My mate was kissing another man right in front of me. If I was a fool then maybe I could rationalise it by saying that alpha Dalton initiated the kiss. But that didn’t explain why she was pulling him closer and kissing him back with so much enthusiasm. Even after everything her father said, she clearly wasn’t doing this completely against her will.

I just wish it didn’t have to hurt so much. My self esteem was already low after what my ex did but this was a much larger blow. Your mate was meant to be almost genetically predisposed to love you, so what did it say about me if even she didn’t want to be with me. If I didn’t need alpha Dalton’s help so badly I would have snuck out of here and spent the rest of the evening drowning my sorrows in a dark and dingy bar somewhere.

Franklin noticed the way I was looking at the woman alpha Dalton was kissing and it must have been clear to him that she was my mate. He was looking at me with such pity, I hated it. I was strong and resourceful. Gr
