Kael’s POV

The midnight moon gleamed through the cracked window, its soft silver light painting the wooden floor with long shadows. The silence in the room was almost sacred, interrupted only by the occasional rustle of wind against the shutters. Aria rested her head on my lap, her long lashes fluttering against her cheeks, her eyes fixed on the stars outside.

I could feel the tension in her body. She hadn’t spoken in a while, not since Riven left us with his ultimatum: sunrise. That was the deadline. By then, Aria had to choose whether to go with him and claim the throne her father’s side offered… or keep running with me, hoping we could keep ahead of Lucien and the rest of the monsters hunting us.

She shifted slightly, and I felt the weight of her thoughts pressing against mine.

“Kael,” she whispered finally, her voice barely louder than the wind.

“Hmm?”

“What would you advise me to do?”

The question hit me like a punch to the chest. Not because I didn’t expect it. I did. But becaus

Alpha Lucien’s POV“You have to get them,” I commanded through clenched teeth, my voice hoarse but sharp.Pain throbbed through my ribs, the wound from the wolfsbane blade festering beneath layers of gauze. It had slowed my healing. I hated that weakness more than death itself. My pride, my strength, everything that made me Alpha, was being tested. But I didn’t care. Not now.“I must collect that baby,” I growled. “And kill the remaining stains of Beta Alvarick’s bloodline. Gracie. Her mother. Tavin. All of them must die.”Varo, my most loyal soldier, stood before me in silence, his hands behind his back. His face was unreadable, but I could smell the hesitation on him. He knew I was in no condition to lead the charge myself, and yet he didn’t dare suggest otherwise.“Are the hunters in position?” I asked.“Yes, Alpha. We’ve disguised our enforcers as rogue trackers. They intercepted the fugitives in the southern pine forest, just as you predicted. The family is in custody.”“Good.” I

Aria’s POV“An offer?” I repeated, my eyes twitching. I sat straighter on my chair, trying to keep my voice steady, though something in my chest began to twist.“Yes,” Keiran said, standing tall and unbothered, like he was the one in control. His eyes flicked toward Kael for a moment. “One that would bring stability… and avoid unnecessary bloodshed.”Kael’s jaw tightened beside me, but he didn’t speak yet.“Go on,” I said, folding my arms across my chest.Keiran clasped his hands behind his back, stepping forward like he was giving a speech. “We all know what this pack has become. Powerful. Unified. And feared.”He looked at me then, his tone still respectful, but his words turned sharp.“But power is fragile when it’s divided. There are murmurs, quiet ones for now, among the outer circles of your reign. Some believe too many decisions fall into the hands of outsiders.”My brows furrowed. “Outsiders?”Kael’s voice was a low growl. “Say it clearly, Keiran . You’re referring to me.”Kei

Gracie’s POV“Mama, where are we going?” I asked, breathing heavily. My legs ached, and my body still hadn’t fully recovered from the last attack, but I pushed forward. Tavin carried my pup, bundled tightly in a faded wool blanket. His arms were trembling from fatigue, but his grip on the baby never faltered. We were all walking side by side, the forest around us thick and shadowed, the sun dipping behind the trees. It was at that moment I truly understood the essence of family. Not the kind that only stands by you in victory or smiles for the crowd, but the kind that bleeds with you, hides with you, and risks their life just to keep you breathing. My father might have died, but his presence was still here, in the way we moved as one. In the way Tavin looked over his shoulder every ten seconds. In the way Mama clutched her shawl like it was a shield against the world.“We’re going to my mother’s pack,” my mother said, her voice distant, her eyes scanning the winding path ahead. She so

Kael’s POV“All hail the Alpha and Second in Command of our pack,” one of the elders said as he entered the council chamber, bowing low in respect.Aria stood beside me, chin lifted, eyes sharp as ever. She had grown into her role, more than I ever imagined. The throne we stood before wasn’t just a seat of power. It was a symbol. And though we had earned it with blood and sacrifice, holding it came with a weight that grew heavier every day.Especially today. We both nodded to the elder, acknowledging the traditional greeting, though my mind was elsewhere. Aria and I had just returned from another round of training with our warriors, preparing them for whatever storm might come next. But this meeting… this was a different kind of storm.“I trust you know why we summoned you,” Elder Zakiya said, stepping forward with her gnarled staff in hand. She was one of the oldest council members, her back bent but her presence commanding. Her voice still held the strength of generations. She had b

Alpha Lucien’s POVI lunged at the rogue in front of me, claws extended, eyes fixed on one target, Tavin. He was making a run for it. And in his arms, he carried my pup.My wolf doesn’t joke when it comes to killing. Especially not when someone tries to steal what’s mine.I ripped through the rogue’s throat in seconds, hot blood spraying across my chest as the body collapsed beneath my feet. But another took its place immediately, snapping at my heels, foam dripping from its jaws.Chaos had broken loose.Smoke drifted from the corners of the sacrificial temple, the altar in shambles. Warriors clashed with rogues, bodies littered the stone ground. But all I could see was him, Tavin pushing through the fight, shielding the child in his arms like it belonged to him.It didn’t.That baby was of my blood. My heir. My power. And they were trying to take him away.I roared, shifting fully mid-air, my wolf’s muscles stretching under silver fur. I barreled through another attacker, slamming hi

Aria’s POV“What did he say?” I asked, my voice low but firm as I stared at Kael.Kael’s eyes had darkened the moment Damian left the training field. Something about the way his jaw tightened, the slight tension in his stance, it told me more than his words ever could.“Did he say anything wrong?” I asked again, stepping closer to him.Kael’s shoulders tensed for a moment before he released a deep breath. “Don’t worry, Aria,” he finally said. “Damian is on our side.”I nodded slowly, trying to believe him. But that wasn’t what was bothering me the most.It was the dream. The same dream that haunted me every night since the birth. My baby crying, reaching out for me, being taken away again. It never stopped. I would wake up drenched in sweat, my heart pounding, tears already on my face.Everyone kept telling me my pup had died. The healer had announced it. The room was full of witnesses. But deep inside me, deep in my bones, I didn’t feel like he was gone. There was a part of me that s
