ANMELDEN
[ Cassandra ]
“Luna, you’re two weeks pregnant!”
My mind went numb, eyes unable to believe what my doctor showed me on the monitor screen. A small life was forming inside me.
My baby.
Mine and Dominic’s child, the heir to NightShade Pack.
“Is..is it true?” I asked her again to confirm, my eyes were moistened.
“Yes, Luna. You are finally blessed with a child. I hope now this pack would stop demeaning you and see you as their true Luna. You are also a doctor, how could you not notice the changes in your body?” Ellie, my friend and trainee doctor at the pack hospital said, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“I was so occupied in the hospital and doing my duties as Luna that I hardly got time to sleep.” I forced a smile.
“I hope these people will see your efforts and sacrifices once this baby is born.” She said with a genuine smile.
It’d be like crying for the moon if I expect the pack to love me and accept me wholeheartedly and not under their Alpha’s fear. But with this baby, a seed of hope growing inside me, I could dream of receiving some genuine respect and also my husband’s affection.
“Ellie, can you please keep my pregnancy records confidential until I break this news to Dominic? I don’t trust anyone around here except you. Dominic is coming home tonight and till then I want it to remain between us.” I requested her.
“Sure, Luna but make sure you eat healthy and avoid stress. In your condition, this alpha baby might require more of the nutrition from you.” She advised me and prescribed pre-natal medicines that pregnant she-wolves had to take.
“Although, I am wolfless but I will protect this baby with my life.” I said placing my hand on my belly.
“It’s undeniable. This baby and the alpha are lucky to have you in their lives.” She said.
I left the hospital and went to the pack house to see the preparations of my husband’s grand welcome. He had gone for two weeks to fight the rogues. It was a fierce battle that he was fighting with other alphas.
I was still trying to process the news but I was overwhelmed.
I never thought it would be possible. Not in a million years.
For two years, I had been his Luna in name only. On our wedding day, Dominic made it perfectly clear: this was a marriage on papers. He would never touch me. Never.
Because his heart belonged to someone else. My older sister. His true mate.
She died two years ago in an accident, and a part of him died with her.
I knew I could never compare to my dead sister. I wasn't foolish enough to try. So I did the only thing I could— trying my best to be a worthy luna. I attended every meeting, resolved every dispute, cared for every wolf who needed help. I told myself that if I worked hard enough, if I became worthy enough, maybe one day Dominic would look at me. Really look at me.
But two weeks ago everything changed.
The night of his farewell banquet before he left to fight against rogues, he came home drunk.
I vividly remember the touch when he hugged me out of the blue and asked me if he could kiss me, he told me that he badly wanted me.
I allowed myself to be loved by my husband for the first time in two years.
That night sowed the seeds of love and a new hope inside my womb.
“Luna, the alpha has arrived at the pack. You are expected to be present for his welcome.”
A voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I saw a guard standing at my office door.
Dominic was home. Finally, my wait was over and I could tell him about our baby.
I wiped my tears. My heart swelled and my feet were already running towards the gates to welcome my husband whom I was about to see after a long time.
He stepped out of the car, clad in a grey suit, his tall, muscular frame and alpha aura intimated the air around him, he had the emotionless expression but his charismatic personality, the most handsome face made my stomach churn.
I placed my hand on my belly. I was carrying the flesh of this man. I can’t wait to see his reaction when he learns about his pup.
“Dominic!” I whispered his name.
Our eyes met for a flicker of a second and my heart fluttered. Those ocean blue eyes captivated me.
I walked towards him but my feet stopped when he stepped aside and lifted someone out of the car.
My heart sank.
It was a woman, not some woman but my older sister whom everyone considered dead two years ago.
“Amelia?” I gasped.
My sister, his fated mate and true love was back!
