Chapter 9

Lindsay's Pov

I did not go out that day.

The wounds on my body had not fully healed yet, and some areas were festering because of the rain yesterday.

I needed enough rest so that my wolf could heal me within a short amount of time.

So... I spent all morning sleeping on the couch with Jude in my arms. I did not even eat lunch.

My eyes snapped open when I heard the rapid buzzing of the doorbell. I opened the door and saw a woman in her forties or fifties.

“Hi. You are—?”

“I’m the housekeeper for the scheduled cleaning.”

I nodded and stepped aside to let the housekeeper in.

As I was sitting on the couch watching TV, suddenly, a scream came from upstairs.

I rushed into the bedroom. The panicked housekeeper looked at me.

Next to her feet was a broken photo frame.

This was Bishop’s bedroom, so the framed photo—

I guessed it was probably a photo of him and his mother when he was a child.

The housekeeper was trembling with red-rimmed eyes.

“What should I do? This is his most treasured item. I
