Chapter 22

Lexi’s pov

Examining Nolan's wrapping job on my broken humerus I side-eyed him. Nova informed me that the bone was lined up perfectly and she would have it repaired in a few hours.

“You did well, Nolan. Has Nathan replied to the text you sent?”

Tossing branches into the small fire he had started Nolan shook his head.

“Nope and his location flicked off so I think he turned off his phone,” he answered.

Concerned, I cringed before I asked, “Do you think they hurt him?”

Tossing the wood into the fire Nolan hissed bitterly.

“He is fine, Lexi! Our mom has him and he will be staying at her house with a nice soft bed while we are out here sleeping on the hard ground amongst the insects,” he snarled and instead of being insulted by his outburst I giggled.

“Oh the poor rich boy has never been camping in the great outdoors,” I teased.

Shaking his head, his lip curled.

“I've been camping…when I was a pup,” he muttered.

Laughing lightly I tossed a stick at him and stuck out my tongue.