[ Cassandra ]“Can’t stand this woman. I mean just look at her. She’s all over the place, jumping here and there. She thinks being a good host makes her a good Luna candidate. She looks desperate.” Ellie rolled her eyes who was standing beside me.“Let her live this evening. She has been waiting for this day for so long.” I commented. My own eyes observed how Amelia was trying her best to be everywhere, talking and greeting alphas and their families who arrived at the pack.Exhaustion and pressure of performing in her best capacity were clearly visible on her perfectly drew expressions.“But nobody seems to see her more than Alpha Dominic’s side chick. They used to respect you, adore you for your personality.” She whispered and it was true.“I worked hard to earn that but I am not interested in this show anymore. So, let’s have our dinner quickly and leave.” I said gulping down another shot of an expensive wine.“You can go but I’ll stay. I am still hoping that my mate will come tonig
[ Cassandra ]The day arrived when all the alphas started gathering at the Night Shade Pack. The arrangements were done on a praiseworthy level but the money was also spent like water. The management didn’t care if they would run out of funds in the time of emergency.Dominic already had too much on his platter. I could see him working tirelessly without proper sleep and skipping meals. After our conversation at the cliff, I again blocked all the chances of coming across him.“Are you joining the dinner?” Ellie asked. She couldn’t stop talking about the dresses that she had selected to wear every day ever since she learned about the council meeting and the gathering.“I am not interested in the packs’ politics anymore. It’s a toxic environment, especially middle-aged males eying me like a candy.” I replied nonchalantly and it was true.Keeping such men at a hand’s distance used to be the biggest challenge for me.“Come on, you can’t miss such lavish dinner. It’s not new for you and yo
[ Cassandra ]Standing under the shadow of moon, I stared in front of me, far stretched woods below the cliff and lights coming from the houses below filled my heart with a sense of empty calmness. The howls of wolves who must be on run echoed in the valley.Once upon a time, I was also a young spirited girl with a beautiful pale white wolf. Her name was Maya. Even though we weren’t as strong as others, she was the most iron-willed wolf that I have ever known. She was my only companion in the lonely world which is full of selfish people. When she died, I became a living corpse. Without her, life felt meaningless.“I miss you, Maya. I hope one day we’ll meet again in Selene’s heavenly abode.” My eyes teared up.Fortunately, there was no one who would see my vulnerable state or question me.“You shouldn’t be wandering alone here, Doctor. This place isn’t safe for you.”I was startled by the deep, almost icy voice of Dominic Woodford. His presence quickly dominated the air.“You guarante
[ Dominic ]Dr. Miller walked past me like I am nothing but an invisible ghost in her eyes. After the unexpected moment between us at the hotel, I had been avoiding her, or I should correct my word choice. We avoided each other like a deadly plague. I spent most of my time talking to other packs, analysing our strategies or training my warriors for any situation. On the other hand, I hadn’t seen her much either. She had been taking her meals in her room or in her office.“Dom, are you even listening to me?”Amelia’s voice cut through my disturbing thoughts. “I suggested many changes during the dinner and also the living arrangements of our guests. You look like your mind is somewhere else.”“The living arrangements are supervised by Dustin and it’s done keeping in mind the safety of our guests and dinner, I think you have already made changes five times. Our cooks are also people with bones and flesh. Have some mercy on them.”“Dominic, but they are all alphas and we have to live up
[ Cassandra ]“Seriously, Roman? Something like this big is happening and you kept me in the dark?” I threw my hands in the air.We were on a video call.“Cassie, I only wanted to keep you out of stress, okay. You are already dealing with a lot and staying at Night Shade Pack itself is the biggest challenge.” He replied, sincerity dripping from his words but I wasn’t fully convinced.“Don’t take my name here and secondly, I am not worried about Night Shade Pack, not even an ounce. What about your pack? A place which I can call my second home? How are you going to keep your pack out of Lucian’s path??” I asked.Stress was clearly visible on his charming face. He should be feeling under pressure when other alphas are in frenzy.“I received invitation from Dominic to attend the all alpha council, to discuss our further strategy to safeguard the south from that Lycan.” He spoke after a moment of silence.I wasn’t surprised.“Are you coming?” I asked.“Yes, it’s a formal invitation and our
[ Cassandra ]Almost a week has passed since Dominic Woodford crossed the line between us and kissed me.A week of inner conflict and contemplation. I hadn’t seen him ever since then. I returned to his pack on my own. I heard from the maids that their alpha was very busy, he only left his office to supervise the morning training of the warriors or for a run.I knew what riled him up.Roman was also tensed about the same but Dominic’s pack was more exposed to the danger lurking on everyone in the south region.Alpha Anton Morozov, the slayer of the east, alpha of the Black Eagles Pack, an alpha whose name was enough to freeze even the bravest heart.I also heard about his family and its bloody history in school times. A girl of our pack was abducted by them, they said she was fated mate of a wolf of Anton’s pack.A month later, her mutated body was found near the west borders. She was suspected of spying. They slayed packs, remove their existence if someone dared to declare animosity ag

[ Dominic ]I felt an uneasy feeling settling in my chest. My wolf, Rex, was anxious, pacing and howling around in my mind.I snapped at Cassandra when she called me. She wanted to tell me something but I said harsh words to her in my anger. Amelia had been crying and I couldn’t see her state after
[ Cassandra ]I woke up on the hospital bed, the sterilized smell of the medicines and beeping sound of machines reached into my ears and I tried to move.A dull pain aches in my whole body, especially my lower abdomen and as soon as I recalled how I ran after my husband to explain to him that I wa
[ Cassandra ]“There’s only one woman in my heart and that’s you, Amy. I have only loved you because you’re irreplaceable in my life.”Dominic’s confession crushed the last flicker of hope inside me. I felt a part of me dying, the part he saved and revived two years ago.“Oh, Dominic, I don’t doubt
