“Get me a drink!”

Luca said to one of his servants.

He threw his suit jacket on a sofa and began pacing restlessly round the room.

Him and Arman had just gotten back.

“You're not going to disfigure your face in time for your wedding are you?”

Arman asked

“You know I am”

Arman took out his gun from his pocket, then he sat down.

“You can always talk about your feelings instead”

“You know I've never been one with words. Frankly I don't think there's anything to talk about.

I hate her, that sums up all my feelings”

A bottle of liquor was brought and set on a table

“What if, in the long run—”

“What if what?”

“What if she falls in love with you?”

“With the way I plan to treat her, I don't think that will happen”

What if you fall in love with her?

Luca poured himself a glass and drank it down.

“Arman, you know me better than my brother does. Have you ever seen me in love?”

“No

But I also haven't seen you hate someone

Knock yourself out Luca, just make sure you get a makeup artist to conceal your bruises before the wedding

You don't want to traumatise the poor girl any more than you already have”

Arman picked up his gun, stood up and left.

Luca was left alone, to stare into space and drink away his misery.

It started with a punch to the side of his face, then he just kept doing it till his vision was blurry

He didn't know how long he did it for, but he was on the floor, and someone was holding him. She smelled familiar

He knew her too well

“What the fuck are you doing here Sandra—”

****************

Sharon stared at the small pregnancy test stick she held in her hand

The single vertical line stared back at her.

She was releived she wasn't pregnant, but the stress and mental pressure she had to go through to get that info was too much

Her period came that morning, and convinced her some more.

Her mind was in a mess.

Her tornado of thoughts swirled inside her head.

Luca, Claire, Donald, her wedding, her father, her—

If she turned out to be pregnant, would he have looked at her differently?

Did her father look at her mother differently? The answer would always be no

Sometimes she felt like she wasn't the daughter of Hillary Gray.

He didn't treat her like he would treat a child whom he loved dear

So if ever she was going to bring a child into the world, she would make sure it was wanted, loved by both parents. Or she wouldn't have children at all.

Sharon's phone rang, it was Claire calling.

She had earlier sent a series of text messages, trying to apologise to her, but she didn't mention why she showed up at her front door.

“Hello Claire, I'm so sorry, I was supposed to be the one to call—”

“It's fine”

“Can we meet, I really want to talk to you”

“Sharon I'm kinda in the middle of something—”

“Oh, that's okay”

“My bridesmaids dress was delivered this morning, Donald suggested somewhere else for my make-up so—”

“You won't need to see me until the wedding day, thats—okay”

“But you and your fiancé could do it together, you'll be alright”

Sharon was silent

“Sharon?”

“Yes Claire”

“Donald asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes”

Sharon saw it coming, but the news hit her hard. At that moment she felt their bond sever a little bit.

Claire had made up her mind, and there was no stopping her.

“I'm happy for you Claire, I really am.

Congratulations”

There was a long pause, then Sharon hung up.

She felt something heavy in her throat.

Claire had always been there for her, but now she felt completely alone.

But Sharon couldn't complain, Claire seemed happy. And if Claire was happy, she had no right to ruin her happiness.

Sharon just didn't want her best friend to get hurt.

“Maybe I'm just being paranoid”

“Maybe I'm just jealous that he cares for her and Luca treats me like shit”

“Maybe Donald Pavilochenki wants the best for Claire and I'm a bad friend”

Sharon picked up her phone.

She was going to go with the flow.

Maybe, just maybe Luca could accompany her to grab her wedding dress. She just didn't want to go alone.

“I'll give him a call, then I'll thank him for yesterday, and I'll make my offer”

For the first time, Sharon Gray dialed Luca Pavilochenki's number—

Sandra moaned Luca's name as she tightened her grip on his hair

Luca was silent, only his breathing could be heard

Sandra's screams echoed through the house.

It wasn't her fault. Luca was half drunk and angry, and having him fuck the life out of her was her way of calming him down.

Of course if he was sober he would've kicked her out of his house—

To Luca, women were objects, mindless pieces that could be used and thrown away.

Sandra was more than happy to be his object. But for some reason he was more violent than usual.

There was a phonecall

Luca looked at his phone, ignored it and kept fucking her senseless

Why- ah

Why won't you pick?

It's not important

Sandra stretched out her hand until she grabbed the phone

Luca barely conscious didn't realise it in time

Sandra picked the call

“Hello Luca — it's me Sharon”

Sandra moaned into the phone

“Thanks for picking up and sorry for bothering you, I —

I was thinking if

“Fuck me Luca!”

Sandra screamed

Sharon's voice cracked, but she continued talking

“I just wanted to thank you for —”

“For what!’

This time it was Luca's voice, unmistakably

“Yesterday, I'm sorry —”

Sharon cut the call, it was too much for her to bear.

