Chapter 9

After hugging the baby, Amelia's world seemed to stop for a moment. To her, everything seemed meaningless except the sound of the baby's soft heartbeat. It feels like a soft song to her ear.

She started gently patting the baby's back to calm the baby down. After a while, when she tried to move the baby, the baby grabbed her neck tightly and refused to let go.

Amelia understood that the baby was still scared, so she did not try to force the baby to move. She picked up the baby and started walking towards her car.

Entering the car, she took the water bottle in her hand and said to the child in a calm voice, "I am not going anywhere, honey. Don’t be scared. You must be very thirsty here, drink water."

The boy looked up at her after a while and asked in a trembling voice, "You are really not going to leave me? You will not break your promise, right?"

Looking at the child's innocent face and hearing his words melted Amelia's heart. She gently touched the child's cheek and said, "I promise I won't go anywhere until your parents come to get you"

Then she opened the tap of the water bottle and handed it to the boy. The boy took the water bottle from her hand and drank the water.

When he finished drinking the water, Amelia held out a cotton candy to him. The child's eyes sparkled with joy when she saw the cotton candy. He took the cotton candy in his hand and started eating.

Amelia looked at the children calmly, and a smile of satisfaction appeared on the corners of her lips.

"What should I do now? Should I take the child to the police station, even though the child is very afraid of strangers? If I leave him at the police station, he will be scared and cry.

I don't want to hurt the child, but if I keep him with me, I won't be able to find his parents. What should I do now?

His parents are definitely looking for this child. To find out the child's identity, she asked the child again in a calm voice, "Do you remember where your home is?"

Hearing her words, the child looked at her and, after a while, shook his head.

Amelia could tell from the child's condition that he would not be able to tell her his home address, so she asked him again, "Do you remember your father's phone number?"

The child shook his head again strongly. This time, Amelia became even more worried, and then the child looked at her and said, "Mommy."

Amelia was stunned when the child called her "Mommy"

The child said again, "You are my mommy, right?" The boy was looking at her with hope.

Amelia looked at the innocent child's face and did not answer because the truth would break his heart, and she did not want to break the child's heart, so she reluctantly said, "Yes, I am your mommy."

Amelia thought in her heart that when his parents came, the child would forget her words.

Hearing this, the child's eyes sparkled with joy, and he hugged her tightly again.

Amelia did not understand what to do now. Just then, her phone started vibrating. She looked at the phone and saw that her children had called. Amelia immediately answered the phone, and a worried voice came from the other end of the phone, "Mommy, are you okay? You told us on the phone half an hour ago that you would be home in ten minutes, but even after half an hour, why haven't you come home yet? Are you in any danger?"

Amelia felt sorry for making her children worried for her. She immediately said to calm them down, "I am okay, honey. I will be home in ten minutes, don't worry."

Saying this, Amelia looked at the child and saw that the child had fallen asleep.

Amelia then decided to take the child to her home. She gently placed the child's head in her lap and started driving. As soon as she reached home and rang the calling bell, the door opened.

As if Ethan and Aurora were waiting for her on the other side of the door. Seeing Amelia, Ethan, and Aurora were about to greet her happily, but just then they saw someone hiding behind their mother.

Ethan looked at his mother and asked, "Mommy, who is hiding behind you?"

Emilia looked back and tried to bring the child forward, but the child held on to her clothes tightly as if he were very scared.

Then Amelia knelt and put her hands on the boy's neck and said, "There is nothing to be afraid of. These are your friends; they will not harm you."

Hearing her words, the child looked at Ethan and Aurora and then hugged Amelia again. Aurora looked at her mother and asked, "Mommy, is this our older brother? Have you found our older brother?"

Amelia was completely stunned after hearing Aurora's words. It was true that after seeing the child, she had forgotten about her son, the son she had come to this city to find.

When Amelia didn't answer, she was about to ask her something again, but Ethan held her hand and shook his head.

