"Amelia! Breakfast is ready."  Mrs Thompson said from the kitchen.

"Coming Mom," replied Amelia from her room upstairs where she had been arranging her things for her new school.

Seventeen year old Amelia Thompson was a stunningly beautiful teenager with long jet black hair, she was tall and athletic with light freckles on her face. This was going to be her first day at Maverick High school and she hated first days at school, with all the students staring at you like you were some kind of alien.

Her Dad had been transferred from his place of work and they had to move so they could be closer to the new workplace. His transfer also came with a promotion which meant an increase in salary.

Even before all of this, Amelia barely saw her Dad. He left for work every morning before she woke up and got back home late at night after she must have gone to bed. Now with the promotion at his place of work, all of this was about to be made worse.

She always complained to her mother about this but her mother just told her that her father was working so hard just to make sure she had a good life and didn't lack anything but she already had everything, her parents were rich enough and she would gladly exchange all their riches for the presence of her father.

She missed her old school even though she didn't have a lot of friends there just a few selected ones, everyone thought she was proud just because she was beautiful and rich but still she loved the simplicity of the students as it was a public school but now, her father wanted her to mingle with her fellow rich kids and also a school closer to their new environment.

Maverick High school was the first choice as it was known all over the state as the school attended by the children of the rich and elite. Amelia disliked "Rich kids" even though she was one herself, but still, she didn't like their proud nature and the way they all behaved like the world was beneath them.

"Well, I'll show you all." she muttered to herself while arranging her books in her school bag.

After she was done, she picked the bag up and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"So, Amelia, I hope you're prepared for your new school". Said her Mom at the dining table.

"Yes Mom," she replied. She didn't want to have this conversation.

"Very well then, finish up your food and let me drop you off at school before I head over to work" Said her Mom.

"Yes Mom" she said again.

When her Mom first told her that she was going to be changing schools, she wasn't happy, she hated being the new girl at school, the one that everyone stared and pointed at but now, she was determined never to let some spoiled brats at Maverick High bring her down. She finished with breakfast, picked up her backpack and went out to the car, her Mom got into the driver's seat and they were off.

Maverick High school, popularly known as Maverick High was a school attended by the children of rich and influential people in the society. It was a school with one of the best teachers in the whole of the USA. The children of a former president were also known to have attended the school which made it all the more popular.

The school had many awards to its name, both locally and internationally. Amelia's Mom got into the driveway and parked the car, Amelia got out and mistakenly dropped her backpack. She cursed, bent down and started packing up her things.

"Well, what a very good omen for a first day at school". She said to herself. By the time she was done picking up her things, her Mom had gotten out of the car and she came around to Amelia's side.

"Ok girl, your first day at school.'' Her mother said to her, smiling.

"Yeah," Amelia replied half-heartedly.

Her Mom looked at her with a slight frown, "What's wrong Amy" her Mom asked her with a concerned look on her face.

"Nothing Mom, I'm fine," she said.

"Well, you don't look fine, cheer up dear. It's your first day here so it's ok to be nervous a bit, chin up dearie, this would be a breeze". Her Mom said with a slight laugh.

Amelia didn't see what was funny but because she loved her parents and didn't want to let them down, she forced a smile.

"Enjoy your first day at school honey." Her Mom said as she pecked her on the cheek and got into her car.

Amelia stood there and watched her Mother drive off till the car was out of sight. Then grudgingly, she turned and walked towards the school's building.

AmeliaAmelia sat in the passenger seat, her fingers drumming against her lap as her mother drove down the long, winding road leading to Blake’s house. The second day of their project work had arrived, and as promised, her mother insisted on driving her. Amelia hadn’t thought much of it at first, but now, as they neared their destination, she could feel her mother’s excitement radiating off her.“You know,” her mother said, her voice laced with nostalgia, “I still can’t believe Evelyn's son is in your group. What are the odds?”Amelia shrugged, her gaze fixed on the trees lining the road. “Maverick High isn’t that big. It was bound to happen.”Her mother chuckled. “Still, it’s a pleasant surprise. Evelyn and I were inseparable back in high school. We did everything together.”Amelia turned to look at her mother. “Then why did you two lose touch?”A shadow passed over her mother’s face. “Life happened. College, work, marriage... We both got busy. But I never stopped thinking about her.