A tear slipped down, then it flowed to her mouth

And the only thing she could taste

Was bitterness

And resentment —

I felt his eyes move from my face,to my neck, to my cleavage. The robe did what it could—I could feel the heat rising inside of me. He wanted me, I could see it in his eyes. But I had to resist him, I mean we had barely even spent a day.If I was going to make it through in one piece, I needed to get him off my mind. That was the problem precisely. He was Luca Pavilochenki—“Ciao Bella signora!”I looked around for the owner of the squeaky voice, but I couldn't find himThen I looked down. He was standing between us, looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the world He was missing a few teeth, probably six or seven years old. And then I remembered the chorus that morning. Could he be one of them?“Well hello”I said, wondering if he had been there the whole time. If he had watched me and Luca grow awkward. But wait, he didn't understand English.I heaved a sigh of relief as I patted him on the headHe smiled at me, his missing teeth making him all the more cuteThen h

Welcome to Italy! The air hostess’ words filtered through space Sharon's mind was far away. Her and Luca hadn't seen each other for hours. No texts, not calls, nothing. He seemed to respect her privacy a little too much She was scared, scared of opening up a wound that didn't properly heal in the first place. She was scared of letting him know about her tragic past, scared letting him see what she had been hiding Nobody knew, not even Claire So she pushed him away—And gosh, she didn't even mean to But like he said, they were strangers. They landed in a private jet terminal in Florence, and walked into the VIP Like strangers, who met by chance on the plane—Immediately they filed the necessary paperwork, they were both met by two tour guides. Their luggage was taken to their respective places of residence It was evening, they were both tired, and things weren't quite settled between them The night was cold, and even the warmth of Italy couldn't shield herSharon looked at h

Sharon's fork fell to the floorHer eyes went blank, and her face was frozen in expression “Sharon I—”“Leave”“What?”“I'm not comfortable— around you”At that moment, Luca realised he had stepped on uncharted territory. Sharon never spoke to him about her nightmares, never gave him an explanation for her post traumatic responsesHe always suspected something, but he never gave in to his curiosity. Never asked, never pried, never raised questions And now, he just ruined a genuine moment, hopefully the first of many to come—By stating that she had a traumatic childhood Luca slowly stood up, with his head bowed “Sharon”“Don't fucking call me that. You're a stranger to me, remember?”Sharon had never spoken to him like that before. Infact she hardly defied him. He usually had his way, somehow. But he was beginning to realise that he hadn't touched the tip of the iceberg And winning her trust, her heart—Was still an abstract thought. One moment he felt like he was making progres

“Hey”“Riann”“Huh?”“Do you usually fall asleep on strangers?”Sharon became aware of her surroundings, and yes, she was sleeping on him Still, she had no idea how she got into that position, since she had been sitting opposite him “I'm sorry”She said, standing up quickly. Like he was the plague“I don't mind, really”She went back to her initial sitting position “No thanks”“Are you hungry Bella?”“No”Sharon folded her arms around her waist, but she couldn't stifle the sound of her stomach growling Luca gave her a comical smile “Will you eat with me?”Sharon sighed. She knew where it was going. He would offer to feed her during the course of their meal, and hold her in a romantic position. And slowly, she would desire his touch, his affection And eventually, they would do it again, and again, and Sharon would slowly fall in love—“No, I don't dine with strangers”Luca pressed a small bell and two waiters walked in with trays of food“It's okay, I'll leave the room for you t

“We will now take off, I urge you to sit tight and make yourselves comfortable”The cheesy voice of the air hostess echoed through Sharon smiled slightly She sat on a plush white cushion, a table was set in front of her with various appetizersLuca was in another room, keeping his word to make things appear like they met on the tripIt was delusional, but cuteTheir first encounter was terrible, their second, even worseAnd now they were just supposed to forget everything, the doubt, the uncertainty, all of itIt was like—A fresh start A sort of do over. They never got to discover anything about each other before they were married, never courted, never had genuine moments Their marriage was like a death sentence, a cross they had to carry, a burden they were straddled with Maybe if they had met under normal circumstances, maybe if they weren't forced into a union, things would've been different For Sharon, it was going to be a journey of self discovery. She was twenty three yea

“You look beautiful”Sharon turned to see Luca standing behind her. He was wearing a plain black shirt, with black pants and loafers. His lips were curled slightly into a smile His eyelashes fanned his deep blue eyes, and his hair was messed up perfectly, adding to his sheer beauty His presence sent shivers through her, and when their eyes met, for a moment, just a moment, they shared something beautiful. It was a fragile feeling, still in it's foetal state. And Sharon wasn't willing to accept it for what it was Not yet—“Thank you”Her eyes slowly darted back to the mirror, and she continued to adjust the band on her hairHe walked closer, so that could hear his breathing behind her, and feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke “Leave it”“What?”He looked at her from the mirror.“I like your hair free”His hands moved to her head, and slowly, he loosened the bun she was trying so hard to achieve. He used his fingers to straighten them out, and paused for a moment to admire
