Chapter 05

(Rylee's POV)

"Alpha. You're here," Mr. Nathan appeared tense as there was no one in the hallway before. The staff all feared Mr. Nathan, so none of them came to rescue me from Mr. Nathan's torture. He had been asking me out on a date for two years and to become his side chick. How shameless of him?

Alpha Malakai strode up to meet me. He wore a brown shirt and black slacks and black shoes. His arms looked so well-built, and part of his shirt button at the top was opened, revealing his well-toned chest.

"Alpha, good morning. I wasn't expecting to see you," Mr. Nathan said, trying to pretend like he was disciplining me as he appeared so tense. He moved away from me as Alpha Malakai came to meet me sitting on the tiled floor.

Alpha Malakai crouched in front of me and reached out his right hand to touch my face. My eyes widened in shock, including most of the staff that arrived at this floor for their work.

"Are you alright?" Alpha Malakai asked me, and I looked at his deep blue eyes in shock.

'How can Alpha Malakai squat in front of a lowly Omega like me?' I pondered.

"Yeah. I am fine, Alpha. I am alright," I spluttered as I wasn't expecting to see him.

Alpha Malakai offered me his right hand and helped me stand up on my feet. I was intoxicated by his rich cedarwood scent. However, I collided with his firm chest; his masculine scent of cedarwood filled me up again as his warm hands enveloped my waist in a gentle hug, and I recalled I perceived this scent last night.

'Was the man Alpha Malakai? No way.' I quickly moved away from him to create a distance between us.

"Thank you, Alpha… I have to go now," I said and stepped back to pick up my polythene bag of clothes from the ground.

The elevator door unlocked, and Elizabeth arrived at the same time as Nash.

"Oh my goodness! Rylee! Thank goddess that you are alright! I was calling you, and yet no response!" Elizabeth exclaimed as she rushed up to wrap me in a hug.

Alpha Malakai stood aside looking at us, and the staff and cleaners greeted him when they noticed his presence. "Good morning, Alpha."

Nash also came out of the elevator and greeted his uncle, "Uncle, good morning."

Alpha Malakai looked at Nash and nodded. He didn't utter a word, and he left us and entered the elevator.

"Are you alright, Rylee? What was my uncle doing here?" Nash asked, walking past the crowd of hoteliers who were stunned by the scene they had just witnessed.

Some of them muttered, "How can Alpha Malakai care for a lowly Omega like her?"

Some of my female colleagues glared at me, as they desired to be Alpha Malakai's woman. Well, little did they know that I had no idea what had happened.

"We are not done yet, Rylee. You know what to do if you need the CCTV footage to know the man you hooked up with," Mr. Nathan dusted his red shirt as he smirked and walked away. However, Beta Fabian came out of the elevator and ordered, "Nathan! You are summoned to Alpha Malakai's office."

Beta Fabian wore a black shirt and trousers with perfectly polished black shoes. He looked at my face with his intense yellow eyes as I met his gaze on me. But he quickly went back into the elevator as Mr. Nathan tensed up and walked up to meet him.

"What did I do wrongly, Beta?" Mr. Nathan asked as he approached Beta Fabian, before they went into the elevator ascending to the top floor with him.

"You will find out when you meet Alpha Malakai," Beta Fabian replied coolly before the elevator shut, and I wondered if Alpha Malakai hadn't summoned Mr. Nathan because of me.

I smiled as I felt the warmth in my heart as it crept up my cheeks, making me blush hard.

"Rylee!" Nash yelled my name as he grasped my arms and turned me to face him.

I rolled my eyes and looked at his face as he looked so worried. His handsome face now disgusted me, remembering how he had proposed to Bella Harvey the previous night. The memory came flooding back in my heart and made my chest hurt.

I tried not to cry, knowing that I had nothing to lose. Only that I wasted five good years of my life loving Nash Cameron. I came from an omega family. After I lost my parents at the age of five, I grew up in the pack's orphanage home with a young brother, Levi.

Levi was so small when we lost our parents. It was a tragic incident as there were rogue attacks in the underdeveloped town in the Dark Shadow Pack.

After that night, the alpha came to visit the affected homes, and my brother and I were taken into the orphanage.

I went to free school at the pack's high school, but I wanted my younger brother to further his education as I was four years older than him. I recalled that night our parents hid us in the closet so that we wouldn't be attacked by the rogues.

Levi is all I have as a family, and he was very intelligent. After my graduation from high school, I came to the pack hotel as it was one of the biggest hotels in this pack. It was controlled by our Alpha Oliver Preston. He was Alpha Malakai's father.

Alpha Oliver had three daughters and a son. And Alpha Malakai was the last born child of his parents. Though he controlled this hotel and several other businesses in our pack. He was known as a bad boy Alpha, and that's because he has no mate. He sleeps with and hosts women for fun, and he was very unfriendly to approach.

I was still wondering why Alpha Malakai was kind to me this morning. But I knew that a man like Alpha Malakai cannot have anything to do with a poor working-class Omega like me.

"Rylee!" Nash yelled my name to snap me out of my trance.

"What's it, Nash? You are mated to Bella, and you should be concerned how your true mate would feel when she sees you holding another woman's arms," I rebuked Nash for his actions of holding onto my arms firmly. We are no longer lovers from the moment he went down on his knees and proposed to another she-wolf.

"Rylee, you haven't answered my questions yet. What happened between you and my uncle, and who was the man you mated with last night?" Nash growled, but Elizabeth tried to come in between us to separate us.
