MasukPOV: Roxana
I was more than surprised when the maids came to my room to dress me up, saying that the Alpha has an announcement to make.
After the dressing up, the guards escorted me to the royal hall.
I thought I was just a mistress and it will continue that way till maybe after I give the Alpha a heir. But I was wrong, because the Alpha is about to make me his Luna.
And honestly, I don't know the reason why but I like it. And also, being a Luna means I have more authority than the Alpha’s two wives. So yesterday wasn't bad Afterall, I am not just a tool for the heir.
The morning sun blindingly filled the grand courtyard as hundreds of wolves stood in perfect, silent rows.
I stood on the elevated royal platform, my breath catching in my throat as Magnus stepped up beside me.
He wore his formal black alpha armor, looking every bit the brutal ruler the pack feared.
Magnus raised his hand, signaling the royal guards to step forward with the ancient silver crown. Victoria stood in the front row below us, her face twisted into a mask of pure rage, while Jaxon gripped Seraphine’s hand so tightly her knuckles were white.
Magnus took the heavy crown and placed it firmly onto my head, his touch firm and public.
"Behold your supreme Luna!" Magnus’s deep voice boomed across the territory, sending a vibration straight through the stone beneath my feet.
The wolves in the courtyard immediately dropped to one knee, a sea of bodies bowing down to me. I was officially crowned. Like I am the pack's official Luna. From the discarded Omega to The Pack’s Luna, the Wife not a mistress to the Alpha and soon to be mother of his Heir.
But the triumph somehow lasted less than a second, because someone decided to ruin it.
An old woman with long, matted gray hair and a black cloth tied over her eyes stepped onto the platform. It was Morana, the pack Seer, and her presence instantly chilled the warm morning air. She stopped right in front of me, her head tilting as if she could see right through my soul.
"The heavens demand a true bloodline to secure the throne from ruin," Morana proclaimed, her raspy voice carrying clearly over the silent crowd. "The spirits have set the clock, Luna Roxana. If you do not conceive a male heir within three months, you are a curse to this pack, and your head will be taken at the execution block."
My heart stopped completely, the heavy silver crown suddenly feeling like a crushing weight on my skull.
My entire plan to slowly seduce Magnus and make him fall in love with me shattered into a million bloody pieces, although I don't think I still need his love for protection, but just to be on the safer side.
And right now, I don't have time for romance; I had exactly ninety days to live.
As soon as the assembly was dismissed, panic took over my body, forcing me to slip away from the royal guards.
I ran toward the dense woods bordering the pack lands, my lungs burning as I hurried to find my secret childhood friend, Hestia. She was a rogue witch living in hiding, and she was my only hope for a fertility remedy to force a pregnancy.
I pushed through the thick brambles, heading toward her hidden cabin, but the sudden sound of growling and shouting made me freeze behind a large oak tree. Peering around the trunk, my blood ran cold as I saw four royal guards in silver armor. They were brutally dragging a bruised and bleeding Hestia across the dirt.
Witches were strictly forbidden on pack territory, a crime that carried an immediate sentence of public burning or hanging.
Hestia’s clothes were torn, her hands bound in heavy iron chains that suppressed her magic as the guards threw her to the ground. I gasped, covering my mouth to keep from screaming out loud.
Before I could move, one of the guards kicked Hestia in the ribs, forcing her to look up toward the treeline. Her eyes scanned the shadows and they somehow locked directly onto me, hiding behind the oak tree.
Normally she wasn't supposed to see me, but she's a witch, so she saw me. And I somehow expected her to as for help, but instead, her expression twisted into a mask of pure, burning hatred.
"You betrayed me!" Hestia screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice dripping with venom as she glared at me, so I quickly hid myself well.
Wait a minute. She thought I had traded her location to Magnus to secure my own safety as the new Luna?
"I curse you!! I hope the executioner's blade cuts deep!" I heard her scream towards my direction.
"Silence the witch!" the lead guard shouted, slamming the butt of his spear into the back of her head until she went limp.
I stumbled backward into the bushes, my chest heaving as the guards began dragging her unconscious body back toward the pack mansion.
My only ally now hated me, and my clock was ticking down. Worst of all, she might be thinking I betrayed her.
