Mona fought for a moment, but when she saw she couldn't get away, she gave up.
"So this is where you stop, Mr. Cox? Your limit must be quite low.”
Leo pulled her hard and brought her right into his arms. Then he started walking toward the garage.
"Leo Cox! What are you up to?” Conan was angry and yelled at Leo, who he didn't anticipate to do something like this. Then he started to chase them. But it looked like Leo’s bodyguards came out of nowhere and blocked his way. "Stop it!"
Mona was startled by how quickly things changed. She hit Leo with her fists and feet and yelled at him to let her go. But no matter how much she yelled, Leo’s expression stayed calm as he led her to his car and pushed her inside.
Mona couldn't get out since the door locked behind her. She glanced at him with cold, mocking eyes and said, "It's been a few years, and I never thought I'd see Mr. Cox turn into a robber."
Leo didn't pay attention to her. He just got in the car and drove away from there. Mona, upset that he didn't care what she said, turned to stare out the window so she wouldn't have to talk to him anymore.
Leo looked across at Mona at that point. Maybe he had been too hard with her; her outfit was a touch messy, showing off her smooth, sensitive flesh. He couldn't help but compare the Mona of today to the Mona of five years ago, always with a trace of concern and sadness. She was now as vivid as a rose, and her features were even more refined.
He didn't want to say it, but he had to: Mona had done quite well since they broke up. He put his lips together and looked back at the road. When they got to the second villa of Leo’s, he opened the car door and reached out to help Mona.
She slapped his hand away without thinking, "Mr. Cox, stop pretending. I wouldn't dare hold the hand of a kidnapper.”
Mona might not have even realized it, but she usually seemed a little sharper than usual when she was around Leo. She got out of the car and gazed at the villa she hardly come, but her eyes were blank. She had to acknowledge that even though she often come here for in the past, it had never brought her any joy, only misery.
"Go ahead." Leo stated in a low voice.
Mona looked back at the car parked behind her and thought about snatching the keys from Leo and running away. Finally, she gave up.
The villa's decor hadn't changed much in five years, as if time had never passed there. A trace of cynicism flashed in her eyes. "Mr. Cox, did you ruin your reputation just to bring me here to see the villa?"
Leo’s face got colder as he saw how stubborn she was. "Where have you been for the last five years?"
Mona had disappeared without a trace back then, and no one knew why.
"Mr. Cox, you didn't find out?“ Mona sat on the couch and spoke in a calm voice.
She had planned to go back to the Hunt villa after divorcing Leo, but on her way home, she met a Benita Shaw, who was wounded and she was being chased by people— who wanted her dead. Blood was all over Benita’s body, and she was at the point of death.
But Mona saved Benita and hid her from the people who wanted to kill her. As Mona was sure the people had left, she took Benita to the hospital and spend the day at the hospital not going back home.
When Benita recovered, she told Mona why she was being chased. It happened that Benita was a wealthy woman, and the people who wanted to kill her were her enemies who were after her properties.
When Benita asked Mona where she was going with her clothes, that was when Mona opened up to Benita about her divorce to Leo and how she was going back home before they met and how she was already pregnant for Leo.
As a way to appreciate her for saving her life, Benita decided to help Mona out. Benita helps Mona travel to France, took care of her and her twins after she gave birth, and exposed the people who wanted to kill her.
Zenith group in Sky city belongs to Benita and the workers in the group were deceitful, stealing the companies money.
When Benita discovered this, she sacked them and begged Mona to go back to Sky city and manage the company for her, since Mona studied business
administration at the university and used to work as a personal assistant to a CEO at an office before her marriage to Leo. And also because Mona was the only person she trusted now.
Mona agreed even though she knew Sky city holds painful memories, and with her twins still in France, she went back to Sky city leaving the kids in France in Benita's care, cause she was afraid that once Leo know of their existence, he might tried to take them away from her.
