that? Were you trying to get us killed?"

"Have you agreed to get married to my brother?" Asked, Derek as he breathed heavily. He was lucky enough not to suffer a cardiac arrest. The news caught him aware. 

"Does it matter? 

I haven't arrived at my destination yet. Unless you want me to come down and start searching for a cab," Ciara protested. 

"Of course, I am taking you to your destination. I just need you to answer my question. Are you getting married to Dexter?" Derek demanded. 

Ciara allowed herself to stay calm. The sudden interest of Derek in her affairs was starting to buzz her. She doesn't want to believe that Derek is falling for her already after their third meeting. 

"I am not getting married to Dexter. At least, not yet. I don't have feelings for him. Are you happy now?" She finally answered, hence satisfying Derek's curiosity. 

"That sounds quite promising," Derek held his chest in relief.

"Neither do I have feelings for you, should you start harboring some negative thoughts in your head." Ciara dropped another cracker to shatter his heart completely. He went from being hopeful to hopeful.

"Can you please proceed with the ride now? I have wasted too much time," she pleaded.

"Sure! I will do just that," Derek humbly agreed. He never saw that comeback coming. 

 The disclosure from Ciara sealed Derek's lips and made him perplexed. He was quite aware of how Desperate and Cunning Dexter was when it came to the affairs of women. No one dares to compete with him In that aspect. 

Seeing Dexter already interested in the lady he's got eyes on worried Derek to the point where he could barely concentrate on driving anymore. He wished there was a way he could convince Ciara not to accept the marriage proposal. 

To worsen it all and compound Derek's woes, Ciara clarified that she wasn't interested in him should he attempt to ask her out. That's the most heartbroken part of their conversation. 

"We are now. 

I will be fine here. 

Thank you for the ride," Ciara said as they arrived at the address that Walters described for her. 

"Please, whatever you do, don't get married to Dexter. You will be making the biggest mistake of your life if you do that," Derek advised Ciara for the last time. He spoke to her as though she were his daughter. 

Ciara took a pause. 

The attitude from Derek was becoming suspicious of her. "Why are you concerned about this proposal? You've been hell-bent on this issue as though your life depends on it," 

"Nevermind! 

Forget we ever had this discussion," Derek changed his mind. He concentrated on his steering wheel while he waited for Ciara to step outside. 

"Are you being serious right now, Derek? You are not going to say a word to me?" She kept talking without getting feedback. 

"Once again, thanks for the ride. It was quite helpful," She appreciated Derek, and stepped outside the car. 

Until Derek left, Ciara kept staring. She couldn't help but process what just happened. A while ago, Derek acted like he wanted Ciara for himself alone and the next minute, he acted like she didn't even matter to him. That was the part that shocked her the most. 

"Damn! The Cooper family is crazy. They all gotta visit the rehab and have their heads examined," Ciara hissed. She took out her phone and called Walters to announce her presence. 

"Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Why am I just getting to find out about it now?" Derek's soliloquies as he drove to the hospital where George was admitted. 

"I need to speak to my Father immediately. I need him to look me in the eyes and admit that Ciara was telling the truth," Derek continued to rant. He refused to call his Father over the phone and discuss the issue because he figured that his Father was going to deny it with ease. However, a physical conversation may prove otherwise. 

It didn't take too long for Derek to arrive at the hospital due to his speed. Before he met Ciara, he was heading to somewhere critical. But after hearing about the marriage proposal, he had no choice but to address the issue. It has become his top priority. 

"Please where's the Doctor? I need to know if my Father has been discharged already," Derek asked Nurse Olivia at the reception. She stood alongside another nurse. 

"Sorry, who are you?'

Nurse Olivia asked after scrutinizing Derek's body as though she were oozing. 

It didn't take too long for Derek to notice the awkward glance. He just decided not to talk about it. 

"I am Derek, his son. 

I believe that he was admitted to this hospital, wasn't he?"

"Of course, you are right," She nodded in the affirmative. 

"But I am not sure about your claim. The only son Mr. George Cooper has is Dexter, and he is currently in detention," Olivia spilled. 

" I am his second son, for crying out loud. I want to see him," Derek yelled at Olivia. 

He paused for a second to ask. "Sorry, I yelled at you. Did you just see Dexter has been arrested? What was his offense?" He got really upset that he missed out on the part where Olivia said Derek got arrested.
