00 | The Beginning

In the distant past, a story once emerged about a clan that lived in tranquility and harmony in a hidden village in the deepest heart of an enchanting forest — the clan pleased by Selene, the Moon Goddess.

This clan is small and there is nothing special about them. They live with what they have in the abundance of nature and they are contented and very grateful for it. But if there is one quality that pleased the Moon Goddess with them, it is their undying faith in Her.

This clan — the Cohens, were pure believers of Selene.

Believing that the Moon Goddess gives them grace and protection against the threat of the wild in the forest whenever darkness falls, whenever the moon reaches its prime state, they hold a ceremony to thank and honor Selene for Her light. They dance and sing their gratitude for the Goddess that never fails to reach Her. Because of that, they became special in the eyes of the Goddess and She was very happy with them.

Until one night, when the moon had a blue light, Selene decided to finally visit Her believers to grace them.

"Thy songs are dainties in mine. Thy dances are water in mine. Thy joys are life in mine. I now to give, thy gift." They all bowed down as the Moon Goddess who was enveloped in glorious light spoke.

Every fine and gentle step of Her barefoot that touches the ground brings a blessing. Her white dress never seemed to be dirty and spotless and was being danced by the wind just like Her black shining long hair that was like the night sky.

"When I first set foot on this earth, I caressed the fur of my first child, nurtured and gave his other half, my child from the wolf. And in this last step, I brought with me a gift of my joy for yours," Selene spoke divinely before seeming to pick a light that came from the blue moon.

"As clean as my garment; as pure as my light, my dearest children, thy mother gives, Her blue moon's light."

With both Her palms, She crushed the plucked orb of blue light from Her moon. Becoming as fine as dust, She blew out the crushed light and let it land on the bodies of the prostrated believers.

"We rejoice! We will preserve and enrich the seed of light She gave us. As clean as thy garment; as pure as thy light, our dearest mother, we shall use it right," they cried with joy.

Giving Her last smile, the Moon Goddess whispered into the air, a blessing of abundant life and gave Her final dance. Her body is like dust that gradually disappears while She's dancing in the air until completely vanishes.

After the night the Moon Goddess graces them with Her presence, and the Cohen who received the gift became even more grateful to Her. Night after night, the dances and songs of gratitude at praise for Her continued and never stops. The Moon Goddess did not appear again since as She said that was Her last, even so, they still have the seed of moonlight that She left them that they will cultivate and pass on to those who will be next in their blood.

Several rainy seasons and summers passed; the weeks, months, and years flew fast, the little seed has finally become a fruit and its grace to the Cohens is a unique ability that will be theirs. And as a tribute to their mother who gave them, the sacred moonlight that resides in them, they called it... "Moon Drip".

Bearing the sacred light from the blue moon — of the Moon Drip, the Cohens gained the ability to use it to heal any illness, even serious wounds and lift curses. And as they promised, after they cultivated it, they did not become selfish and used their gift to help those in need.

Since then, the Cohen clan has been recognized by many races and many praises and admire their generosity and amazing and unique abilities they have. And the Werewolves, who were the first children of the Moon Goddess, became the closest race to the Cohens.

Whenever the Werewolves needed help and support, they could easily go to the Cohens who promptly helped them without hesitation. The Cohens fully support the Werewolves as siblings and children of the Moon Goddess but this brotherhood and bond will not last long either.

As time went on, the scent of Moon Drip possessed by the Cohens became intoxicating and enticing to the Werewolves. Every time the blue light of Moon Drip touches their skin, they seem to lose their senses and become hungry until they yearn for it so that they can't stop and wake up the wild beast inside them.

Until a powerful Alpha couldn't stop himself and took the heart of a Cohen, believing that he would gain the power of the Moon Drip the moment he ate it. And he was not wrong, though didn't gain the exact ability, he gained more strength and power and craved for more. His hunger did not stop and began to eat the hearts of the Cohens.

"The Cohens are not friends but food! They are all vessels of the power of the moon. Like a seed waiting to grow and bear fruit to be plucked and eaten! Take their heart and eat my brothers and sisters, and you will have the power that you couldn't imagine!" Howl of the Alpha who became a monster, savage, and hungry for power.

Everyone heard his howl and that dark and horrible moment became a nightmare for the Cohens.

The beginning of their extinction.

The end of the Moon Drip.

Their once peaceful, quiet, and happy life has been replaced by fear and dread, they were forced into hiding to save themselves. But because almost all Werewolves were hunting them down to eat their hearts and because they had no ability to defend themselves, the small and sacred Cohen clan was gradually depleted until time forgets their story.
