My Husband And A Lover

The drama unfolded between me and my husband coupled with our misunderstandings as we just got married.

"Goal..." Martin cried out in euphoria.

"Gosh... you frightened me." I stood up, presiding to the kitchen.

"It's the game darling, it's the game and I would respect it if you could sit down and watch it with me, I admire a woman who would rock a jersey with me, watch and discuss football."

"Honey you know I hate football but as a wife, I had to forfeit my tv series. Look I can't keep going this way. I propose you buy another cable, you watch your football while I watch my shows."

"That sounds great."

I saw a grim tinge on his face, I recognize that he wants me to love football just the way he does, but I am not that kind of woman, I want him to want what I want and feel the way I feel.

I moved into the kitchen and prepared a savoury dish for him, and positioned it carefully on a tray.

"Honey your food is ready." I alarmed.

I expected him to commend my cooking but he didn't say a word.

"Honey don't you like it," I asked.

"I do."

"But you didn't say anything."

"What do you expect me to say, large your cranium, look I've done that in the past when we were dating, we're wedded now, so you don't expect me to always compliment, at least once in a while."

"Well am your wife, and I want compliments." I raised my voice.

"Vanessa," Michael exclaims, burning in anger. "If you need me to always compliment your food, then I need you to think, communicate and react the way I do."

"And I need you to feel, communicate and respond the way I do." I ran my fingers across my hair.

"You know... this is all about the game to you. Girls are not even meant to watch football, it's a guy's thing, so you don't expect me to do such."

I kept talking, expressing my feeling the way I could but I was ignored.

"Are you even listening?" I said.

"As you can see am watching another football match."

"This is our honeymoon, my first day of marriage, I am meant to enjoy it. We are meant to be sentimental, romantic Martin, romance. At least no football throughout our honeymoon, just you and I."

"I notice what you're trying to do, you're aiming to change me. You know what, your fucking beginning to piss me off. My name is Martin Peter, I am a man. A real man is not supposed to be sentimental or utopian, I will satisfy you in the room when being convenient."

"So how is a real man supposed to be."

"A real man is meant to be attracted to the news, weather and sports, rather than people and feelings. A real man is meant to fantasize about powerful cars,  faster computers, gadgets, gizmos, and new powerful things. A real man is concerned about what will help him express power. I am a real man and let me sound this as a warning, I hate being corrected by a woman or being told what to do by a woman because it makes me feel weak."

"Huh... do I even know you anymore? You're not the man I got married to just yesterday, you're not the man I dated for more than two years."

"And you're not the woman I also got married to." He yelled. "You can watch tv, am going to bed." He angrily leaves the living room.

I felt the need to make my husband happy and sex is just the way to get relieved of the argument we just had.

I stripped down to nothing and joined him in the room, no man can resist a naked woman no matter his mood.

We made love but he hates the woman in the top position because it makes him feel less a man.

After the sex, I felt the need to ask where we should spend our honeymoon. "So where will we be going for our honeymoon? Is it Dubai?"

"Is spending our honeymoon in this house a problem for you?"

"I am upset by your question."

"And I am upset with you for yesterday."

"I gave you advice, I offered you help."

"I offered you help." He mimicked. "You don't trust I can do things by myself, do you? Do not ever try to give me advice again. I can solve my problem myself unless I ask for your help."

The word he said earlier hits me hard, "I hate being corrected by a woman or being told what to do by a woman because it makes me feel weak."

I swore deep down that I would never make my husband feel less of a man again.