POV: RoxanaI barely slept before the sun rose, my mind replaying every moment of the night over and over, searching for any crack in my story Magnus might have noticed. When the maids came to dress me, their hands trembled slightly, the entire household clearly still shaken from the chaos of the missing witch.By the time I reached the dining hall, the tension in the room was thick enough to choke on. Victoria and Celeste sat stiffly at the table, Jaxon lounged with a smug expression that made my skin crawl, and Magnus stood near the window, his back to the room, radiating quiet fury."The prisoner escaped under everyone's nose," Victoria said the moment I sat down, her voice dripping with false concern. "How strange, that it happens so soon after our new Luna developed such a deep interest in fertility herbs.""Careful, Victoria," I said, keeping my voice steady despite the exhaustion pulling at my bones. "Unless you are suggesting I somehow slipped past six armed guards myself, I w
POV: RoxanaI pressed myself deeper into the shadows as boots pounded past on the other side of the stone wall, my breath held so tightly my chest ached. Magnus's voice carried through the corridor again, sharp and furious, ordering guards to check every cell, every corner, every shadow.I could not stay here. If they searched carefully enough, they would find the loose stone, and then there would be no explanation clever enough to save me.I crept back along the narrow passage toward the gap Celeste had led me through, my fingers scraping against damp stone as I moved as quietly as my shaking legs would allow. When I reached the opening, my stomach dropped. Celeste was gone.I squeezed through the gap anyway, praying the guards near the main corridor were still distracted by the chaos of the missing prisoner. The side passage behind the kitchens was empty, silent except for the distant echo of shouting from the dungeon below.I hurried through the dark servants' stairwell, my mind ra
POV: RoxanaI waited in my room until the moon climbed high enough to spill silver light across my floor, my hands clenched tight around the stolen key the entire time. Every creak of the mansion settling made my heart lurch, certain it was Magnus returning early, certain it was Victoria finally deciding to search my room herself.A soft knock finally came, three quiet taps against my door. I opened it to find Celeste standing there, dressed in a plain dark cloak instead of her usual silks."Come," she said simply, already turning down the hallway. "We do not have long before the distraction wears off.""What distraction?" I asked, hurrying to keep pace with her quick, silent steps."Iris and Lyra are currently arguing loudly in the east wing over a stolen necklace that never actually existed," Celeste said, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "I may have planted the idea in both their heads earlier tonight. Sisters fight loudest when they believe they have been wronged.""You used you
POV: Roxana"Magnus," I said again, my heart hammering so hard I was certain he could hear it. "What were you doing down there?"He studied my face for a long moment before answering, his expression giving away nothing. "I went to speak with the witch," he said simply. "Alone. Without you standing between us this time."The floor seemed to tilt slightly beneath my feet. "You went to see her without telling me?" I asked, forcing my voice to stay steady even as panic clawed up my throat. "Why would you do that?""Because I wanted the truth," Magnus said, stepping closer. "And I did not think I would get it from you.""What did she tell you?" I asked, hating how quickly the question left my mouth, how desperate it sounded even to my own ears."Nothing," Magnus said, watching my reaction closely. "She refused to give me a single real answer. But her silence told me more than words would have, Roxana. She is protecting you. A woman who believes she was betrayed does not protect her betraye
POV: MagnusI left Roxana sleeping and made my way down to the dungeon before the sun had fully risen. I did not tell her where I was going. If she knew, she would find some new way to distract me, and I had already given her one night she did not deserve. The four guards at the door straightened the moment they saw me. "Alpha," the tallest one said, bowing quickly. "Is there a problem?""Open the cell," I said. "I want to speak to the witch alone."The guard hesitated for half a second before nodding and unlocking the heavy chains. I stepped into the dungeon corridor, the cold air biting through my shirt as I walked toward the last cell.Hestia sat against the far wall, her chains rattling as she lifted her head. Her eyes narrowed the moment she saw it was me and not Roxana standing at the bars."The Alpha himself," she said, her voice dry and mocking. "I am honored. Did your little Luna send you to do her dirty work?""Roxana does not know I am here," I said, crossing my arms as I s
POV: Magnus"You have been down there again," I said, studying her face closely in the dim hallway light. "Tell me the truth, Roxana. What exactly is happening between you and that witch?"She did not answer right away. Her eyes flickered, just for a second, the way a wolf's do when it is deciding whether to run or fight. "I told you already, Alpha," she said. "I am trying to break her silence. It takes time.""I gave you an order," I said, stepping closer. "I told you not to go down there without me. You went anyway. Explain that to me first, before you talk about silence and time.""You were busy with the guards," she said. "I did not want to waste the hours we have left waiting for you to be free.""That is not an answer," I said. "That is an excuse dressed up to sound like devotion." I watched her jaw tighten at that, a flicker of real frustration breaking through her calm. Good. I wanted to see something real, for once."What do you want me to say, Magnus?" she snapped, using my
