Chapter 8

I picked my Coral colored knee length dress to wear tonight. I fixed my hair into a braided bun and then put on a little makeup. Once I was done I made my way to Lyall’s guest room.

On my way to the guest hall I ran into Ayala.

“I’m so sorr…oh it’s you.” Ayala stated with attitude.

“If I were you I’d watch your tongue. I have a lot of say in this pack. Plus aren’t you supposed to be apologizing to me?”

Ayala tensed up and looked like a deer in headlights. She knew she was on thin ice already and she couldn’t mess up again.

“I’m…ssssorry.” Ayala struggled to say.

“Wow. Unbelievable. Can’t even pretend to be sincere.” I shook my head and walked past her, “I don’t have time for this. I have my mate waiting for me.”

“He won’t be yours for long!” She yelled at me.

I stopped and slowly turned around to face her. “Are you threatening me? You know I could simply go to my father right now and tell him what you just said and you would be instantly kicked out and become a rogue! Watch your tongue before I cut it out of your mouth!”

I walked away before she could say anything else. I unlocked Lyall’s door with my spare key and closed the door behind me. I took a few breaths before walking into his room some more.

“Lyall?”

“I’m just about finished I’ll be right out!” He yelled from the bathroom.

I went and sat down on the couch and waited for him. A few minutes later Lyall came out wearing dark jeans and a dark collared shirt. I must have been staring because he started to chuckle at me.

“Like what you see?” He smirked.

“Very much.” I blushed.

He walked over to me and bent down and gave me a kiss. I pulled him down onto the couch and straddled him and I deepened the kiss. I let out a small moan and I could hear him growl back at me.

We made out for a few more minutes before I stopped to let us breath.

“Sorry I don’t know what came over me.” I blushed.

“It’s the mate bond, you can’t control it. Plus I don’t mind.” He winked at me.

I smacked him in the chest and got off of him.

“You ready to go? Oh and I must warn you. Ayala and her mother are here. They supposedly have come to apologize and also ask to join my pack. They have been kicked from theirs.”

Lyall’s eyes flashed from grey to black a couple times before staying grey again.

I ran my hand up and down his arm to comfort him, “Hey it’s okay calm down. My father already warned them to be on their best behavior or they’re out.”

Lyall put his head down, “Sorry I’ll do my best. Please promise me if I start losing control you will take me to your dungeons. I don’t want to hurt anyone.”

I tensed up, I didn’t want to do that but I knew it’s what was needed so I nodded my head, “I promise my love.”

He kissed me on my forehead and then we headed to dinner. My father was waiting outside the dining hall for us.

“Let me make my welcoming speech and then you two can come in and join us all. Sound good?”

Lyall and I both nodded our heads.

A few minutes later we heard my father start to speak.

“Thank you all for coming tonight. I know this is a last second pack dinner and meeting. We rarely ever have these but we have a special reason for that tonight. As you all know, my daughter Azura had her coming of age party last night. During this party she was blessed by our Moon Goddess and found her mate! Without further ado, I would like to meet Azura’s mate Lyall Greyback!”

Everyone started to clap as we entered the dining hall but I was still able to hear a few people gasp when they realized who Lyall was.

Lyall and I smiled and held hands as we walked over to where my family was sitting front and center.

“After we have dinner we will all mingle so you can all congratulate the couple and also get to meet Lyall officially. Later I will also have a meeting to discuss something as a pack that has been bro if he to my attention just a little bit ago. Until then please enjoy dinner and once again congratulations Azura and Lyall.” My father smiled at me.

Dinner went well, no one was starring that I was able to notice. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad tonight. After we all ate Lyall and I got up to make our rounds to say hello to everyone.

Thankfully everyone was on their best behavior but I definitely noticed some people be very hesitant of Lyall. I knew people wouldn’t forget the rumors and it would take more than just one time meeting and mingling for them to become comfortable and trusting of Lyall. Even I wasn’t filling comfortable yet and he is my mate.

Once we made it around the room we made it back to our table so my dad could start the meeting.

“Thank you all for being respectful of our new mated couple. Now onto some business. Earlier I had some visitors stop by asking for a favor. Ayala Kenway and her mother Susan have informed me they have been kicked from the Ocean’s Howl pack. They have requested to join Moon Valley.” My father looked over at me quick before continuing.

“The reason they have been kicked from their pack is because during Azura’s coming of age party, Ayala attacked Azura. Ocean’s Howl has disowned them for being disrespectful and embarrassments. If we do not agree to allow them to join, they will become rogue’s if they choose not to try and join another pack nearby.

“I have allowed them to stay until we come to a decision and also warned them if Ayala slips up they will be banned from here as well. So please if any of you have any questions or concerns please state them now.”

“What does Azura think of this?” An older man asked.

My father looked at me and gave me a nod to say my peace.

“Ayala and I used to be friends. I am not sure what happened as we got older but we are no longer friends. She hasn’t been the nicest to me nor my friends for years. I am still waiting for an apology from her for what she did. As much as I don’t like her, I would hate to see both her and her mother become rogue’s and possibly lose their lives without having the protection from a pack. I personally would need a sincere apology from Ayala. It also needs to be known to them we do not tolerate bullies so if she were to slip up at any point they would be kicked from our pack as well. Wolves work best in packs and as much as I do not want her here I have to be professional and think like an Alpha’s daughter and use my head and not my heart.” I sat back down.

I could see it in my father’s face how proud he was of me for what I just said.

“Anymore questions or concerns?” My father asked.

“How can we know for sure she won’t continue to bully Azura or even any of our other pups?” A woman asked.

“Unfortunately we will just have to take her word for it. If we do accept them into the pack everyone will have to report anything directly to myself if they see or hear Ayala has been bullying anyone. They have been warned and I will warn them again if we decide to allow them in one slip up and they’re out.” My father tried to be reassuring. “If there’s no more questions or concerns I will allow you all to discuss among yourself if you like. I will give you all two days to think about this and we will gather again then and decide. Other than that you are all dismissed if you’d like. Thanks again for coming to celebrate Azura and Lyall.”

My father made his way over to us and asked for the family, including Lyall to join him in his office to discuss things.

We all got up and said our goodbyes before heading to my father’s office to discuss as a family on what we should do about Ayala and her mother.
