LOGINPOV: Roxana
The master bedroom was dark, lit only by the flickering light of a dying fireplace. I stood near the edge of the massive canopy bed, my skin shivering beneath the thin silk nightgown I had been given.
The door opened with a heavy thud, and Magnus walked inside, shutting the world out behind him.
He didn't look at me with passion or desire; his eyes were completely cold as he undo his black royal wear. He tossed it onto a chair, revealing his broad, heavily scarred chest and the intimidating frame of a seasoned warrior.
The sheer weight of his dominant Alpha aura immediately flooded the room, making it hard to take a full breath.
"Sit," Magnus commanded, his deep voice echoing through the silence in the room. He didn't move toward me; he simply went and stood by the desk, pouring two glasses of amber liquid. I swallowed hard and sat on the edge of the mattress, my fingers gripping the silk fabric tightly.
He walked over and handed me a glass, his large fingers brushing against mine for a brief, electric second.
I took a sip, the burning liquid doing nothing to calm the frantic racing of my heart. Magnus stood over me, looking down like a judge inspecting a piece of property he had just purchased.
"Let us be entirely clear about tonight, Roxana," Magnus stated coldly, his voice devoid of any warmth or tenderness. "This is a transaction to secure my throne against my brother's son ambitious bloodline, nothing more." He was laying down the terms plainly, treating the act like a battlefield strategy.
"I understand my duty, Alpha Magnus," I replied, forcing my voice to remain steady as I looked up into his dark eyes. "I am here to fulfill my end of the contract, just as you fulfilled yours this afternoon." I refused to let him see me tremble under his heavy gaze.
Magnus leaned down, placing his hands on either side of my thighs, trapping me completely against the mattress. His massive body blocked out the light from the fireplace, casting a long, terrifying shadow over me.
"Then prove it," he whispered darkly, his hot breath brushing against my lips.
He didn't kiss me; he simply waited, using his crushing dominant presence to completely break down my defenses.
My inner wolf whined, completely overwhelmed by his sheer power, but my human mind fought to keep control. The physical tension in the space between us grew so thick it felt suffocating.
"You wanted the crown, so show me your resolve," Magnus murmured, his eyes locking onto my parted lips. He remained completely still, deliberately withholding his touch, torturing me with the heavy silence until my body began to ache for any contact.
"Please," I gasped out, the word escaping my throat before I could stop it, completely undone by the agonizing friction of his proximity. I reached up, my hands trembling as I gripped his broad shoulders.
"Please, Magnus... touch me." I had to beg for the very thing I feared.
A dark, possessive glint flared in his eyes as he heard my submission, and his grip tightened around my waist like iron bands.
He pulled me against his solid chest, his touch were rough and completely demanding as he claimed my lips in a brutal, consuming kiss. There was no sweetness, only absolute dominance.
He took his time breaking my pride, ensuring I understood exactly who held all the power in this bed and this pack.
Every movement was a reminder of the contract, a raw and intense physical binding that left me completely breathless and marked by his possession. He was a tyrant, even in the dark.
Hours later, the room was silent again as Magnus stood up from the bed, completely calm as he pulled on his clothes. He didn't offer a gentle touch or a comforting word; he simply buckled his wears and walked toward the door without looking back. The lock clicked shut, leaving me entirely alone.
I lay in the cold sheets, my body aching and my skin still tingling from the overwhelming force of his touch. A strange, terrifying realization washed over me as I stared at the ceiling—the bond I felt with him was far deeper than anything I had ever felt with Jaxon. It was dangerously intoxicating.
"I cannot just be a tool for him," I whispered into the dark room, gripping the blanket to my chest. If I remained just an incubator, he would discard me the moment the child was born. I needed a better shield than a paper contract.
I sat up, wiping a stray tear from my cheek as a new, desperate plan formed in my mind. I had to change the rules of his game before it was too late.
