Chapter 4

Sophie Pov

“Papa, Pat?” I said, confused. What is he doing here? The art store was where I met papa Pat. I had mistakenly run into him without knowing. I kept on apologising and he was just laughing. We both sat down and talk. He is a lively man. We talked about our families. I told him everything there was to know about me, and he did the same. He also told me he was looking for a wife for his grandson. He said his grandson is 30 years old and refused to get married. I wished him good luck with his search and we part ways. I haven’t seen him since then. Don’t tell me he is the old grandfather that want to take a wife for his grandson! Oh my God, no!

“Sophie!, my dear, how are you?” Papa Pat said, smiling at me widely. I looked at mom and Anna and they were shooting daggers at me. If only looks could kill, I’d be 6 feet down. I nervously laugh, moving closer to him. I might be in big trouble after this. No wonder he knows that the Lee’s has another daughter because I told him my name is Sophie Lee. I thought he was just an ordinary man.

“Good Afternoon sir,” I greeted him, bowing a little.

“Oh come on Sophie, what happened to Papa Pat?” He said, looking at me amused. I looked at the wall like in the movies and had a flashback.

Weeks Ago

“What is your name?” the old man asked.

“My name is Sophie Lee. What is yours?” I asked, happy I was making a friend. I didn’t notice his expression.

“Call me Patrick,” he said, smiling at me. I frown. I can’t call him just Patrick.

“I can’t just call you by your name, I think I will call you….” I said, trailing off. Then I heard an idea.

“I got it!, I will call you Papa Pat!”

End Of Flashback

“Sophie!” I heard Anna’s voice. Bringing me out of my flashback. “Huh” I said. Papa Pat laughed while mom and Anna scorn at me. Dad seems to be in a good mood.

“Well, let me show you to the dinning,” dad said, standing up from his seat.

“Okay” papa Pat said, standing up from his seat. Papa, Pat is a 70 years old man, and he looks 50, he is very strong. If not because of his white beards and hair, you won’t even know he is up to 70. We all went to the dining room, but a hand grabbed me back harshly.

“Sophie, you better stop all the lovey dovey you are doing. Everett is mine so back off!” Sophie whispered yelled, glaring at me with hate in her eyes. An awful, powerful smell of cologne surrounded my nose. She smells awful. She used too much perfume and oh my God, I am just noticing her dress. She is wearing a black gown that is extremely short and has a deep v neck. All her boobs are outside and the dress has cuts in the waist area. Looking at her dress, a blind man will know she is not wearing any undies. She is basically naked, and she wore this to impress Papa Pat? why will he want her as his grandson's wife? She left little to the imagination.

“I am not trying to act lovey dovey with him. I know him before. Now leave my arm,” I said, pulling my arm away from her. I turned to walk to the dinning, but she pushed me and walked past me. I groaned as my butt hit the floor. That stupid bitch! I stood up, dusting my dress. I went to the dinning, and I saw Anna sitting beside Papa Pat acting all lovely. I roll my eyes. I took my seat. Dad was sitting at the head table with mom on his left and Papa Pat on his right. Anna was sitting beside him, so I’m sitting beside mom. The chefs came and started serving the foods. After serving they left.

“So how do you know Sir Patrick?” dad asked.

“We met at an art store,” I said. Mom looked at me.

“Thought we buried that topic about you being a designer?” Mom said.

“Oh we didn’t bury it Mom, you guys did, but I didn’t,” I said, cutting through my steak. Papa Pat laughed.

“Why will you bury her dreams, Jessica?” He asked.

“Oh I don’t just see the point of it. Her designs are not that good,’’ she said, shrugging her shoulders. I looked at mom hurt. She will never support anything I do. I bet if Anna said she wanted to be a porn star, she would agree. Papa Pat laughed. There was something about that laugh. It had no humor. And he suddenly stopped laughing and continued with his food. Dad looked at mom as if to say not now. She rolls her eyes and continues eating her food.

“Papa Pat, try this, it is very nice,” Anna said, giving him a sauce to dip his steak into. Now she is calling him Papa pat? wow.

“Ohh thank you, my dear,” he said, smiling at Anna. Anna smiled happily. I dip my steak into the sauce and eat it. The sauce is nice but I could taste a faint taste of garlic. Papa, Pat is allergic to garlic.

“Papa Pat, don’t eat that,” I said. Everyone looked at me and Anna glared at me hatefully.

“Why can’t he eat it?” She asked, still glaring at me.

“He can’t because it has garlic inside and he is very allergic to garlic,” I said.

“But there is no garlic inside,” she said. I tasted it again. I am tasting garlic, but it is faint.

“There is” I said.

“Sophie, stop saying nonsense. I ate this food, and I did not taste any garlic, dad are you tasting garlic?” She asked dad.

“No I’m not,” he said, shaking his head.

“You see Sophie, stop trying to bring up narratives. There is no garlic,” she said, glaring at me murderously. I could also feel my mother‘s hard stare. I kept quiet, knowing there is nothing I can do.

“Why don’t you call your cooks?” Papa Pat asked. They all nod agreeing with him.

“Yes, that will be better. Now you will see that you were wrong Sophie,” Anna said, standing up to call the chefs. I sat on my seat with a pair of eyes glaring at me and two just looking at me. I will be in soup if I am wrong, lord help your daughter.
