Chapter Six

Maya walked home in silence. She thought about the man she had met in the café and why he looked like he recognized her.

She had never seen him before so why did he recognize her? She sighed, thinking about all of these now wouldn't do her any good. She had been in this country for two years and she had been raising her kids alone.

No one knew about her identity as a wolf and although she found so many wolves living her, she did good not to draw attention to herself. She didn't want anyone to realize who she was. If anything, she was prepared to move to another country once she had stayed for three or four years. Although it would not be good for her kids to move to another country, she had to run away from Vivian who was still hot on her trail.

Thankfully, the house she lived in was protected by a barrier; a barrier that would protect them from anyone with an evil intent.

Maya opened the door to the house and immediately, the milky scent of two toddlers hit her nose. She smiled and entered the man house, when she saw her two children on the ground, they were playing with each other.

“Hey babies, mommy is back!” Maya cooed loudly and the moment the children heard their mother, they turned their little heads back and began to giggle.

The second child, who wore a pink overall with little red strawberries drawn crawled to meet her mother.

“Hello there.” Maya bent down to pick her up, “I hope you have been a good girl to nanny? Did you cause trouble?” Amber, the child giggled and blew spit bubbles at her mother.

Maynard, the older twin stayed still, his dark pupils were fixed on his mother. Maya blinked back at him and counted from one to three in her head, sure enough, when she got to three, the toddler opened his little mouth and began to wail while he did his funny dance.

His butt was high up in the air while his arms were over his head and planted firmly on the ground.

Maya shook her head at the dramatic toddler who wasn't wailing but dancing, albeit dramatically, as well.

This was something he always did when she came back hom from work and most of the time, his sister, Amber stared at him with a look that said, ‘You are a brat. Stop disturbing mommy!’

“Alright, alright. You want to be carried, I know. I'll carry you my dear boy.” Maynard continued to wail and dance until Maya bent and picked him up as well. The moment she did, he stopped crying and began to giggle.

The boy only did this because he probably felt that he had to do something to make his mother want to carry him. He could grow up to be a good comedian in the future.

“Oh, miss, you're back home. Did you have a splendid day at work?” The old nanny came out from the bedroom, she held a small broom in her left hand and on her right was a packer.

Her apron was a bit dirty but her clean white hair, her aged eyes and clean skin seemed to drown whatever bit of a stain was on apron.

“Oh I did, Aunty. I hope my children didn't cause any trouble for you? I apologize if they did anything to make you unhappy…”

“Oh no no! Goodness! Children are meant to ceyas trouble, if they don't, who will? No go on upstairs and take a good shower, I made dinner before I leave.”

Maya smiled and thanked the old woman. The nanny was human, and although she knew that Maya's family was different, she didn't know that they were inhuman. She only thought they were odd.

Once Maya was done eating, she bid the nanny good bye and took her children to her room to rest. The house was small, and it had just one room so they had to share, not that she complained.

She read them a story and after a few minutes, they went to sleep, with thier fingers inside their mouths.

Maya couldn't sleep however, she received an alarming phonecall some moments ago. The person who called told her that someone was snooping around for information about her and he didn't cover up his traces. He purposely left his traces in order to tell them that he meant no harm and if they wanted to look for him, they could easily do so.

She couldn't sleep when she heard that and although her informant said that it wasn't any cause for alarm, seeing how easily her information got found, she got scared that Vivian and Jared would know where she is.

She couldn't sleep the whole night and was contemplating on leaving the country the next morning. Funny right? But that was how scared Maya was.

The next morning, Maya left for work the moment the old nanny came, she would tell them that she wasn't working again and she had to leave. That was her plan, so why was this guy from the day before standing in front of her with a smile on his lips and a brown envelope in his hands.

“I never thought that the runaway woman that my brother's woman was looking for was you. So the child you gave birth to, it's my brother's?” Rome asked, his phoenix eyes were fixed on Maya who shook with fear.

Her entire body was trembling and she clenched her fists around her dress, “W… what are you talking about? I… I don't understand.”

“You don't understand?” Rome smirked as he stepped closer to her. She shifted back step by step, but he also came closer to her step by step, until her back touched the wall.

Rome raised one hand over his head and used his body to trap her movements, but he didn't touch her. His canines peeked out from under his lips as he said again, “My brothers rejected mate and mother of his children, it's you, isn't it?”
