John’s POV

The walls of the abandoned office building were barely standing with a large part fallen. We broke into the second floor of what used to be an accounting firm, dragging a trash can to the center of the room to light a fire.

I wasn't supposed to be living this way, how did I even get to this point?!

Lily curled into herself by the corner, clutching a filthy blanket tightly over her ruined designer coat.

"John, I can't eat this," she whimpered, tossing the can of baked beans onto the

  • My Revenge Begins In 30 Days   Chapter 43

Sarah's POV My phone buzzed against the nightstand, shattering the quiet peace of the bedroom. It was a message from Mike. Attached was a link to a private live stream and a single line of text. “Boss, you’re going to want to watch this.” I tapped the link. The screen instantly filled with the beautiful lights of the city’s most elite charity auction. The camera, likely held by one of Mike’s hired informants, was focused perfectly on the front row VIP tables. There he was. John sat in the center, holding a glass of expensive bourbon, looking like the perfect, untouchable billionaire CEO. Beside him sat Lily. She was clad in a designer gown he had purchased for her just hours. Diamonds sparkled at her throat and wrists, catching the flash of the press cameras. She was surrounded by a small group of wealthy women, sipping champagne and giggling. Because the streamer was seated directly at the next table, the microphone picked up their voices loud and clear. "Is it true Sarah mis

  • My Revenge Begins In 30 Days   Chapter 42

Sarah’s POV I stood by the window in my bedroom, sipping from a cup of hot coffee as I stared out at the crazy mess outside. The sun was up, but it didn't bring any warmth. The whole city down in was gone and what was left was just just a huge pile of snow and ice. Nothing was moving. No cars, no humans, nothing. If I hadn't moved fast, and bought this place, Jessica and I would be down there right now. Freezing. Dying. I took a deep breath and turned around. Jessica was tucked under the blankets on the bed. She was snoring softly, totally clueless about the hell going on outside. Thank God. I set my coffee down and scanned the room, then grabbed my sweater. I couldn't just stand here all day, there was work to be done. My feet tapped gently against the warm floor as I walked down the hallway. The generators were humming quietly beneath the house and that sound was the best music I enjoyed this period. We had power. We had heat. I headed straight down to the cont

  • My Revenge Begins In 30 Days   Chapter 41

John's POV My grip tightened on the steering wheel and I pounded hard against the leather, the horn blaring loudly into the night. The bright light of the motel glowed above us. Half of the letters were barely standing and the cans leaking out of the garbage can with flies hovering all over the place. But this was it. This was all my remaining cash could afford. Just hours ago, I was sitting at the center of the city’s elite, bidding millions at a charity auction. Now, the bank had seized my mansion, and practically chased me out of my own damn life. The door swung open and Lily angrily exited the car, her heels sinking into the muddy waters. She stared at the old paint, they were barely holding on to the wall and she paused, the tears she had been holding back finally burst out. "John, I can't do this!" she wailed, her voice cracking as she clutched her ruined expensive dress. "Look at this place! It's disgusting! There’s fucking mold on the windows! My clothes, my je
