My Baby's Daddy

The walls are very old, worn out, and damp, which can collapse at any time. Leaking roofs or water accumulating on the floor are common.

An old, half-broken bed, dirty floor, and walls everywhere indicate an unclean and unhealthy environment. If someone lit a light there they can see blood marks all over the wall. However, Amelia couldn't see those, as the room was always dark.

There was no window in that room. So, no one can determine whether it was day or night. It was far from the cell for underage prisoners.

It is the cell of a terrorist. In that dark room, Amelia was sitting in a corner. Uncountless worms are all over the muddy floor and roaming on Amalia's body. Mosquitos are sucking blood from her body but still she didn’t bother to move because she had no strength to move.

Her body was numb. There are wounds all over her body. She was too tired to move. She forgot when she got here. The last thing she remembered was being dragged into that dark room the next second she was sent to the police station that night.

Her father didn’t come to save her let alone meet her once.

"I knew I had no place in his heart. But still, how could he do this to his own blood? Didn’t we have a deal? What should I do now, Mom?

I am really tired." Amelia looked up and whispered in a trembling voice.

She was forced to confess to a crime she never committed.

Her stepsister had killed an innocent man while driving drunk and she was forced to take responsibility for her stepsister's crime.

Because her stepmother had warned her that if she did not confess to the crime, she would burn everything left by her dead mother.

They threatened to burn the things that she wanted to hold on to for the rest of her life as the last memories of her mother.

They did not stop there, they threatened to dig up her mother's body from the grave and throw it in the sea. That day they reached the highest level of cruelty.

That day he had no choice but to confess to the crime. Although her father had said that they would get her out of jail in two days, they did not keep their word.

Amelia's belly twisted in hunger just then she heard faint footsteps. Someone is coming. Amelia hurriedly wiped her tears and picked up the stone from her lap.

She always keeps this small stone with her. It is the only thing that was giving her company all that time.

As the footsteps came closer her grip on the stone tightened. "Not him. Please not him" Amelia started praying in her mind.

She didn’t want to deal with that nasty person who tried to touch her in a bad way countless times.

All that time she screamed and screamed for help but no one came. She had no one to help her. At that time she luckily found that stone in that dark cell and hit the guard. After that day the stone became her bodyguard.

Slowly the footsteps came closer and stopped outside of that dark cell.

"Is that girl still alive?" A female guard who was passing by asked the male guard who was holding a flood plate.

The male guard gave a nasty smile and uttered, "That bitch has some nerve. I thought she wouldn’t be able to survive a week but she proved me wrong and held her breath for years"

The female guard nodded and left. The male guard opened the gate slightly and pushed the plate inside and spoke up rudely, "Eat your meal"

Amelia was still so hungry that she didn’t move from her place. She was too scared to be touched by those dirty hands again. She remained at her place.

When the footsteps faded again she started clawing forward because she had a heavy chain around her legs. It made her weak body move with it.

Shortly she found the plate and hurriedly put her hand on it. She found a piece of hard bread, a bottle, and a small box. It was leftover curry.

When she opened the box an awful smell hit her nose as usual. The smell was so bad that it would be difficult for anyone to stand it but Amelia paid no attention to it.

Because she was so hungry and needed something to fill her stomach.

Amelia broke off a small piece of bread and dipped it into the freezing cold curry and stuffed it into her mouth without thinking too much.

The cold curry melted into her mouth and left a bitter taste. The curry was rotten as she expected.

As she ate, at some point tears welled up in her blue eyes. She wanted to throw up but she knew if she did it those guards would hold this as disobedience and punish her. Amelia didn’t want to be hit by that burning rod again.

She put another piece in her mouth as more tears rolled down her cheeks.

Every time she kept putting rotten food in her mouth, tears started flowing down her face. She started feeling the salty taste of her tears along with the rotten food.

Amelia still didn't react, she kept putting the rotten food in her mouth one after the other like a lifeless doll. When the time plate was empty, she took the water bottle in her hand and gulped down the water.

After drinking the water, she went back to a corner of the room and sat down leaning against the wall. She closed her eyes and started muttering, "You have to live, Amelia. You can not give up. Nick is waiting for you. You need to go back to him. You can do this. You must have to endure everything and live for him"

Nick her beloved boyfriend was another reason she took the blame. They also threatened her to tell Nick the secrets she wanted to hide from him forever. She didn’t want to lose her mother's belongings, or her boyfriend so she accepted the crime.

"I need to get out of here alive because Nick is waiting for me"

While muttering she fell asleep.