Aurora didn't ask anything else after receiving her brother's gesture. Then Amelia said, "This is also your brother and friend. Welcome, your new friend."

Hearing her mother's words, Aurora jumped up and said happily, "First, let me introduce myself," she said with a smile. "I am Princess Aurora."

Amelia laughed when she heard her daughter's words. Ever since she learned that the princess's name was Aurora in the storybook, Aurora considered herself a princess.

The child was looking at Aurora and Ethan with interested eyes. Ethan stood in front of the children and extended his hand for a handshake like an adult. "I am Ethan. What is your name?"

Amelia was about to say that the boy didn't like being touched by strangers, but to her surprise, the baby shook hands with Ethan and said, "I am Nick Knight."

Aurora then took the baby's other hand and said, "Nick, come on, let's play with dolls."

Ethan and Nick frowned at Aurora's words. Their foreheads furrowed, and their faces showed signs of annoyance. Both of them were uninterested in playing with dolls. Seeing the facial expressions of Nick and Ethan, Amelia smiled softly and said, "He will play with you, but first he needs to freshen up. You guys get ready to play with Nick, I'll get Nick fresh."

Saying this, Amelia took Nick into the children's room and took out a cloth from Ethan's wardrobe. Since Nick and Ethan were the same height, Amelia could easily select a dress.

When she opened his shirt to bathe the child, she saw some dark spots on the child's back. Seeing this, Amelia clenched her fists in anger, and her heart was filled with sadness.

She was familiar with these dark spots, and she understood very well what these spots were. There were many such spots on her body that were caused by her stepmother's torture.

Amelia was very angry at the thought of someone torturing this little child. She gently bathed the child so that he would not feel any pain.

After applying medicine to his back, Amelia dressed him. Then she took the child to the living room and saw her kids sitting with all their Barbie dolls and playhouses.

As soon as her daughter saw Nick, Aurora said excitedly, "Come quickly, we will play dollhouse now."

Nick looked at the doll and wrinkled his nose again, but Aurora ignored him and started pulling him towards her doll. Then the three of them started playing dollhouse together.

Ethan and Nick were playing with Aurora despite their reluctance. Since childhood, Ethan hasn't liked dolls. Instead of dolls, he likes reading books and playing with airplanes, which Aurora doesn't like at all.

Amelia thought her son was exceptional, but seeing Nick's expression like Ethan's, Amelia understood that Nick was like her son.

She then looked at the children and said, "You all play, I am going to make dinner for you."

Saying this, she went to make dinner. Then she started making some food that the children liked.

After about an hour, she set the dining table and looked at the children and said, "Dinner is ready, come and eat."

Ethan and Nick stood up at once. It wasn't that they were very hungry; it was that they wanted to finish this game as soon as possible.

Amelia laughed at the boys' reaction. When the two of them came and sat down at the dining table, Aurora was still playing with their dolls.

Amelia looked at Aurora and said, "Princess, I have prepared your favorite dinner."

Hearing this, Aurora ran to the dining table with her doll.

Amelia served the food to the three of them and sat down herself.

Ethan and Aurora started eating, but Nick was moving his spoons on the plate. Seeing this, Amelia said, "Dear, did you not like the food?" If you don't like this food, tell me what you want to eat, and I will make it right away."

Nick then said, "I don't want to eat."

Before Amelia could say anything, Aurora said, "Big Brother, you eat this chicken soup. It is very tasty."

Saying this, Aurora looked at his face as if she were waiting for Nick to eat.

Seeing Aurora looking at her like this, Nick reluctantly put a spoonful of soup in his mouth, and his expression changed.

He then started putting spoonfuls in his mouth one after another. Seeing him eat, Amelia smiled and placed a glass of water in front of him and said, "Eat slowly, sweetheart, otherwise it will get stuck in your throat."

Aurora then said proudly, "I told you. My Mommy is the best cook in the world"

Amelia smiled and put a chicken leg on Nick's plate. Just then, the bell rang.