*I will make this ruthless tyrant fall hopelessly in love with me,* I vowed to myself, *before I allow myself to conceive his heir.*
POV: VictoriaJaxon's questions lingered long after he left my sitting room, old guilt stirring awake beneath twenty years of carefully constructed denial. I had convinced myself, over the decades, that the memory of that morning had faded into something distant enough to no longer feel entirely real, a nightmare half-remembered rather than a truth I had lived through and caused.I rose from my chair, pacing the length of the room as memories I had spent so long suppressing rose unbidden to the surface. My husband's face, twisted with the same dismissiveness he had always shown me, even in our final conversation. His voice, careless and cruel, explaining once more why I would never truly matter within this family, why Magnus's approval meant more to him than whatever partnership we had built together as husband and wife.I had not planned it, not truly. The push had come from somewhere deeper than calculation, somewhere born of twenty years of accumulated resentment finally boiling ov
POV: JaxonI found my mother in her private sitting room, staring out toward the eastern gardens with an unusual stillness that immediately caught my attention. She startled slightly when I entered, quickly composing her expression into its familiar, guarded pleasantness."Jaxon," she said. "I did not hear you approach.""You seem troubled, Mother," I said, settling into the chair across from hers. "More than usual, even given everything currently surrounding this household.""It is nothing," she said, though the tightness around her eyes suggested otherwise. "Simply the strain of Corwin's continued presence, wearing on all of us equally."I studied her carefully, the question I had been turning over since our conversation in the stables finally demanding voice. "Corwin questioned the kitchen staff about you yesterday," I said. "About your behavior, around the time you first married Father."Victoria's composure flickered, just slightly, though she recovered quickly. "Servants gossip
POV: RoxanaMagnus's absence stretched longer than either of us had anticipated, each passing day adding fresh strain to a household already stretched thin by suspicion and secrets. I told the staff he traveled on urgent pack business, a vague enough explanation that satisfied most, though Corwin's pointed questions during breakfast suggested he found the timing considerably more curious than convenient."The Alpha departed rather suddenly," Corwin observed one morning, his pale eyes studying me carefully across the dining table. "I do not recall him mentioning such travel during our previous conversations.""Pack matters do not always allow for advance notice," I said, keeping my voice light despite the tension coiling beneath my composure. "I am certain he will explain further upon his return.""Of course," Corwin said, though his tone carried the same careful skepticism he applied to everything within these walls. "I only mention it because my own investigation grows considerably m
POV: MagnusThe message from Tormund reached me eight days after his arrival at Hollow Creek, carried by a fast rider whose exhausted horse nearly collapsed at my gates. I read the account twice, my chest tightening with a complicated mixture of hope and dread at Marta's condition. She would speak, but only to me directly.I found Roxana in the garden, her expression shifting to concern the moment she registered the letter clutched in my hand. "What does it say?" she asked."Marta has been found," I said. "She has agreed to share what she witnessed, but only if I travel to hear it myself."Roxana's eyes widened. "You intend to go?""I do not see another option," I said. "If she has carried this truth silently for twenty years, I will not risk losing it now over a demand I am unwilling to honor.""The journey is dangerous," Roxana said, worry sharpening her voice. "And you cannot simply abandon this household, not with Corwin's investigation still unresolved, not with Victoria growing
POV: TormundThe village of Hollow Creek sat nestled between two steep ridges, a scattering of modest wooden homes surrounded by thick pine forest that muffled every sound beyond the occasional bark of a dog or the distant ring of an axe against timber. Renn and I approached slowly, our travel-worn cloaks marking us clearly as outsiders long before we reached the first cluster of buildings."Discretion," I reminded Renn quietly, though the younger tracker hardly needed the warning. "The Alpha was clear. We approach carefully, or risk losing her entirely."We found a small trading post near the village center, its keeper a weathered man who eyed our unfamiliar faces with the wary curiosity of someone accustomed to strangers rarely passing through such isolated terrain. "Looking for supplies?" he asked, though his tone suggested he already suspected otherwise."Looking for a healer," I said. "We heard word of a woman known locally as Old Mara. A relative of ours, we believe, lost to us
POV: MagnusNine days after Roxana's letter departed north, the same weathered trader returned to my gates, requesting audience with the Luna once more. I met him alongside her this time, unwilling to leave any correspondence involving Hestia entirely outside my own oversight, regardless of how much I trusted Roxana's judgment in the matter."She responded quickly," the trader said, producing a small, carefully sealed letter from within his cloak. "Though she seemed considerably more cautious this time, asking me twice whether I had been followed before agreeing to carry her reply."We thanked him, ensuring his payment and lodging were handled generously before retreating to the privacy of my study to read whatever Hestia had written. Roxana's hands trembled slightly as she broke the seal, her eyes scanning the contents before reading aloud for my benefit.*Roxana. Your request reached me, and I confess some surprise at how quickly you turned my warning into an opportunity. Very well.