Mona couldn't say anything. She had always knew her kids were smart, but she didn't think they would come up with a plan like this. She paused for a bit before calling Fred on video. After searching all day for the missing kids, he finally felt better when he saw their naughty faces. Benita wasn’t around, if not the kids wouldn’t have escaped easily.Luke and Rue felt bad when they saw their butler’s tired, worn-out countenance. Mona said in a serious voice, "Mr. Jenner and the workers at the villa have been looking for you all day because you snuck out. They have only just now been able to relax.”The kids looked down. “You may tell Mr. Jenner, and apologize to him,” Mona’s voice got more and more serious as she said, "Don't sneak back without saying anything and making everyone worry about you." Luke and Rue’s round eyes filled with tears, and they said sorry to Mr. Jenner in childlike voices. Mr. Jenner quickly calmed the kids down and then hung up. Conan rushed to calm the
Mona’s hands shook as she switched to a new phone and called Fred right away. "What do you mean by that? Luke and Rue are gone? Didn't you keep an eye on them all the time? How can they be gone? What do you mean by "missing"?” She asked Fred a lot of questions all at once, and he didn't know where to start. All he could do was groan. He could see that Miss Hunt was worried about the two kids, and now that they were gone, how could she not break down?Fred, who felt helpless, told the police what had happened to the kids. That day, they were due to attend piano lessons, but Rue suddenly announced she didn't feel well before the class started. The nanny quickly called the family doctor, but when she got back, the kids were gone. They had turned the whole mansion upside down, but they couldn't find any signs of them. The villa's staff members' names had been checked several times, and the villa's security had been raised to the maximum level. Nobody could get in without being seen. She
Sydney’s face went pale, and she rushed forward. "I..."She felt uneasy as Leo’s eyes seemed to see through everything. She avoided them and stammered for a long time. "The day she came back, and your eyes were always on her. I was confused and just..."Leo looked at the mark on Sydney’s arm and didn't say anything for a long time. Then he said, "This is the last time." Sydney quickly nodded, and her eyes blinked. Some things she didn't have to deal with; other people could do them for her. Leo called Nate and told him to take down the post about her that was trending today. "Are you just getting rid of the trending news?" Sydney was worried, "People are calling me a homewrecker online, and a lot of clients are demanding money from me choosing another actress instead,” Sydney said, "Do you want our unborn child to be called illegitimate?" When she saw that Leo still didn't say anything, but he looked at her earnestly. Sydney bit her lip hard since she knew there was no wa
Mona knew something was wrong right away when she went outdoors that night. People around her seemed to be pointing at her without her knowing, but once she looked their direction, they would move away and act like nothing had happened. She was ready to go to the store when Conan called and told her to stop. "Don't go out; someone has put your address online! Stay home; I'm on my way to grab you right now!” Conan’s voice was full of urgency, which made it evident that the issue was serious. Mona also seemed sad. It would be difficult for anyone on the internet to find her address in such a short amount of time, unless someone leaked it on purpose. It wasn't hard to figure out who it might be. She didn't want to fight fate, so she turned around and headed back. But then two men who looked sketchy stopped her. Their eyes moved over her body without shame. "You're the mistress, right? You do appear interesting.” "How about having some fun with us?" One of them made a lewd face. M
Mona’s heart almost broke when her tiny baby girl gazed at her, and she murmured softly, "One more month at most, then I'll come to see you, okay?" Rue’s eyes showed a tinge of disappointment, yet she still agreed like a child. Luke, who had been seated next to Rue, eventually spoke up after his sister and mother were done chatting. He said in a bossy voice, "Are you in trouble over there? Do you need me to step in and help?”Mona laughed, but she knew her young boy well enough to say, "Don't worry, I can handle the problems here. Okay, if something really hard comes up, I'll ask for your help.”Luke hummed in agreement. He was already a five-year-old little man who wanted to take care of his mother and sister. Mona didn't want to finish the video connection after having a nice discussion with her two kids. As soon as she hung up, Williams called and said, "Miss Hunt, Mr. Cox is out of the country on business. Harmony Pierce, the Cox Group's deputy general manager, will take over
Leo gazed at her for a second, then added, "The Gray family is not right for you. Get away from Conan Gray.”Leo pulled out his checkbook and started writing as he spoke? "How much money do you need? I'll give it to you.”He didn't think she could really care about Conan. For him, it was all about the money. Mona instantly laughed when she heard what Leo said. "Do you have twenty billion dollars?" Leo stopped writing and looked at her with a frown. Mona knew what he meant without saying anything: don't be ungrateful. She would have been worried about his look if it had been in the past, but now she wasn't. "Five years, and you haven't gotten any better, Mr. Cox. What more can you do besides tossing money around?” She stood up and hissed. The two faced each other across the coffee table in the peaceful villa, and for a minute, the mood grew strained. Leo glanced at Mona, who was pointing swords at him, and he felt a peculiar emotion rising in his heart, as if this version of her w