Blake Blake was fuming.Catherine was an idiot. An insufferable, possessive, delusional idiot. He had told her time and time again to stop meddling in his business, but she never listened. Her jealousy was out of control, and today, she had made a complete fool of herself. Worse, she had dragged him into the mess.He clenched his fists as he stormed toward Principal Jerkins’ office. The second the final bell rang, his name had been called over the intercom, summoning him immediately. He knew exactly why. Amelia had gone to make a report at the principal's office and the principal had summoned him to warn him. The moment he stepped into the office, Principal Jerkins looked up from his desk with a tired expression. "Blake, have a seat."Blake crossed his arms. "I’ll stand."Jerkins sighed. "Fine. I’ll make this quick. You need to tone down your behavior."Blake scoffed, leaning against the chair in front of the principal’s desk. "And what behavior is that exactly?"Jerkins gave him a

AmeliaAmelia stormed through the hallway, her steps quick and purposeful. Enough was enough. She had tolerated Blake and his entitled nonsense for too long. Catherine and her minions had pushed her patience to the limit, and she wasn’t about to let them get away with it this time. If the school had any sense of justice, something had to be done. She reached the principal’s office and knocked firmly on the wooden door. When there was no response, she tried again. Still nothing.A sigh came from behind the front desk. Amelia turned to see the school secretary, a middle-aged woman with rectangular glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She looked up from her computer screen, arching a brow."Principal Jerkins isn’t in at the moment," the woman said, adjusting her glasses. "You’ll have to wait if you want to see him."Amelia exhaled sharply. Of course. Just her luck. "Do you know how long he’ll be?"The secretary shrugged. "Shouldn’t be too long. He had a meeting with some board memb

Blake.Blake didn’t like being late. Not because he cared about rules—Maverick High’s staff wouldn’t dare punish him considering how much money his father pumped into the school every year—but because he preferred to arrive on his own time, under his own terms.Today, however, he had decided to drive himself to school instead of letting one of the drivers take him. His father had just added another luxury car to their collection, sleek and powerful, and Blake needed to show it off.As he pulled into the school’s driveway, students turned to watch, their eyes filled with admiration, jealousy, or curiosity. He smirked as he parked, taking his time stepping out.He untucked his uniform shirt just enough to break the dress code without consequences, ran a hand through his hair to give it that effortless messy-but-still-perfect look, then slung his backpack over one shoulder. His car keys dangled loosely from his index finger as he strolled toward the school building, shoulders squared, exu

AmeliaAs soon as Amelia walked through the front door, the familiar scent of home welcomed her—lavender and vanilla, her mother's favorite fragrance. She dropped her bag on the couch and sighed, rubbing her temples. It had been a long day.Between the awkward group project meeting, Blake’s irritating presence, and the shocking revelation that his mother was her mother’s long-lost best friend, Amelia had a lot on her mind. She barely had time to process it all before her mother appeared from the kitchen, a warm smile spreading across her face. There you are,” She said, opening her arms. “How was your day, sweetheart?”Amelia allowed herself to be enveloped in her mother’s embrace, the warmth easing some of the tension in her shoulders.“Exhausting,” she admitted, pulling away. Her mother chuckled. “First days always are.”Amelia hesitated. How was she supposed to drop this bombshell?Oh, by the way, Mom, remember your best friend from high school? Yeah, I met her today. That didn’t se

Whenever his mother talked about friendship, loyalty, or memories of high school, it was always Ruby this, Ruby that.It used to annoy him. He'd never cared much for his mother's nostalgic ramblings, and he certainly never thought he'd meet the daughter of the famous Ruby Bridges. Yet, here Amelia was.It was interesting. His mother had adored Ruby. He could still remember the way her eyes lit up whenever she spoke about their high school days. And now, standing here, realizing that Amelia was her daughter, things made a little more sense.Amelia had that same sharp wit his mother always described in Ruby. The same stubbornness.
