The wolves jaws loosened too. No one was expecting me to offer them that kind of information.

“Why would you want to help him?” Harlen scoffed icily. “He’s bottom of the barrel.”

I held up a figure, stopping her. “No, that’s Cassar.”

“Why?” Cassar asked. His face was serious as he considered my offer.

I shrugged a shoulder. “I have my reasons.”

“Not unless I know.”

I clicked my tongue. “I guess you’re never going to know my secrets then.”

I needed to let Baras free, but I knew it would take a lot for Cassar to agree. So I was willing to give him the second thing he wanted most. My story.
